Deuteronomy 4
1 NOW therefore hearken, O Israel, unto the statutes and unto the judgments, which I teach you, for to do them, that ye may live, and go in and possess the land which the Lord God of your fathers giveth you.
Und nun höre, Israel, auf die Satzungen und auf die Rechte, welche ich euch lehre zu tun, auf daß ihr lebet und hineinkommet und einnehmet das Land, das euch Jehovah, der Gott eurer Väter, geben wird.
2 Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
Ihr sollt nicht dazutun zu dem Worte, das Ich euch gebiete, noch sollt ihr etwas davon wegnehmen, auf daß ihr haltet die Gebote Jehovahs, eures Gottes, die ich euch gebiete.
3 Your eyes have seen what the Lord did because of Baal-peor: for all the men that followed Baal-peor, the Lord thy God hath destroyed them from among you.
Eure Augen haben gesehen, was Jehovah getan hat in Baal-Peor; denn jeden Mann, der dem Baal-Peor nachging, hat Jehovah, dein Gott, aus deiner Mitte vernichtet.
4 But ye that did cleave unto the Lord your God are alive every one of you this day.
Ihr aber, die ihr Jehovah, eurem Gotte, anhinget, seid diesen Tag noch alle am Leben.
5 Behold, I have taught you statutes and judgments, even as the Lord my God commanded me, that ye should do so in the land whither ye go to possess it.
Siehe, ich habe euch Satzungen und Rechte gelehrt, wie mir Jehovah, mein Gott, geboten hat, daß ihr danach tut inmitten des Landes, dahin ihr kommen werdet, es einzunehmen.
6 Keep therefore and do them; for this is your wisdom and your understanding in the sight of the nations, which shall hear all these statutes, and say, Surely this great nation is a wise and understanding people.
Haltet aber und tut sie. Denn das sei eure Weisheit und eure Einsicht vor den Augen der Völker, wenn sie hören werden alle diese Satzungen und sagen: Nur ein weises und einsichtsvolles Volk ist diese große Völkerschaft!
7 For what nation is there so great, who hath God so nigh unto them, as the Lord our God is in all things that we call upon him for?
Denn wo ist eine Völkerschaft so groß, dem Gott nahe ist, wie Jehovah, unser Gott, so oft wir zu Ihm rufen?
8 And what nation is there so great, that hath statutes and judgments so righteous as all this law, which I set before you this day?
Und wo ist eine Völkerschaft so groß, die so gerechte Satzungen und Rechte hätte, wie dies ganze Gesetz, das ich diesen Tag vor euch gebe?
9 Only take heed to thyself, and keep thy soul diligently, lest thou forget the things which thine eyes have seen, and lest they depart from thy heart all the days of thy life: but teach them thy sons, and thy sons’ sons;
Nur hüte dich, und hüte deine Seele sehr, daß du nicht vergissest die Dinge, die deine Augen gesehen haben, auf daß sie alle Tage deines Lebens nicht aus deinem Herzen weichen, und sollst sie deine Söhne und die Söhne deiner Söhne wissen lassen;
10 Specially the day that thou stoodest before the Lord thy God in Horeb, when the Lord said unto me, Gather me the people together, and I will make them hear my words, that they may learn to fear me all the days that they shall live upon the earth, and that they may teach their children.
Den Tag, da du standest vor Jehovah, deinem Gott, am Choreb, da Jehovah zu mir sprach: Versammle Mir das Volk, daß Ich sie hören lasse Meine Worte, die sie lernen sollen, Mich zu fürchten alle Tage, die sie auf dem Boden leben, und daß sie ihre Söhne lehren.
11 And ye came near and stood under the mountain; and the mountain burned with fire unto the midst of heaven, with darkness, clouds, and thick darkness.
Und ihr nahtet hinzu und standet unten am Berg, und der Berg brannte im Feuer bis in das Herz der Himmel. Da war Finsternis, eine Wolke und Wolkendunkel.
12 And the Lord spake unto you out of the midst of the fire: ye heard the voice of the words, but saw no similitude; only ye heard a voice.
Und Jehovah redete zu euch mitten aus dem Feuer. Die Stimme der Worte hörtet ihr; aber ein Abbild sahet ihr nicht, nur eine Stimme.
13 And he declared unto you his covenant, which he commanded you to perform, even ten commandments; and he wrote them upon two tables of stone.
Und Er sagte euch an Seinen Bund, den Er euch gebot zu tun, die Zehn Worte, und schrieb sie auf zwei steinerne Tafeln.
14 And the Lord commanded me at that time to teach you statutes and judgments, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go over to possess it.
Und mir gebot Jehovah zur selben Zeit, euch zu lehren Satzungen und Rechte, daß ihr sie tun solltet in dem Lande, in das ihr überziehen würdet, um es einzunehmen.
15 Take ye therefore good heed unto yourselves; for ye saw no manner of similitude on the day that the Lord spake unto you in Horeb out of the midst of the fire:
Hütet euch aber sehr für eure Seelen, denn ihr habt kein Abbild gesehen am Tage, da Jehovah auf Choreb mitten aus dem Feuer zu euch redete;
16 Lest ye corrupt yourselves, and make you a graven image, the similitude of any figure, the likeness of male or female,
Auf daß ihr es nicht verderbt und euch kein Schnitzbild machet, ein Abbild irgendeiner Form nach dem männlichen oder weiblichen Vorbild;
17 The likeness of any beast that is on the earth, the likeness of any winged fowl that flieth in the air,
Das Vorbild irgendeines Viehs, das auf Erden ist, das Vorbild irgendeines geflügelten Vogels, das am Himmel fliegt,
18 The likeness of any thing that creepeth on the ground, the likeness of any fish that is in the waters beneath the earth:
Das Vorbild irgendeines Kriechtieres auf dem Boden, das Vorbild irgendeines Fisches, der im Wasser unter der Erde ist;
19 And lest thou lift up thine eyes unto heaven, and when thou seest the sun, and the moon, and the stars, even all the host of heaven, shouldest be driven to worship them, and serve them, which the Lord thy God hath divided unto all nations under the whole heaven.
Und daß du nicht deine Augen zum Himmel erhebest und die Sonne, und den Mond und die Sterne sehest, all das Heer des Himmels, und du irre gehst und sie anbetest und ihnen dienst, die Jehovah, dein Gott, allen Völkern unter allen Himmeln zugeteilt hat.
20 But the Lord hath taken you, and brought you forth out of the iron furnace, even out of Egypt, to be unto him a people of inheritance, as ye are this day.
Euch aber hat Jehovah genommen und euch aus dem Schmelzofen des Eisens, aus Ägypten ausgeführt, auf daß ihr Ihm zum Erbvolke werdet, wie an diesem Tag.
21 Furthermore the Lord was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over Jordan, and that I should not go in unto that good land, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance:
Aber Jehovah zürnte mir euretwegen, und schwur, daß ich nicht sollte über den Jordan setzen, und daß ich nicht kommen solle zum guten Land, das Jehovah, dein Gott, dir zum Erbe gibt.
22 But I must die in this land, I must not go over Jordan: but ye shall go over, and possess that good land.
Denn ich sterbe in diesem Land, ich werde nicht über den Jordan setzen; ihr aber setzet über und nehmet dies gute Land ein.
23 Take heed unto yourselves, lest ye forget the covenant of the Lord your God, which he made with you, and make you a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, which the Lord thy God hath forbidden thee.
Hütet euch, daß ihr nicht vergesset den Bund Jehovahs, eures Gottes, den Er mit euch geschlossen hat, so ihr euch machtet ein Schnitzbild, in dem Abbild von irgend etwas, das euch Jehovah, euer Gott, verboten hat.
24 For the Lord thy God is a consuming fire, even a jealous God.
Denn Jehovah, dein Gott, ist ein fressendes Feuer, ein eifernder Gott;
25 When thou shalt beget children, and children’s children, and ye shall have remained long in the land, and shall corrupt yourselves, and make a graven image, or the likeness of any thing, and shall do evil in the sight of the Lord thy God, to provoke him to anger:
Wenn du zeugst Söhne und Söhne der Söhne, und ihr alt geworden seid im Lande, und ihr verderbt euch, so daß ihr ein Schnitzbild in dem Abbild von irgend etwas machet, und tut, was übel ist in den Augen Jehovahs, eures Gottes, so daß ihr Ihn reizet;
26 I call heaven and earth to witness against you this day, that ye shall soon utterly perish from off the land whereunto ye go over Jordan to possess it; ye shall not prolong your days upon it, but shall utterly be destroyed.
So nehme ich heute Himmel und Erde zu Zeugen wider euch, daß ihr eilends umkommt aus dem Lande weg, in das ihr über den Jordan übersetzt, um es einzunehmen; nicht sollet ihr eure Tage darin verlängern, weil ihr vernichtet werdet.
27 And the Lord shall scatter you among the nations, and ye shall be left few in number among the heathen, whither the Lord shall lead you.
Und zerstreuen wird euch Jehovah unter die Völker, und wird euer eine geringe Zahl bleiben unter den Völkerschaften, dahin euch Jehovah treiben läßt.
28 And there ye shall serve gods, the work of men’s hands, wood and stone, which neither see, nor hear, nor eat, nor smell.
Und dort werdet ihr Göttern dienen, die von Menschenhänden gemacht sind, Holz und Stein, die nicht sehen und nicht hören und nicht essen und nicht riechen können.
29 But if from thence thou shalt seek the Lord thy God, thou shalt find him, if thou seek him with all thy heart and with all thy soul.
Und von dort werdet ihr nach Jehovah, deinem Gott, suchen und du wirst Ihn finden, wenn du nach Ihm suchst von deinem ganzen Herzen und von deiner ganzen Seele.
30 When thou art in tribulation, and all these things are come upon thee, even in the latter days, if thou turn to the Lord thy God, and shalt be obedient unto his voice;
In deiner Drangsal und wenn dich alle diese Dinge treffen, in den späteren Tagen wirst du zurückkehren zu Jehovah, deinem Gott und wirst auf seine Stimme hören.
31 (For the Lord thy God is a merciful God; ) he will not forsake thee, neither destroy thee, nor forget the covenant of thy fathers which he sware unto them.
Weil Jehovah, dein Gott, ein erbarmungsvoller Gott ist, wird Er nicht von dir ablassen noch dich verderben, und wird nicht vergessen den Bund mit deinen Vätern, den Er ihnen geschworen hat.
32 For ask now of the days that are past, which were before thee, since the day that God created man upon the earth, and ask from the one side of heaven unto the other, whether there hath been any such thing as this great thing is, or hath been heard like it?
Dann frage doch nach den früheren Tagen, die vor dir gewesen, seit dem Tage, da Gott den Menschen auf der Erde geschaffen, und von einem Ende des Himmels bis zum anderen Ende des Himmels, ob je so Großes geschehen oder gehört worden ist, wie dies?
33 Did ever people hear the voice of God speaking out of the midst of the fire, as thou hast heard, and live?
Hat je ein Volk die Stimme Gottes mitten aus dem Feuer reden gehört, wie du gehört hast, und ist am Leben geblieben?
34 Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the Lord your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes?
Oder hat Gott jemals versucht, hinzugehen und Sich eine Völkerschaft mitten aus einer Völkerschaft herauszunehmen mit Versuchungen, mit Zeichen und mit Wahrzeichen, und mit Streit und mit starker Hand und mit ausgestrecktem Arm, und mit großen, furchtbaren Taten, wie das alles Jehovah, euer Gott, für euch vor euren Augen in Ägypten getan hat?
35 Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the Lord he is God; there is none else beside him.
Du hast es gesehen, damit du wissest, daß Jehovah der Gott ist, und daß keiner recht ist außer Ihm.
36 Out of heaven he made thee to hear his voice, that he might instruct thee: and upon earth he shewed thee his great fire; and thou heardest his words out of the midst of the fire.
Aus dem Himmel ließ Er dich Seine Stimme hören, um dich zu belehren, und auf Erden ließ Er dich Sein großes Feuer sehen, und Seine Worte hast du gehört mitten aus dem Feuer!
37 And because he loved thy fathers, therefore he chose their seed after them, and brought thee out in his sight with his mighty power out of Egypt;
Und darum, daß Er deine Väter liebte, und ihren Samen nach ihnen erwählte, und dich mit Seinem Angesichte mit Seiner großen Kraft aus Ägypten ausführte,
38 To drive out nations from before thee greater and mightier than thou art, to bring thee in, to give thee their land for an inheritance, as it is this day.
Um größere und gewaltigere Völkerschaften, als du bist, vor dir auszutreiben, um dich hineinzuführen und dir ihr Land zum Erbe zu geben, wie an diesem Tag.
39 Know therefore this day, and consider it in thine heart, that the Lord he is God in heaven above, and upon the earth beneath: there is none else.
Und du sollst an diesem Tag wissen, und dir ins Herz zurückbringen, daß Jehovah der Gott ist im Himmel oben und unten auf Erden, keiner sonst;
40 Thou shalt keep therefore his statutes, and his commandments, which I command thee this day, that it may go well with thee, and with thy children after thee, and that thou mayest prolong thy days upon the earth, which the Lord thy God giveth thee, for ever.
Und sollst Seine Satzungen und Seine Gebote halten, die ich dir heute gebiete, auf daß es dir und deinen Söhnen nach dir wohlergehe, auf daß du deine Tage verlängerst auf dem Boden, den dir Jehovah, dein Gott, für alle Tage geben wird.
41 Then Moses severed three cities on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;
Da schied Mose drei Städte jenseits des Jordans gegen Aufgang der Sonne aus,
42 That the slayer might flee thither, which should kill his neighbour unawares, and hated him not in times past; and that fleeing unto one of these cities he might live:
Auf daß dahin flöhe der Totschläger, der seinen Genossen ohne Wissen tot geschlagen, ohne daß er ihn haßte seit gestern und ehegestern. Und er soll fliehen in eine von diesen Städten und soll am Leben bleiben,
43 Namely, Bezer in the wilderness, in the plain country, of the Reubenites; and Ramoth in Gilead, of the Gadites; and Golan in Bashan, of the Manassites.
Bezer in der Wüste im Lande der Ebene für die Rubeniter, und Ramoth in Gilead für die Gaditer, und Golan in Baschan für die Menaschiter.
44 And this is the law which Moses set before the children of Israel:
Und dies ist das Gesetz, welches Mose vor die Söhne Israels legte:
45 These are the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which Moses spake unto the children of Israel, after they came forth out of Egypt,
Das sind die Zeugnisse und die Satzungen und die Rechte, die Mose zu den Söhnen Israels auf ihrem Auszug aus Ägypten geredet hat,
46 On this side Jordan, in the valley over against Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt at Heshbon, whom Moses and the children of Israel smote, after they were come forth out of Egypt:
Jenseits des Jordans im Tal, Beth-Peor gegenüber, im Lande Sichons, des Königs der Amoriter, der in Cheschbon wohnte, den Mose und die Söhne Israels schlugen auf ihrem Auszug aus Ägypten.
47 And they possessed his land, and the land of Og king of Bashan, two kings of the Amorites, which were on this side Jordan toward the sunrising;
Und sie nahmen sein Land ein und das Land Ogs, des Königs von Baschan, der zwei Könige der Amoriter, am Übergang über den Jordan, gegen Aufgang der Sonne.
48 From Aroer, which is by the bank of the river Arnon, even unto mount Sion, which is Hermon,
Von Aroer, das am Ufer des Baches Arnon ist, und bis zum Berge Sion, das ist der Chermon.
49 And all the plain on this side Jordan eastward, even unto the sea of the plain, under the springs of Pisgah.
Und all das Flachland jenseits des Jordans gegen Aufgang und bis zum Meere des Flachlandes unter den Abhängen des Pisgah.
