< Deuteronomy 21 >

1 IF one be found slain in the land which the Lord thy God giveth thee to possess it, lying in the field, and it be not known who hath slain him:
「在耶和華-你上帝所賜你為業的地上,若遇見被殺的人倒在田野,不知道是誰殺的,
2 Then thy elders and thy judges shall come forth, and they shall measure unto the cities which are round about him that is slain:
長老和審判官就要出去,從被殺的人那裏量起,直量到四圍的城邑,
3 And it shall be, that the city which is next unto the slain man, even the elders of that city shall take an heifer, which hath not been wrought with, and which hath not drawn in the yoke;
看哪城離被殺的人最近,那城的長老就要從牛群中取一隻未曾耕地、未曾負軛的母牛犢,
4 And the elders of that city shall bring down the heifer unto a rough valley, which is neither eared nor sown, and shall strike off the heifer’s neck there in the valley:
把母牛犢牽到流水、未曾耕種的山谷去,在谷中打折母牛犢的頸項。
5 And the priests the sons of Levi shall come near; for them the Lord thy God hath chosen to minister unto him, and to bless in the name of the Lord; and by their word shall every controversy and every stroke be tried:
祭司利未的子孫要近前來;因為耶和華-你的上帝揀選了他們事奉他,奉耶和華的名祝福,所有爭訟毆打的事都要憑他們判斷。
6 And all the elders of that city, that are next unto the slain man, shall wash their hands over the heifer that is beheaded in the valley:
那城的眾長老,就是離被殺的人最近的,要在那山谷中,在所打折頸項的母牛犢以上洗手,
7 And they shall answer and say, Our hands have not shed this blood, neither have our eyes seen it.
禱告說:『我們的手未曾流這人的血;我們的眼也未曾看見這事。
8 Be merciful, O Lord, unto thy people Israel, whom thou hast redeemed, and lay not innocent blood unto thy people of Israel’s charge. And the blood shall be forgiven them.
耶和華啊,求你赦免你所救贖的以色列民,不要使流無辜血的罪歸在你的百姓以色列中間。』這樣,流血的罪必得赦免。
9 So shalt thou put away the guilt of innocent blood from among you, when thou shalt do that which is right in the sight of the Lord.
你行耶和華眼中看為正的事,就可以從你們中間除掉流無辜血的罪。」
10 When thou goest forth to war against thine enemies, and the Lord thy God hath delivered them into thine hands, and thou hast taken them captive,
「你出去與仇敵爭戰的時候,耶和華-你的上帝將他們交在你手中,你就擄了他們去。
11 And seest among the captives a beautiful woman, and hast a desire unto her, that thou wouldest have her to thy wife;
若在被擄的人中見有美貌的女子,戀慕她,要娶她為妻,
12 Then thou shalt bring her home to thine house; and she shall shave her head, and pare her nails;
就可以領她到你家裏去;她便要剃頭髮,修指甲,
13 And she shall put the raiment of her captivity from off her, and shall remain in thine house, and bewail her father and her mother a full month: and after that thou shalt go in unto her, and be her husband, and she shall be thy wife.
脫去被擄時所穿的衣服,住在你家裏哀哭父母一個整月,然後可以與她同房。你作她的丈夫,她作你的妻子。
14 And it shall be, if thou have no delight in her, then thou shalt let her go whither she will; but thou shalt not sell her at all for money, thou shalt not make merchandise of her, because thou hast humbled her.
後來你若不喜悅她,就要由她隨意出去,決不可為錢賣她,也不可當婢女待她,因為你玷污了她。」
15 If a man have two wives, one beloved, and another hated, and they have born him children, both the beloved and the hated; and if the firstborn son be hers that was hated:
「人若有二妻,一為所愛,一為所惡,所愛的、所惡的都給他生了兒子,但長子是所惡之妻生的。
16 Then it shall be, when he maketh his sons to inherit that which he hath, that he may not make the son of the beloved firstborn before the son of the hated, which is indeed the firstborn:
到了把產業分給兒子承受的時候,不可將所愛之妻生的兒子立為長子,在所惡之妻生的兒子以上,
17 But he shall acknowledge the son of the hated for the firstborn, by giving him a double portion of all that he hath: for he is the beginning of his strength; the right of the firstborn is his.
卻要認所惡之妻生的兒子為長子,將產業多加一分給他;因這兒子是他力量強壯的時候生的,長子的名分本當歸他。」
18 If a man have a stubborn and rebellious son, which will not obey the voice of his father, or the voice of his mother, and that, when they have chastened him, will not hearken unto them:
「人若有頑梗悖逆的兒子,不聽從父母的話,他們雖懲治他,他仍不聽從,
19 Then shall his father and his mother lay hold on him, and bring him out unto the elders of his city, and unto the gate of his place;
父母就要抓住他,將他帶到本地的城門、本城的長老那裏,
20 And they shall say unto the elders of his city, This our son is stubborn and rebellious, he will not obey our voice; he is a glutton, and a drunkard.
對長老說:『我們這兒子頑梗悖逆,不聽從我們的話,是貪食好酒的人。』
21 And all the men of his city shall stone him with stones, that he die: so shalt thou put evil away from among you; and all Israel shall hear, and fear.
本城的眾人就要用石頭將他打死。這樣,就把那惡從你們中間除掉,以色列眾人都要聽見害怕。」
22 And if a man have committed a sin worthy of death, and he be to be put to death, and thou hang him on a tree:
「人若犯該死的罪,被治死了,你將他掛在木頭上,
23 His body shall not remain all night upon the tree, but thou shalt in any wise bury him that day; (for he that is hanged is accursed of God; ) that thy land be not defiled, which the Lord thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
他的屍首不可留在木頭上過夜,必要當日將他葬埋,免得玷污了耶和華-你上帝所賜你為業之地。因為被掛的人是在上帝面前受咒詛的。
