2 Timothy 2
1 THOU therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.
Så stärk dig nu, min son, genom nådena, som är i Christo Jesu.
2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.
Och hvad du af mig hört hafver, genom mång vittne, det befalla trogna menniskor, som ock dugelige äro att lära andra.
3 Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.
Lid och umgäll, såsom en god Jesu Christi stridsman.
4 No man that warreth entangleth himself with the affairs of this life; that he may please him who hath chosen him to be a soldier.
Ingen stridsman befattar sig med näringshandel; på det han skall täckas honom, som honom till en stridsman upptagit hafver.
5 And if a man also strive for masteries, yet is he not crowned, except he strive lawfully.
Hvar ock nu någor kämpar, han krönes icke, utan han redeliga kämpar.
6 The husbandman that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.
Åkermannen, som åkren brukar, honom bör först få af fruktene.
7 Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.
Märk hvad jag säger; men Herren skall gifva dig i all ting förstånd.
8 Remember that Jesus Christ of the seed of David was raised from the dead according to my gospel:
Tänk på Jesum Christum, som är uppstånden ifrå de döda, af Davids säd, efter mitt Evangelium;
9 Wherein I suffer trouble, as an evil doer, even unto bonds; but the word of God is not bound.
Uti hvilket jag bedröfvelse lider, intill bojor, såsom en ogerningsman; men Guds ord är icke bundet.
10 Therefore I endure all things for the elect’s sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory. (aiōnios g166)
Derföre lider jag det allt, för de utkoradas skull, att de skola ock få salighet i Christo Jesu, med eviga härlighet. (aiōnios g166)
11 It is a faithful saying: For if we be dead with him, we shall also live with him:
Det är ju ett fast ord: Dö vi med, så skole vi lefva med;
12 If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:
Lide vi, så skole vi med regnera; om vi försake honom, så försakar ock han oss.
13 If we believe not, yet he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
Tro vi honom icke, så blifver han dock trofast; han kan icke neka sig sjelf.
14 Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.
Sådant förmana, och betyga för Herranom, att de icke träta om ord till ingen nytto, utan till att afvända dem som på höra.
15 Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Vinnlägg dig att bevisa dig Gudi en bepröfvad och ostraffelig arbetare, som rätt delar sanningenes ord.
16 But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.
Men oandelig och onyttig ord kasta bort; ty det hjelper mycket till ogudaktighet;
17 And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymenæus and Philetus;
Och deras tal fräter omkring sig, såsom kräfvetan; ibland hvilka är Hymeneus och Philetus;
18 Who concerning the truth have erred, saying that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.
De der om sanningen felat hafva, sägande uppståndelsen redan skedd vara; och hafva förvändt somliga menniskors tro.
19 Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.
Men den faste Guds grund blifver ståndandes, och hafver detta insegel: Herren känner sina; och hvar och en som åkallar Christi Namn, gånge ifrå orättfärdighetene.
20 But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.
Men uti ett stort hus äro icke allenast gyldene och silffat, utan jemväl träfat och lerfat; och somlig till heder, och somlig till vanheder.
21 If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master’s use, and prepared unto every good work.
Hvar nu någor renar sig ifrå sådant folk, han varder ett helgadt fat till heder, husherranom brukeligit, beredt till allt godt verk.
22 Flee also youthful lusts: but follow righteousness, faith, charity, peace, with them that call on the Lord out of a pure heart.
Fly ungdomsens lustar; men far efter rättfärdigheten, tron, kärleken, frid med allom dem, som af rent hjerta åkalla Herran.
23 But foolish and unlearned questions avoid, knowing that they do gender strifes.
Men förkasta dåraktig och öfverdådig spörsmål, vetandes att de föda träto af sig.
24 And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentle unto all men, apt to teach, patient,
Men Herrans tjenare skall icke vara trätosam, utan ljuflig vid hvar man, läraktig, den de onda lida kan;
25 In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;
Och med saktmodighet straffa dem som emotstå; om Gud en gång vill gifva dem bättring, till att förstå sanningen;
26 And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.
Och besinna sig ifrå djefvulens snaro, af hvilkom de fångne äro efter hans vilja.
