2 Samuel 14
1 NOW Joab the son of Zeruiah perceived that the king’s heart was toward Absalom.
E conhecendo Joabe, filho de Zeruia, que o coração do rei estava por Absalão,
2 And Joab sent to Tekoah, and fetched thence a wise woman, and said unto her, I pray thee, feign thyself to be a mourner, and put on now mourning apparel, and anoint not thyself with oil, but be as a woman that had a long time mourned for the dead:
Enviou Joabe a Tecoa, e tomou dali uma mulher astuta, e disse-lhe: Eu te rogo que te enlutes, e te vistas de roupas de luto, e não te unjas com óleo, antes sê como mulher que há muito tempo que traze luto por algum morto;
3 And come to the king, and speak on this manner unto him. So Joab put the words in her mouth.
E entrando ao rei, fala com ele desta maneira. E pôs Joabe as palavras em sua boca.
4 And when the woman of Tekoah spake to the king, she fell on her face to the ground, and did obeisance, and said, Help, O king.
Entrou, pois, aquela mulher de Tecoa ao rei, e prostrando-se em terra sobre seu rosto fez reverência, e disse: Ó rei, socorre-me!
5 And the king said unto her, What aileth thee? And she answered, I am indeed a widow woman, and mine husband is dead.
E o rei disse: Que tens? E ela respondeu: Eu à verdade sou uma mulher viúva e meu marido é morto.
6 And thy handmaid had two sons, and they two strove together in the field, and there was none to part them, but the one smote the other, and slew him.
E tua serva tinha dois filhos e os dois brigaram no campo; e não havendo quem os separasse, feriu o um à outra, e o matou.
7 And, behold, the whole family is risen against thine handmaid, and they said, Deliver him that smote his brother, that we may kill him, for the life of his brother whom he slew; and we will destroy the heir also: and so they shall quench my coal which is left, and shall not leave to my husband neither name nor remainder upon the earth.
E eis que toda a parentela se levantou contra tua serva, dizendo: Entrega ao que matou a seu irmão, para que lhe façamos morrer pela vida de seu irmão a quem ele matou, e tiremos também o herdeiro. Assim apagarão a brasa que me restou, não deixaram a meu marido nome nem remanescente sobre a terra.
8 And the king said unto the woman, Go to thine house, and I will give charge concerning thee.
Então o rei disse à mulher: Vai-te à tua casa, que eu mandarei acerca de ti.
9 And the woman of Tekoah said unto the king, My lord, O king, the iniquity be on me, and on my father’s house: and the king and his throne be guiltless.
E a mulher de Tecoa disse ao rei: Rei senhor meu, a maldade seja sobre mim e sobre a casa de meu pai; mas o rei e seu trono sem culpa.
10 And the king said, Whosoever saith ought unto thee, bring him to me, and he shall not touch thee any more.
E o rei disse: Ao que falar contra ti, traze-o a mim, que não te tocará mais.
11 Then said she, I pray thee, let the king remember the Lord thy God, that thou wouldest not suffer the revengers of blood to destroy any more, lest they destroy my son. And he said, As the Lord liveth, there shall not one hair of thy son fall to the earth.
Disse ela então: Rogo-te, ó rei, que te lembres do SENHOR teu Deus, que não deixes ao vingador do sangue aumentar o dano em destruir meu filho. E ele respondeu: Vive o SENHOR, que não cairá nem um cabelo da cabeça de teu filho em terra.
12 Then the woman said, Let thine handmaid, I pray thee, speak one word unto my lord the king. And he said, Say on.
E a mulher disse: Rogo-te que fale tua criada uma palavra a meu senhor o rei. E ele disse: Fala.
13 And the woman said, Wherefore then hast thou thought such a thing against the people of God? for the king doth speak this thing as one which is faulty, in that the king doth not fetch home again his banished.
Então a mulher disse: Por que pois pensas tu outro tanto contra o povo de Deus? que falando o rei esta palavra, é como culpado, porquanto o rei não faz voltar a seu fugitivo.
14 For we must needs die, and are as water spilt on the ground, which cannot be gathered up again; neither doth God respect any person: yet doth he devise means, that his banished be not expelled from him.
Porque de certo morremos, e somos como águas derramadas por terra, que não podem voltar a recolher-se: nem Deus tira a vida, mas sim planeja meio para que seu desviado não seja dele excluído.
15 Now therefore that I am come to speak of this thing unto my lord the king, it is because the people have made me afraid: and thy handmaid said, I will now speak unto the king; it may be that the king will perform the request of his handmaid.
E que eu vim agora para dizer isto ao rei meu senhor, é porque o povo me pôs medo. Mas tua serva disse: Falarei agora ao rei: talvez ele faça o que sua serva diga.
16 For the king will hear, to deliver his handmaid out of the hand of the man that would destroy me and my son together out of the inheritance of God.
Pois o rei ouvirá, para livrar à sua serva da mão do homem que me quer exterminar a mim, e a meu filho juntamente, da propriedade de Deus.
17 Then thine handmaid said, The word of my lord the king shall now be comfortable: for as an angel of God, so is my lord the king to discern good and bad: therefore the Lord thy God will be with thee.
Tua serva, pois, disse: Que seja agora a resposta de meu senhor o rei para descanso; pois que meu senhor o rei é como um anjo de Deus para escutar o bem e o mal. Assim o SENHOR teu Deus seja contigo.
18 Then the king answered and said unto the woman, Hide not from me, I pray thee, the thing that I shall ask thee. And the woman said, Let my lord the king now speak.
Então ele respondeu, e disse à mulher: Eu te rogo que não me encubras nada do que eu te perguntar. E a mulher disse: Fale meu senhor o rei.
19 And the king said, Is not the hand of Joab with thee in all this? And the woman answered and said, As thy soul liveth, my lord the king, none can turn to the right hand or to the left from ought that my lord the king hath spoken: for thy servant Joab, he bade me, and he put all these words in the mouth of thine handmaid:
E o rei disse: Não foi a mão de Joabe contigo em todas estas coisas? E a mulher respondeu e disse: Vive tua alma, rei senhor meu, que não há que desviar-se à direita nem à esquerda de tudo o que meu senhor o rei falou: porque teu servo Joabe, ele me mandou, e ele pôs na boca de tua serva todas estas palavras.
20 To fetch about this form of speech hath thy servant Joab done this thing: and my lord is wise, according to the wisdom of an angel of God, to know all things that are in the earth.
E Joabe, teu servo o fez, modificando a aparência do assunto; mas meu senhor é sábio, conforme a sabedoria de um anjo de Deus, para conhecer o que há na terra.
21 And the king said unto Joab, Behold now, I have done this thing: go therefore, bring the young man Absalom again.
Então o rei disse a Joabe: Eis que eu faço isto: vai, e faze voltar ao jovem Absalão.
22 And Joab fell to the ground on his face, and bowed himself, and thanked the king: and Joab said, To day thy servant knoweth that I have found grace in thy sight, my lord, O king, in that the king hath fulfilled the request of his servant.
E Joabe se prostrou em terra sobre seu rosto, e fez reverência, e depois que abençoou ao rei, disse: Hoje há entendido teu servo que achei favor em teus olhos, rei senhor meu; pois que fez o rei o que seu servo disse.
23 So Joab arose and went to Geshur, and brought Absalom to Jerusalem.
Levantou-se logo Joabe, e foi a Gesur, e voltou a Absalão a Jerusalém.
24 And the king said, Let him turn to his own house, and let him not see my face. So Absalom returned to his own house, and saw not the king’s face.
Mas o rei disse: Vá-se à sua casa, e não veja meu rosto. E voltou-se Absalão à sua casa, e não viu o rosto do rei.
25 But in all Israel there was none to be so much praised as Absalom for his beauty: from the sole of his foot even to the crown of his head there was no blemish in him.
E não havia em todo Israel homem tão elogiado por sua beleza como Absalão; desde a planta de seu pé até ao topo da cabeça não havia nele defeito.
26 And when he polled his head, (for it was at every year’s end that he polled it: because the hair was heavy on him, therefore he polled it: ) he weighed the hair of his head at two hundred shekels after the king’s weight.
E quando se cortava o cabelo, (o qual fazia ao fim de cada ano, pois lhe incomodava, e por isso se o cortava, ) pesava o cabelo de sua cabeça duzentos siclos de peso real.
27 And unto Absalom there were born three sons, and one daughter, whose name was Tamar: she was a woman of a fair countenance.
E nasceram-lhe a Absalão três filhos, e uma filha que se chamou Tamar, a qual era bela de ver.
28 So Absalom dwelt two full years in Jerusalem, and saw not the king’s face.
E esteve Absalão por espaço de dois anos em Jerusalém, e não viu a cara do rei.
29 Therefore Absalom sent for Joab, to have sent him to the king; but he would not come to him: and when he sent again the second time, he would not come.
E mandou Absalão por Joabe, para enviá-lo ao rei; mas não quis vir a ele; ele mandou mensagem ainda pela segunda vez, mas não quis vir.
30 Therefore he said unto his servants, See, Joab’s field is near mine, and he hath barley there; go and set it on fire. And Absalom’s servants set the field on fire.
Então disse a seus servos: Bem sabeis as terras de Joabe junto a meu lugar, de onde tem suas cevadas; ide, e pegai-lhes fogo; e os servos de Absalão pegaram fogo às terras.
31 Then Joab arose, and came to Absalom unto his house, and said unto him, Wherefore have thy servants set my field on fire?
Levantou-se, portanto, Joabe, e veio a Absalão à sua casa, e disse-lhe: Por que puseram fogo teus servos a minhas terras?
32 And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent unto thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Wherefore am I come from Geshur? it had been good for me to have been there still: now therefore let me see the king’s face; and if there be any iniquity in me, let him kill me.
E Absalão respondeu a Joabe: Eis que, eu enviei por ti, dizendo que viesses aqui, a fim de enviar-te eu ao rei a que lhe dissesses: Para que vim de Gesur? Melhor me fora estar ainda lá. Veja eu agora a cara do rei; e se há em mim pecado, mate-me.
33 So Joab came to the king, and told him: and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.
Veio, pois, Joabe ao rei, e fê-lo saber. Então chamou a Absalão, o qual veio ao rei, e inclinou seu rosto em terra diante do rei: e o rei beijou a Absalão.
