2 Chronicles 9
1 AND when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.
শিবা দেশের রানি যখন শলোমনের নামডাক শুনতে পেয়েছিলেন, তখন কঠিন কঠিন সব প্রশ্ন সাথে নিয়ে তিনি তাঁকে পরীক্ষা করার জন্য জেরুশালেমে এলেন। বিশাল দলবল নিয়ে—উটের পিঠে মশলাপাতি চাপিয়ে, প্রচুর পরিমাণ সোনা, ও দামি মণিমুক্তো নিয়ে—তিনি শলোমনের কাছে এলেন এবং তাঁর মনে যা যা ছিল, সেসব বিষয়ে শলোমনের সাথে কথা বললেন।
2 And Solomon told her all her questions: and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not.
শলোমন তাঁর সব প্রশ্নের উত্তর দিলেন; রানিকে ব্যাখ্যা করে বুঝিয়ে দেওয়ার পক্ষে কোনো কিছুই তাঁর কাছে কঠিন বলে মনে হয়নি।
3 And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,
শিবার রানি যখন শলোমনের প্রজ্ঞা, তথা তাঁর নির্মিত প্রাসাদটি,
4 And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the Lord; there was no more spirit in her.
তাঁর টেবিলে রাখা খাদ্যসম্ভার, তাঁর কর্মকর্তাদের বসার ব্যবস্থা, জমকালো পোশাক পরা সেবাকারী দাসেদের, জমকালো পোশাক পরা পানপাত্র বহনকারীদের এবং সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরে তাঁর উৎসর্গ করা হোমবলিগুলি দেখেছিলেন, তখন তিনি অভিভূত হয়ে গেলেন।
5 And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom:
তিনি রাজাকে বললেন, “নিজের দেশে থাকার সময় আমি আপনার কীর্তির ও প্রজ্ঞার বিষয়ে যা যা শুনেছিলাম, সেসবই সত্যি।
6 Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.
কিন্তু যতক্ষণ না আমি এখানে এসে নিজের চোখে তা দেখলাম, লোকেরা যা বলল, আমি তাতে বিশ্বাস করিনি। সত্যি বলতে কি, আপনার যে বিশাল প্রজ্ঞা, তার অর্ধেকও আমাকে বলা হয়নি; যে খবর আমি শুনেছিলাম, আপনি তার অনেক ঊর্ধ্বে।
7 Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.
আপনার প্রজারা কতই না সুখী! আপনার সেই কর্মকর্তারাও কতই না সুখী, যারা অনবরত আপনার সামনে দাঁড়িয়ে থাকে ও আপনার প্রজ্ঞার কথা শোনে!
8 Blessed be the Lord thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the Lord thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.
আপনার ঈশ্বর সেই সদাপ্রভুর প্রশংসা হোক, যিনি আপনার উপর সন্তুষ্ট হয়ে রাজারূপে আপনার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর হয়ে রাজত্ব করার জন্য আপনাকে তাঁর সিংহাসনে বসিয়েছেন। ইস্রায়েলের প্রতি আপনার ঈশ্বরের প্রেমের ও চিরকাল তাদের সমর্থন করা সংক্রান্ত তাঁর যে এক বাসনা ছিল, তারই কারণে তিনি আপনাকে তাদের রাজা করেছেন, যেন ন্যায়বিচার ও ধার্মিকতা বজায় থাকে।”
9 And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon.
পরে তিনি রাজাকে 120 তালন্ত সোনা, প্রচুর পরিমাণ মশলাপাতি, ও দামি মণিমুক্তো দিলেন। শিবা দেশের রানি রাজা শলোমনকে এত মশলাপাতি দিলেন, যা এর আগে কখনও দেখা যায়নি।
10 And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, which brought gold from Ophir, brought algum trees and precious stones.
(হীরমের দাসেরা ও শলোমনের দাসেরা ওফীর থেকে সোনা নিয়ে আসত; এছাড়াও তারা আলগুম কাঠ ও দামি মণিমুক্তোও নিয়ে আসত।
11 And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the house of the Lord, and to the king’s palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.
রাজা সেই আলগুম কাঠ সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরের ও রাজপ্রাসাদের সিঁড়ি নির্মাণ করার কাজে ও বাদ্যকরদের জন্য বীণা ও খঞ্জনি তৈরি করার ক্ষেত্রে ব্যবহার করতেন। যিহূদা দেশে এর আগে এত কিছু দেখা যায়নি।)
12 And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which she had brought unto the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.
রাজা শলোমন শিবা দেশের রানিকে তাঁর বাসনা ও চাহিদামতোই সবকিছু দিলেন; রানি তাঁর কাছে যা কিছু এনেছিলেন, তিনি তার চেয়েও অনেক বেশি পরিমাণ জিনিসপত্র তাঁকে দিলেন। পরে রানি তাঁর লোকলস্কর সাথে নিয়ে নিজের দেশে ফিরে গেলেন।
13 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold;
প্রতি বছর শলোমন যে পরিমাণ সোনা সংগ্রহ করতেন তার ওজন 666 তালন্ত,
14 Beside that which chapmen and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.
এতে অবশ্য বণিক ও ব্যবসায়ীদের আনা রাজস্ব ধরা হয়নি। এছাড়াও আরবের সব রাজা ও বিভিন্ন প্রদেশের শাসনকর্তারাও শলোমনের কাছে সোনা ও রুপো নিয়ে আসতেন।
15 And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of beaten gold went to one target.
পিটানো সোনার পাত দিয়ে রাজা শলোমন 200-টি বড়ো বড়ো ঢাল তৈরি করলেন; প্রত্যেকটি ঢাল তৈরি করতে 600 শেকল করে পিটানো সোনা লেগেছিল।
16 And three hundred shields made he of beaten gold: three hundred shekels of gold went to one shield. And the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.
পিটানো সোনার পাত দিয়ে তিনি আরও তিনশোটি ছোটো ছোটো ঢাল তৈরি করলেন, এবং প্রত্যেকটি ঢালে তিনশো শেকল করে সোনা ছিল। রাজা সেগুলি লেবাননের অরণ্য-প্রাসাদে নিয়ে গিয়ে রেখেছিলেন।
17 Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.
পরে রাজামশাই হাতির দাঁত দিয়ে একটি বড়ো সিংহাসন বানিয়ে, সেটি খাঁটি সোনা দিয়ে মুড়ে দিলেন।
18 And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays:
সিংহাসনে ওঠার জন্য সিঁড়ির ছয়টি ধাপ ছিল, ও সোনার একটি পাদানি সিংহাসনের সাথে জোড়া ছিল। বসার স্থানটির দুই দিকেই হাতল ছিল, এবং দুটিরই পাশে একটি করে সিংহমূর্তি দাঁড় করানো ছিল।
19 And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.
বারোটি সিংহমূর্তি সিঁড়ির ছয়টি ধাপের উপরে দাঁড় করানো ছিল, এক-একটি মূর্তি প্রত্যেকটি ধাপের এক এক পাশে রাখা ছিল। অন্য কোনও রাজ্যে আগে কখনও এরকম কিছু তৈরি করা হয়নি।
20 And all the drinking vessels of king Solomon were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was not any thing accounted of in the days of Solomon.
রাজা শলোমনের কাছে থাকা ভিত থেকে ওঠা ডাঁটিযুক্ত হাতলবিহীন সব পানপাত্র ছিল সোনার, এবং লেবাননের অরণ্য-প্রাসাদে রাখা সব গৃহস্থালি জিনিসপত্র খাঁটি সোনা দিয়ে তৈরি হল। কোনো কিছুই রুপো দিয়ে তৈরি করা হয়নি, কারণ শলোমনের রাজত্বকালে রুপোকে দামি বলে গণ্যই করা হত না।
21 For the king’s ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram: every three years once came the ships of Tarshish bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.
রাজার কাছে তর্শীশের বাণিজ্যতরির এক নৌবহর ছিল, যেটি পরিচালনার দায়িত্বে ছিল হীরমের দাসেরা। তিন বছরে একবার জাহাজগুলি সোনা, রুপো এবং হাতির দাঁত, বনমানুষ ও বেবুন নিয়ে ফিরে আসত।
22 And king Solomon passed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.
পৃথিবীর অন্য সব রাজার তুলনায় রাজা শলোমন ধনসম্পদে ও প্রজ্ঞায় বৃহত্তর হলেন।
23 And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.
ঈশ্বর রাজা শলোমনের অন্তরে যে প্রজ্ঞা ভরে দিলেন, সেই প্রজ্ঞার কথা শোনার জন্য পৃথিবীর রাজারা সবাই তাঁর সাথে দেখা করতে চাইতেন।
24 And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.
বছরের পর বছর, যে কেউ তাঁর কাছে আসত, সে কোনও না কোনো উপহার—রুপো ও সোনার তৈরি জিনিসপত্র, কাপড়চোপড়, অস্ত্রশস্ত্র ও মশলাপাতি, এবং ঘোড়া ও খচ্চর নিয়ে আসত।
25 And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.
ঘোড়া ও রথের জন্য শলোমনের 4,000 আস্তাবল ছিল, এবং তাঁর কাছে 12,000 ঘোড়া ছিল, যাদের তিনি রথ-নগরীগুলিতে এবং নিজের কাছে, অর্থাৎ জেরুশালেমেও রেখেছিলেন।
26 And he reigned over all the kings from the river even unto the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.
ইউফ্রেটিস নদীর পার থেকে শুরু করে মিশরের সীমানা পর্যন্ত বিস্তৃত ফিলিস্তিনীদের দেশ অবধি গোটা এলাকায়, সব রাজার উপর তিনি রাজত্ব করতেন।
27 And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycomore trees that are in the low plains in abundance.
জেরুশালেমে রাজা রুপোকে পাথরের মতো সাধারণ স্তরে নামিয়ে এনেছিলেন, এবং দেবদারু কাঠকে পর্বতমালার পাদদেশে উৎপন্ন ডুমুর গাছের মতো পর্যাপ্ত করে তুলেছিলেন।
28 And they brought unto Solomon horses out of Egypt, and out of all lands.
শলোমনের ঘোড়াগুলি মিশর থেকে ও অন্যান্য সব দেশ থেকে আমদানি করা হত।
29 Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer against Jeroboam the son of Nebat?
শুরু থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত শলোমনের রাজত্বকালের সব ঘটনা কি ভাববাদী নাথনের রচনায়, শীলোনীয় অহিয়ের ভাববাণীতে এবং নবাটের ছেলে যারবিয়ামের বিষয়ে লেখা দর্শক ইদ্দোর দর্শন-গ্রন্থে লেখা নেই?
30 And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.
শলোমন জেরুশালেমে সমগ্র ইস্রায়েলের উপর চল্লিশ বছর রাজত্ব করলেন।
31 And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.
পরে তিনি তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সাথে চিরবিশ্রামে শায়িত হলেন এবং তাঁকে তাঁর বাবা দাউদের নগরেই কবর দেওয়া হল। তাঁর ছেলে রহবিয়াম রাজারূপে তাঁর স্থলাভিষিক্ত হলেন।
