1 Samuel 27
1 AND David said in his heart, I shall now perish one day by the hand of Saul: there is nothing better for me than that I should speedily escape into the land of the Philistines; and Saul shall despair of me, to seek me any more in any coast of Israel: so shall I escape out of his hand.
इस समय दावीद के मन में एक ही विचार बार-बार उठ रहा था, “एक न एक दिन शाऊल के हाथों से मेरी हत्या तय है, तब इससे उत्तम विकल्प और क्या हो सकता है कि फिलिस्तिया देश को भाग जाऊं. परिणाम यह होगा कि शाऊल निराश हो इस्राएल राष्ट्र के किसी भी भाग में मेरी खोज करना छोड़ देंगे, और में उनसे सुरक्षित रह सकूंगा.”
2 And David arose, and he passed over with the six hundred men that were with him unto Achish, the son of Maoch, king of Gath.
तब दावीद ने सीमा पार की और गाथ देश के राजा माओख के पुत्र आकीश के आश्रय में पहुंच गए. उनके साथ उनके छः सौ साथी भी थे.
3 And David dwelt with Achish at Gath, he and his men, every man with his household, even David with his two wives, Ahinoam the Jezreelitess, and Abigail the Carmelitess, Nabal’s wife.
इस प्रकार दावीद आकीश के राज्य में अपने छः सौ साथियों के साथ रहने लगे. हर एक व्यक्ति के साथ उसका अपना परिवार भी था, तथा दावीद के साथ उनकी दोनों पत्नियां थी: येज़्रील से आई अहीनोअम तथा कर्मेल के नाबाल की विधवा अबीगइल.
4 And it was told Saul that David was fled to Gath: and he sought no more again for him.
जब शाऊल को यह समाचार प्राप्त हुआ कि दावीद गाथ देश को भाग चुके हैं, उन्होंने उनकी खोज करके उनका पीछा करना छोड़ दिया.
5 And David said unto Achish, If I have now found grace in thine eyes, let them give me a place in some town in the country, that I may dwell there: for why should thy servant dwell in the royal city with thee?
दावीद ने जाकर राजा आकीश से निवेदन किया, “यदि मैं आपकी दृष्टि में विश्वास्य हूं, तो कृपा कर अपने किसी दूर छोटे नगर में मुझे बसने की अनुमति दे दीजिए; क्या आवश्यकता है आपके सेवक की यहां राजधानी में बसने की?”
6 Then Achish gave him Ziklag that day: wherefore Ziklag pertaineth unto the kings of Judah unto this day.
तब राजा आकीश ने उसी समय दावीद को ज़िकलाग में बसने की आज्ञा दे दी. यही कारण है कि आज तक ज़िकलाग यहूदिया के शासकों के अधीनस्थ है.
7 And the time that David dwelt in the country of the Philistines was a full year and four months.
दावीद के फिलिस्तीनियों के देश में रहने की कुल अवधि एक साल चार महीने हुई.
8 And David and his men went up, and invaded the Geshurites, and the Gezrites, and the Amalekites: for those nations were of old the inhabitants of the land, as thou goest to Shur, even unto the land of Egypt.
दावीद और उनके साथी गेशूरियों, गीर्ज़ियों तथा अमालेकियों के क्षेत्रों में जाकर छापा मारा करते थे. (ये वे स्थान थे, जहां ये लोग दीर्घ काल से निवास कर रहे थे. इस क्षेत्र शूर से लेकर मिस्र देश तक विस्तृत था.)
9 And David smote the land, and left neither man nor woman alive, and took away the sheep, and the oxen, and the asses, and the camels, and the apparel, and returned, and came to Achish.
दावीद किसी भी क्षेत्र पर हमला करते थे तो किसी व्यक्ति को जीवित न छोड़ते थे: न स्त्री, न पुरुष; वह भेड़ें, पशु, गधे, ऊंट तथा वस्त्र लूटकर राजा आकीश को दे दिया करते थे.
10 And Achish said, Whither have ye made a road to day? And David said, Against the south of Judah, and against the south of the Jerahmeelites, and against the south of the Kenites.
जब आकीश उनसे पूछते थे, “आज कहां छापा मारा था तुमने?” दावीद कह दिया करते थे, “यहूदिया के नेगेव में,” या “येराहमील के नेगेव में,” या “केनियों के क्षेत्र में.”
11 And David saved neither man nor woman alive, to bring tidings to Gath, saying, Lest they should tell on us, saying, So did David, and so will be his manner all the while he dwelleth in the country of the Philistines.
दावीद इन क्षेत्रों में किसी को भी जीवित नहीं छोड़ते थे, ताकि कोई जाकर राजा आकीश को सत्य की सूचना दे सके. दावीद का विचार यह था, “ऐसा करने पर वे हमारे विरुद्ध यह न कह सकेंगे, ‘दावीद ने किया है यह सब.’” दावीद जितने समय फिलिस्तीनियों के क्षेत्र में निवास करते रहे, उनकी यही रीति रही.
12 And Achish believed David, saying, He hath made his people Israel utterly to abhor him; therefore he shall be my servant for ever.
राजा आकीश ने दावीद पर भरोसा किया और खुद से कहा, “वह अपने ही लोगों के लिए इतना अप्रिय हो गया है कि वह जीवन भर मेरा दास रहेगा.”
