1 Peter 1
1 PETER, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia,
イエズス、キリストの使徒たるペトロ、ポント、ガラチア、カパドシア[小]アジア及びビチニアに離散して寄留せる人々、
2 Elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.
父にて在す神の預知に從ひて、[聖]霊によりて聖とせられ、且服從し、イエズス、キリストの御血を沃がれん為に選まれたる人々に[書簡を贈る]。願はくは恩寵と平安と汝等に加はらん事を。
3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
第一項 信徒の賜はりし恵を神に感謝す。 第一編 キリスト信徒の特典及び其要する聖徳。 祝すべき哉我主イエズス、キリストの父にて在す神、蓋其大いなる憫に從ひて、イエズスの死者の中よりの復活を以て、我等を新に生れしめて、活ける希望を懐かしめ、
4 To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you,
天に於て汝等に備はりたる、屈せず穢れざる而も萎まざる世嗣を得させんとし給ふ。
5 Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.
汝等は神の能力により、終の日に顕るべく備はりたる救霊を得ん為に、信仰を以て守らるるものなり。
6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
是によりて、假令暫くは種々の試に悩まさるべきも、汝等は喜に勝へざるべし。
7 That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:
蓋汝等が信仰の試みらるるは、金が火を以て試るるよりも遥に尊き事にして、イエズス、キリストの公現の時、誉と榮と尊とを得べき者として認められん為なり。
8 Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory:
汝等はイエズス、キリストを見ざりしも、之を愛し奉り、今も尚見ずして之を信じ奉り、信じ奉りて而も光榮を帯びたる言ひ難き喜に勝へざるならん。
9 Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
其は汝等の信仰の目的たる魂の救を得べければなり。
10 Of which salvation the prophets have inquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace that should come unto you:
此救霊に就きては、汝等に於る将來の恩寵の事を預言せし預言者等、穿鑿して之を探求せり。
11 Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.
即ちキリストの霊は彼等に在して、キリストに於る苦難と其後の光榮とを豫告げ給ひしかば、何時の頃如何なる時を示し給へるぞと探求したりしに、
12 Unto whom it was revealed, that not unto themselves, but unto us they did minister the things, which are now reported unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.
其傳ふる所は、彼等自らの為に非ずして汝等の為なりとの黙示を得たり。其傳ふる所とは、天より遣はされ給ひし聖霊によりて汝等に福音を宣べし人々より、汝等が今既に告げられたる所にして、天使等も亦之を鑑みる事を欲せるなり。
13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ;
第二項 神の御恵に應じて生活すべし。 是故に汝等心に帯して節制し、イエズス、キリストの公現の時汝等に賜はる恩寵を缺くる所なく希望し、
14 As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance:
從順なる子兒の如く、最初の不知の望に從ふ事なく、
15 But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation;
汝等を召し給ひし聖なるものに象りて、凡ての行状に於て汝等も亦聖と成れ。
16 Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy.
其は録して、「我は聖なるにより汝等も聖と成るべし」とあればなり。
17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear:
人に依怙ある事なく、各の業によりて審判し給ふ者を父と呼び奉るならば、畏を以て汝等が世に住める時を過せ。
18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;
是汝等が先祖傳來の空しき行状より贖はれしは、金銀の如き壊るべきものによらずして、
19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:
無缺無垢の羔の如きキリストの尊き御血によれる事を知ればなり。
20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,
彼は世界開闢以前より豫知せられ給ひたりしかど、彼によりて神を信仰せる汝等の為に、世の末に顕れ給ひたるものにして、
21 Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God.
神が之を死者の中より復活せしめ之に光榮を賜ひしは、汝等の信仰と希望とを神によらしめ給はんとてなり。
22 Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:
汝等偽なき兄弟的相愛を生ぜしめんが為に、眞理に服從する事によりて魂を潔め、一層深く心より相愛せよ。
23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. (aiōn g165)
汝等が新に生れたるは、腐るべき種によらず、腐るべからざる種により、活きて永遠に存する神の御言によれり。 (aiōn g165)
24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away:
蓋一切の肉身は草の如く、其榮は草の花の如し、草は枯れ其花は落つれども、
