< Psalms 68 >
1 Let God arise, let his enemies be scattered: let them also that hate him flee before him.
To him that excelleth. A Psalme or song of David. God will arise, and his enemies shalbe scattered: they also that hate him, shall flee before him.
2 As smoke is driven away, so drive them away: as wax melts before the fire, so let the wicked perish at the presence of God.
As the smoke vanisheth, so shalt thou driue them away: and as waxe melteth before the fire, so shall the wicked perish at the presence of God.
3 But let the righteous be glad; let them rejoice before God: yes, let them exceedingly rejoice.
But the righteous shalbe glad, and reioyce before God: yea, they shall leape for ioye.
4 Sing to God, sing praises to his name: extol him that rides on the heavens by his name JAH, and rejoice before him.
Sing vnto God, and sing prayses vnto his name: exalt him that rideth vpon the heauens, in his Name Iah, and reioyce before him.
5 A father of the fatherless, and a judge of the widows, is God in his holy habitation.
He is a Father of the fatherlesse, and a Iudge of the widowes, euen God in his holy habitation.
6 God sets the solitary in families: he brings out those which are bound with chains: but the rebellious dwell in a dry land.
God maketh the solitarie to dwell in families, and deliuereth them that were prisoners in stocks: but the rebellious shall dwell in a dry land.
7 O God, when you went forth before your people, when you did march through the wilderness; (Selah)
O God, when thou wentest forth before thy people: when thou wentest through the wildernesse, (Selah)
8 The earth shook, the heavens also dropped at the presence of God: even Sinai itself was moved at the presence of God, the God of Israel.
The earth shooke, and the heauens dropped at the presence of this God: euen Sinai was moued at the presence of God, euen the God of Israel.
9 You, O God, did send a plentiful rain, whereby you did confirm your inheritance, when it was weary.
Thou, O God, sendest a gracious raine vpon thine inheritance, and thou didest refresh it when it was wearie.
10 Your congregation has dwelled therein: you, O God, have prepared of your goodness for the poor.
Thy Congregation dwelled therein: for thou, O God, hast of thy goodnesse prepared it for the poore.
11 The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.
The Lord gaue matter to the women to tell of the great armie.
12 Kings of armies did flee apace: and she that tarried at home divided the spoil.
Kings of the armies did flee: they did flee, and she that remained in the house, deuided the spoyle.
13 Though you have lien among the pots, yet shall you be as the wings of a dove covered with silver, and her feathers with yellow gold.
Though ye haue lien among pots, yet shall ye be as the winges of a doue that is couered with siluer, and whose fethers are like yelowe golde.
14 When the Almighty scattered kings in it, it was white as snow in Salmon.
When the Almightie scattered Kings in it, it was white as the snowe in Zalmon.
15 The hill of God is as the hill of Bashan; an high hill as the hill of Bashan.
The mountaine of God is like the mountaine of Bashan: it is an high Mountaine, as mount Bashan.
16 Why leap you, you high hills? this is the hill which God desires to dwell in; yes, the LORD will dwell in it for ever.
Why leape ye, ye high mountaines? as for this Mountaine, God deliteth to dwell in it: yea, the Lord will dwell in it for euer.
17 The chariots of God are twenty thousand, even thousands of angels: the Lord is among them, as in Sinai, in the holy place.
The charets of God are twentie thousande thousand Angels, and the Lord is among them, as in the Sanctuarie of Sinai.
18 You have ascended on high, you have led captivity captive: you have received gifts for men; yes, for the rebellious also, that the LORD God might dwell among them.
Thou art gone vp on high: thou hast led captiuitie captiue, and receiued giftes for men: yea, euen the rebellious hast thou led, that the Lord God might dwell there.
19 Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, even the God of our salvation. (Selah)
Praysed be the Lord, euen the God of our saluation, which ladeth vs dayly with benefites. (Selah)
20 He that is our God is the God of salvation; and to GOD the Lord belong the issues from death.
This is our God, euen the God that saueth vs: and to the Lord God belong the issues of death.
21 But God shall wound the head of his enemies, and the hairy scalp of such an one as goes on still in his trespasses.
Surely God will wound the head of his enemies, and the hearie pate of him that walketh in his sinnes.
22 The Lord said, I will bring again from Bashan, I will bring my people again from the depths of the sea:
The Lord hath sayde, I will bring my people againe from Bashan: I will bring them againe from the depths of the Sea:
23 That your foot may be dipped in the blood of your enemies, and the tongue of your dogs in the same.
That thy foote may bee dipped in blood, and the tongue of thy dogges in the blood of the enemies, euen in it.
24 They have seen your goings, O God; even the goings of my God, my King, in the sanctuary.
They haue seene, O God, thy goings, the goings of my God, and my King, which art in the Sanctuarie.
25 The singers went before, the players on instruments followed after; among them were the damsels playing with tambourines.
The singers went before, the players of instruments after: in the middes were the maides playing with timbrels.
26 Bless you God in the congregations, even the Lord, from the fountain of Israel.
Praise yee God in the assemblies, and the Lord, ye that are of the fountaine of Israel.
27 There is little Benjamin with their ruler, the princes of Judah and their council, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.
There was litle Beniamin with their ruler, and the princes of Iudah with their assemblie, the princes of Zebulun, and the princes of Naphtali.
28 Your God has commanded your strength: strengthen, O God, that which you have worked for us.
Thy God hath appointed thy strength: stablish, O God, that, which thou hast wrought in vs,
29 Because of your temple at Jerusalem shall kings bring presents to you.
Out of thy Temple vpon Ierusalem: and Kings shall bring presents vnto thee.
30 Rebuke the company of spearmen, the multitude of the bulls, with the calves of the people, till every one submit himself with pieces of silver: scatter you the people that delight in war.
Destroy the company of the spearemen, and multitude of the mightie bulles with the calues of the people, that tread vnder feete pieces of siluer: scatter the people that delite in warre.
31 Princes shall come out of Egypt; Ethiopia shall soon stretch out her hands to God.
Then shall the princes come out of Egypt: Ethiopia shall hast to stretche her hands vnto God.
32 Sing to God, you kingdoms of the earth; O sing praises to the Lord; (Selah)
Sing vnto God, O yee kingdomes of the earth: sing praise vnto the Lord, (Selah)
33 To him that rides on the heavens of heavens, which were of old; see, he does send out his voice, and that a mighty voice.
To him that rideth vpon ye most high heauens, which were from the beginning: beholde, he will send out by his voice a mightie sound.
34 Ascribe you strength to God: his excellency is over Israel, and his strength is in the clouds.
Ascribe the power to God: for his maiestie is vpon Israel, and his strength is in the cloudes.
35 O God, you are terrible out of your holy places: the God of Israel is he that gives strength and power to his people. Blessed be God.
O God, thou art terrible out of thine holie places: the God of Israel is hee that giueth strength and power vnto the people: praised be God.
