< Psalms 47 >

1 O clap your hands, all you people; shout to God with the voice of triumph.
“To the chief musician, a psalm for the sons of Korach.” All ye people, clap your hands; shout unto God with the voice of triumph.
2 For the LORD most high is terrible; he is a great King over all the earth.
For the Lord is most high, fear-inspiring; he is a great king over all the earth.
3 He shall subdue the people under us, and the nations under our feet.
He will subdue people under us, and nations under our feet.
4 He shall choose our inheritance for us, the excellency of Jacob whom he loved. (Selah)
He will choose for us our inheritance, the excellency of Jacob which he loveth. (Selah)
5 God is gone up with a shout, the LORD with the sound of a trumpet.
God ascendeth amid a triumphal shout, the Lord, amid the sound of the cornet.
6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises to our King, sing praises.
Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
7 For God is the King of all the earth: sing you praises with understanding.
For God is King of all the earth: sing ye praises with understanding.
8 God reigns over the heathen: God sits on the throne of his holiness.
God reigneth over the nations; God sitteth upon his holy throne.
9 The princes of the people are gathered together, even the people of the God of Abraham: for the shields of the earth belong to God: he is greatly exalted.
The nobles of the people are gathered together, [to be with] the people of the God of Abraham; for unto God belong the shields of the earth: he is greatly exalted.
