Psalms 42

1 As the hart pants after the water brooks, so pants my soul after you, O God.

科辣黑後裔的訓誨，交與樂官。 天主，我的心靈渴慕你，好像牝鹿渴慕溪水。

2 My soul thirsts for God, for the living God: when shall I come and appear before God?

我的心靈渴慕天主，生活的天主：我何時能目睹天主的儀容？

3 My tears have been my meat day and night, while they continually say to me, Where is your God?

有人終日向我說：你的天主在那裏？我的眼淚竟變成了我晝夜的飲食。

4 When I remember these things, I pour out my soul in me: for I had gone with the multitude, I went with them to the house of God, with the voice of joy and praise, with a multitude that kept holy day.

我想起昔日周旋在歡樂的群眾裏，在群眾歡呼讚頌的歌聲裏，他們朝覲天主聖殿時，我的心不免感到憂傷哀悲，

5 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted in me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him for the help of his countenance.

我的靈魂，你為何悲傷，為何憂苦？期望天主！因為我還要向祂頌祝，因為祂是我的救援，我的天主。

6 O my God, my soul is cast down within me: therefore will I remember you from the land of Jordan, and of the Hermonites, from the hill Mizar.

我自約旦地，從赫爾孟山，由小丘陵，一想起你來，我的靈魂即惴惴不寧。

7 Deep calls to deep at the noise of your waterspouts: all your waves and your billows are gone over me.

在你瀑布的巨聲下，深淵與深淵哈唱；你所有的洪濤巨浪，都沖擊在我身上。

8 Yet the LORD will command his loving kindness in the day time, and in the night his song shall be with me, and my prayer to the God of my life.

但願上主在白晝頒賜祂的恩愛慈惠，我夜間向賜我生命的天主歌頌讚美！

9 I will say to God my rock, Why have you forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy?

我對天主說：我的磐石你為何將我遺忘？為何我應常在仇人的壓迫下徘徊沮喪？

10 As with a sword in my bones, my enemies reproach me; while they say daily to me, Where is your God?

我仇敵欺凌我時，我覺得痛入骨髓，他們終日對我說：「你的天主在那裏？」

11 Why are you cast down, O my soul? and why are you disquieted within me? hope you in God: for I shall yet praise him, who is the health of my countenance, and my God.

我的靈魂，你為何悲傷，為何憂苦？期望天主！因為我還要向祂頌祝，因為天主是我的救援，是我的天主
