Jeremiah 6
1 O you children of Benjamin, gather yourselves to flee out of the middle of Jerusalem, and blow the trumpet in Tekoa, and set up a sign of fire in Bethhaccerem: for evil appears out of the north, and great destruction.
“Fujam por segurança, filhos de Benjamin, para fora do meio de Jerusalém! Toquem a trombeta em Tekoa e levantem um sinal sobre Beth Haccherem, pois o mal olha do norte com uma grande destruição.
2 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a comely and delicate woman.
I irá cortar a bela e delicada, a filha de Sião.
3 The shepherds with their flocks shall come to her; they shall pitch their tents against her round about; they shall feed every one in his place.
Os pastores com seus rebanhos virão até ela. Eles armarão suas tendas contra ela por toda parte. Eles alimentarão a todos em seu lugar”.
4 Prepare you war against her; arise, and let us go up at noon. Woe to us! for the day goes away, for the shadows of the evening are stretched out.
“Prepare a guerra contra ela! Levantem-se! Vamos subir ao meio-dia. Ai de nós! Pois o dia declina, pois as sombras da noite são esticadas.
5 Arise, and let us go by night, and let us destroy her palaces.
“Levantem-se! Vamos subir de noite e vamos destruir seus palácios”.
6 For thus has the LORD of hosts said, Hew you down trees, and cast a mount against Jerusalem: this is the city to be visited; she is wholly oppression in the middle of her.
Pois Yahweh dos exércitos disse: “Cortar árvores e levantar um monte contra Jerusalém”. Esta é a cidade a ser visitada. Ela está cheia de opressão dentro de si mesma.
7 As a fountain casts out her waters, so she casts out her wickedness: violence and spoil is heard in her; before me continually is grief and wounds.
Como um poço produz suas águas, assim ela produz sua maldade. A violência e a destruição são ouvidas nela. Doenças e feridas estão continuamente diante de mim.
8 Be you instructed, O Jerusalem, lest my soul depart from you; lest I make you desolate, a land not inhabited.
Seja instruída, Jerusalém, para que minha alma não se afaste de você, para que eu não faça de você uma desolação, uma terra desabitada”.
9 Thus says the LORD of hosts, They shall thoroughly glean the remnant of Israel as a vine: turn back your hand as a grape gatherer into the baskets.
Yahweh dos Exércitos diz: “Eles colherão completamente o remanescente de Israel como uma videira”. Vire novamente sua mão como vindimador para os cestos”.
10 To whom shall I speak, and give warning, that they may hear? behold, their ear is uncircumcised, and they cannot listen: behold, the word of the LORD is to them a reproach; they have no delight in it.
Com quem devo falar e testemunhar, para que eles possam ouvir? Eis que seus ouvidos são incircuncisos e eles não podem ouvir. Eis que a palavra de Yahweh se tornou uma reprovação para eles. Eles não se deleitam com isso.
11 Therefore I am full of the fury of the LORD; I am weary with holding in: I will pour it out on the children abroad, and on the assembly of young men together: for even the husband with the wife shall be taken, the aged with him that is full of days.
Portanto, estou cheio da ira de Iavé. Estou cansado de segurá-la. “Despeje-o nas crianças de rua, e sobre a assembléia de homens jovens juntos; pois até mesmo o marido com a esposa será levado, o idoso com ele que está cheio de dias.
12 And their houses shall be turned to others, with their fields and wives together: for I will stretch out my hand on the inhabitants of the land, says the LORD.
Suas casas serão voltadas para outros, seus campos e suas esposas juntos; pois estenderei minha mão sobre os habitantes da terra, diz Yahweh”.
13 For from the least of them even to the greatest of them every one is given to covetousness; and from the prophet even to the priest every one deals falsely.
“Pois de seu mínimo até o maior, todos se entregam à cobiça. Desde o profeta até o padre, todos negociam falsamente.
14 They have healed also the hurt of the daughter of my people slightly, saying, Peace, peace; when there is no peace.
Eles também curaram superficialmente a ferida do meu povo, dizendo: “Paz, paz!” quando não há paz.
15 Were they ashamed when they had committed abomination? no, they were not at all ashamed, neither could they blush: therefore they shall fall among them that fall: at the time that I visit them they shall be cast down, says the LORD.
Eles tinham vergonha quando cometeram abominação? Não, eles não tinham vergonha alguma, nem podiam corar. Portanto, eles cairão entre aqueles que caem. Quando eu os visitar, eles serão jogados para baixo”, diz Yahweh.
16 Thus says the LORD, Stand you in the ways, and see, and ask for the old paths, where is the good way, and walk therein, and you shall find rest for your souls. But they said, We will not walk therein.
Yahweh diz: “Fique nos caminhos e veja, e pergunte pelos caminhos antigos, 'Onde está o bom caminho?' e caminhe nele, e você encontrará descanso para suas almas. Mas eles disseram: “Não vamos caminhar nele”.
17 Also I set watchmen over you, saying, Listen to the sound of the trumpet. But they said, We will not listen.
Coloquei sentinelas sobre vocês, dizendo: 'Escutem o som da trombeta! Mas eles disseram: 'Não escutaremos!'.
18 Therefore hear, you nations, and know, O congregation, what is among them.
Portanto, ouçam, nações, e saibam, congregação, o que está entre eles.
19 Hear, O earth: behold, I will bring evil on this people, even the fruit of their thoughts, because they have not listened to my words, nor to my law, but rejected it.
Escutem, terra! Eis que trarei o mal sobre este povo, mesmo o fruto de seus pensamentos, porque não escutaram minhas palavras; e quanto à minha lei, rejeitaram-na.
20 To what purpose comes there to me incense from Sheba, and the sweet cane from a far country? your burnt offerings are not acceptable, nor your sacrifices sweet to me.
Para que me vem o incenso de Sabá, e a bengala doce de um país distante? Suas ofertas queimadas não são aceitáveis, e seus sacrifícios não me agradam”.
21 Therefore thus says the LORD, Behold, I will lay stumbling blocks before this people, and the fathers and the sons together shall fall on them; the neighbor and his friend shall perish.
Por isso Yahweh diz: “Eis que eu vou colocar obstáculos diante deste povo”. Os pais e os filhos juntos tropeçarão contra eles”. O vizinho e seu amigo perecerão”.
22 Thus says the LORD, Behold, a people comes from the north country, and a great nation shall be raised from the sides of the earth.
Yahweh diz: “Eis que um povo vem do país do norte. Uma grande nação será agitada a partir dos confins da terra”.
23 They shall lay hold on bow and spear; they are cruel, and have no mercy; their voice roars like the sea; and they ride on horses, set in array as men for war against you, O daughter of Zion.
Eles se apoderam do arco e da lança. Eles são cruéis e não têm piedade. Sua voz ruge como o mar, e cavalgam a cavalo, todos dispostos, como um homem para a batalha, contra ti, filha de Sião”.
24 We have heard the fame thereof: our hands wax feeble: anguish has taken hold of us, and pain, as of a woman in travail.
Ouvimos seu relatório. Nossas mãos se enfraquecem. A angústia tomou conta de nós, e as dores como de uma mulher em trabalho de parto.
25 Go not forth into the field, nor walk by the way; for the sword of the enemy and fear is on every side.
Não saia para o campo ou caminhe pelo caminho; pois a espada do inimigo e o terror estão de todos os lados.
26 O daughter of my people, gird you with sackcloth, and wallow yourself in ashes: make you mourning, as for an only son, most bitter lamentation: for the spoiler shall suddenly come on us.
Filha do meu povo, veste-te de saco, e chafurda em cinzas! Lamentai, como para um filho único, a lamentação mais amarga, pois o destruidor virá de repente sobre nós.
27 I have set you for a tower and a fortress among my people, that you may know and try their way.
“Fiz de você um testador de metais e uma fortaleza entre meu povo, para que você possa conhecer e tentar o caminho deles.
28 They are all grievous rebels, walking with slanders: they are brass and iron; they are all corrupters.
Todos eles são rebeldes gravíssimos, indo por aí para caluniar. Eles são bronze e ferro. Todos eles negociam de forma corrupta.
29 The bellows are burned, the lead is consumed of the fire; the founder melts in vain: for the wicked are not plucked away.
O fole sopra ferozmente. O chumbo é consumido no fogo. Em vão eles continuam refinando, pois os malvados não são arrancados.
30 Reprobate silver shall men call them, because the LORD has rejected them.
Os homens vão chamá-los de prata rejeitada, porque Yahweh os rejeitou”.
