Jeremiah 25

1 The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon;

योशियाह के पुत्र यहूदिया के राजा यहोइयाकिम के राज्य-काल के चौथे वर्ष में यह बाबेल के राजा नबूकदनेज्ज़र के राज्य-काल का पहला वर्ष था, येरेमियाह को याहवेह का संदेश भेजा गया जो यहूदिया की सारी प्रजा से संबंधित था.

2 The which Jeremiah the prophet spoke to all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,

जो भविष्यद्वक्ता येरेमियाह ने यहूदिया के सारे निवासियों तथा येरूशलेम के सारे निवासियों को प्रगट किया:

3 From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even to this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the LORD has come to me, and I have spoken to you, rising early and speaking; but you have not listened.

अमोन के पुत्र यहूदिया के राजा योशियाह के राज्य-काल के तेरहवें वर्ष से आज तक इन तेईस वर्षों में मुझे याहवेह का संदेश प्राप्‍त होता आया है, जो मैं बार-बार तुम्हारे समक्ष प्रस्तुत भी करता रहा हूं, किंतु तुमने इसकी अनसुनी ही की है.

4 And the LORD has sent to you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but you have not listened, nor inclined your ear to hear.

याहवेह ने बार-बार अपने भविष्यवक्ताओं को भेजा जो सभी याहवेह के सेवक थे, किंतु न तो तुमने उनकी और ध्यान दिया और न ही उनकी सुनी.

5 They said, Turn you again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD has given to you and to your fathers for ever and ever:

भविष्यवक्ताओं का संदेश था, “तुम सभी अपने-अपने अनाचार तथा अपने-अपने दुष्कर्मों को त्याग कर लौट आओ, तथा उस देश में निवास करो जो याहवेह ने तुम्हें तथा तुम्हारे पूर्वजों को सदा-सर्वदा के लिए दे दिया है.

6 And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

उन परकीय देवताओं का अनुसरण मत करो न उनकी सेवा करो न उनकी उपासना; अपनी हस्तकृतियों के द्वारा मेरे कोप को मत भड़काओ कि मैं तुम्हारी कोई हानि करूं.”

7 Yet you have not listened to me, says the LORD; that you might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

“फिर भी तुमने मेरी न सुनी,” यह याहवेह की वाणी है, “तुमने यह सब स्वयं अपनी ही हानि के लिए अपनी हस्तकृतियों के द्वारा मेरे कोप को भड़काने के उद्देश्य से किया है.”

8 Therefore thus says the LORD of hosts; Because you have not heard my words,

इसलिये सेनाओं के याहवेह का कहना यह है: “इसलिये कि तुमने मेरे आदेशों का पालन नहीं किया है,

9 Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, says the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.

यह देख लेना कि मैं उत्तर दिशा के सारे परिवारों को बुलाऊंगा,” यह याहवेह की वाणी है, “साथ ही मैं अपने सेवक बाबेल के राजा नबूकदनेज्ज़र को भी बुलाऊंगा कि वह इस देश पर इसके निवासियों तथा इस देश के निकटवर्ती इन सारे देशों पर आक्रमण करे. मैं इन्हें पूर्णतः नष्ट कर दूंगा कि वे आतंक तथा व्यंग्य का प्रतीक बन जाएं, कि उनमें स्थायी उजाड़ व्याप्‍त हो जाए.

10 Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.

इसके सिवा मैं इन देशों से आनंद का स्वर एवं हर्षोल्लास की ध्वनि ही मिटा दूंगा, न वहां वर का स्वर सुना जा सकेगा न वधू का, न वहां चक्की की ध्वनि होगी न दीप की ज्योति.

11 And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

यह संपूर्ण देश एक उजाड़ तथा भयावहता में परिवर्तित हो जाएगा, ये जनता सत्तर वर्षों तक बाबेल के राजा की सेवा करते रहेंगे.

12 And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, says the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.

“तत्पश्चात यह होगा: जब सत्तर वर्ष बीत जाएंगे, मैं बाबेल के राजा एवं राष्ट्र को तथा कसदियों के देश को उनके अधर्म के लिए दंड दूंगा,” यह याहवेह की वाणी है, “मैं उसे चिरस्थायी उजाड़ में परिवर्तित कर दूंगा.

13 And I will bring on that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah has prophesied against all the nations.

उस देश से संबंधित मेरे द्वारा उच्चारित सारे शब्द सत्य प्रमाणित होंगे, वे सब जो इस ग्रंथ में बताए गए है जिनकी भविष्यवाणी येरेमियाह ने इन सभी राष्ट्रों के विरुद्ध की थी.

14 For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands.

क्योंकि अनेक राष्ट्र एवं प्रतिष्ठित राजा उन्हें भी अपने दास बना लेंगे; हां, बाबेलवासियों को भी मैं उनके द्वारा किए गए कार्यों के अनुरूप ही प्रतिफल दूंगा.”

15 For thus says the LORD God of Israel to me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send you, to drink it.

क्योंकि याहवेह, इस्राएल के परमेश्वर का, मेरे लिए आदेश यह है: “मेरे हाथ से मेरे कोप के द्राक्षारस का प्याला ले लो और उन सभी देशों को जहां मैं तुम्हें भेजने पर हूं, इसे पीने के लिए प्रेरित करो.

16 And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.

वे उस तलवार के कारण जो मैं उनके मध्य भेजने पर हूं, इसे पिएंगे, लड़खड़ाने लगेंगे तथा उन्मत्त हो जाएंगे.”

17 Then took I the cup at the LORD’s hand, and made all the nations to drink, to whom the LORD had sent me:

मैंने याहवेह के हाथ से वह प्याला ले लिया और याहवेह ने मुझे जिन-जिन राष्ट्रों में भेजा उन्हें पिला दिया:

18 To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;

येरूशलेम तथा यहूदिया के नगर, उनके राजा एवं उनके उच्चाधिकारियों को वे अवशेष, आतंक, उपहास तथा शाप बने रह जाएं, जैसा कि आज भी देखा जा सकता है;

19 Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;

मिस्र का राजा फ़रोह, उसके सेवक, उसके उच्च अधिकारी तथा उसकी सारी प्रजा,

20 And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,

सभी विदेशी नागरिक; उज़ देश के सभी राजा; फिलिस्तिया देश के सभी राजा, यहां तक कि अश्कलोन, अज्जाह, एक्रोन, तथा अशदोद के लोग;

21 Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon,

एदोम, मोआब तथा अम्मोन के वंशज;

22 And all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles which are beyond the sea,

सोर के सभी राजा, सीदोन के सभी राजा, तथा उन तटवर्ती क्षेत्रों के राजा जो सागर के परे हैं;

23 Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmost corners,

देदान, तेमा, बुज़ तथा वे सभी जो अपनी कनपटी के बाल क़तर लेते हैं;

24 And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert,

अरेबिया के सभी राजा तथा विदेशियों के सभी राजा जो मरुस्थल में निवास करते हैं;

25 And all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes,

ज़िमरी के सभी राजा, एलाम के सभी राजा, मेदिया के सभी राजा;

26 And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are on the face of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

उत्तर के सभी राजा दूर अथवा निकट के, एक के बाद एक, तथा पृथ्वी के सभी राज्य, जो पृथ्वी तल पर हैं, और इन सबके बाद शेशाख का राजा भी यह द्राक्षारस पिएगा.

27 Therefore you shall say to them, Thus says the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Drink you, and be drunken, and spew, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.

“तुम्हें उनसे कहना होगा, ‘इस्राएल के परमेश्वर, सेनाओं के याहवेह का आदेश यह है: पियो, मतवाले हो जाओ, उल्टी करो, गिर पड़ो, फिर खड़े ही न होओ, उस तलवार के कारण जो मैं तुम्हारे मध्य तैयार करने पर हूं.’

28 And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at your hand to drink, then shall you say to them, Thus says the LORD of hosts; You shall certainly drink.

यदि वे तुम्हारे हाथ से वह प्याला लेकर पीना अस्वीकार कर दें, तब तुम्हें उनसे यह कहना होगा, ‘सेनाओं के याहवेह का संदेश यह है: निश्चयतः पीना तो तुम्हें पड़ेगा ही!

29 For, see, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should you be utterly unpunished? You shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword on all the inhabitants of the earth, says the LORD of hosts.

क्योंकि यह देखना, इस नगर में जो मेरे नाम से प्रतिष्ठित हैं, मैं घोर संकट प्रारंभ करने पर हूं, कैसे संभव है कि तुम दंड से बचे रहोगे? तुम दंड से बच न सकोगे, क्योंकि मैंने सारी पृथ्वी के निवासियों के विरुद्ध तलवार का आह्वान किया हुआ है, यह सेनाओं के याहवेह की वाणी है.’

30 Therefore prophesy you against them all these words, and say to them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar on his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

“इसलिये तुम्हें उन सबके विरुद्ध यह भविष्यवाणी करनी होगी और तुम उनसे यह कहोगे: “‘याहवेह की गर्जना उनके उच्च स्थान से होगी; तथा उनके पवित्र आवास से उनका स्वरोच्चार होगा वह अपनी भेड़-बकरियों पर उच्च स्वर में गरजेंगे. उनका उच्च स्वर पृथ्वी के सारे निवासियों के विरुद्ध, उनके सदृश होगा जो द्राक्षा को रौंद रहे हैं.

31 A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD has a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, says the LORD.

पृथ्वी के छोर तक यह आवाज गूंज उठेगी, क्योंकि याहवेह ने राष्ट्रों पर आरोप लगाया है; वह सारे मनुष्यों का न्याय करने पर हैं, जहां तक बुराइयों का प्रश्न है, याहवेह ने उन्हें तलवार से घात होने के लिए तैयार कर दिया है,’” यह याहवेह की वाणी है.

32 Thus says the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.

सेनाओं के याहवेह की यह वाणी है: “इस ओर ध्यान दो एक राष्ट्र से दूसरे राष्ट्र में घोर विपत्ति प्रसारित होती चली जा रही है; और पृथ्वी के दूर-दूर के क्षेत्रों से एक विशाल बवंडर स्वरूप ले रहा है.”

33 And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung on the ground.

उस अवसर पर याहवेह द्वारा घात किए हुए लोग पृथ्वी के एक छोर से दूसरे छोर तक देखे जाएंगे. उनके लिए विलाप नहीं किया जाएगा न ही उन्हें एकत्र करके गाड़ा जाएगा, वे भूमि के ऊपर मल सदृश पड़े रहेंगे.

34 Howl, you shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, you principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and you shall fall like a pleasant vessel.

चरवाहो, विलाप करो, विलाप करो; तुम जो भेड़-बकरियों के स्वामी हो, भस्म में लोटते रहो. क्योंकि तुम्हारे मारे जाने तथा तुम्हारे तितर-बितर होने के दिन आ पहुंचे हैं; तुम उत्कृष्ट बर्तन के सदृश गिरकर चूर-चूर हो जाओगे.

35 And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.

चरवाहों के समक्ष पलायन करने का कोई स्थान न होगा, वही स्थिति होगी पशुओं के झुंड के स्वामियों की.

36 A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard: for the LORD has spoiled their pasture.

चरवाहों के रोने की ध्वनि सुन लो, साथ ही भेड़-बकरियों के स्वामियों का विलाप भी, क्योंकि याहवेह उनके चरवाहों को नष्ट कर रहे हैं.

37 And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the LORD.

उनकी शान्तिपूर्ण चरागाहें याहवेह के प्रचंड कोप के कारण निस्तब्ध हो गई हैं.

38 He has forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger.

सिंह के सदृश याहवेह अपनी मांद से निकल पड़े हैं, याहवेह के प्रचंड कोप के कारण तथा दमनकारी तलवार की प्रचंडता के कारण उनका देश भयावह हो चुका है.
