Isaiah 8

1 Moreover the LORD said to me, Take you a great roll, and write in it with a man’s pen concerning Mahershalalhashbaz.

பின்பு யெகோவா என்னிடம், “வரைபலகையை எடுத்து அதில், மஹேர்ஷாலால் ஹாஷ்பாஸ் என சாதாரண எழுத்தாய் எழுது.”

2 And I took to me faithful witnesses to record, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah the son of Jeberechiah.

அதற்கு உண்மையுள்ள சாட்சிகளாய் இருக்கும்படி ஆசாரியன் உரியாவையும், எபரேக்கியாவின் மகன் சகரியாவையும் நான் அழைப்பேன் என்றார்.

3 And I went to the prophetess; and she conceived, and bore a son. Then said the LORD to me, Call his name Mahershalalhashbaz.

பின்பு நான் என் மனைவியாகிய இறைவாக்கு உரைப்பவளுடன் சேர்ந்தேன்; அவள் கர்ப்பவதியாகி ஒரு மகனைப் பெற்றாள். அப்பொழுது யெகோவா என்னிடம், “அவனுக்கு மஹேர்ஷாலால் ஹாஷ்பாஸ் என்று பெயரிடு.

4 For before the child shall have knowledge to cry, My father, and my mother, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria shall be taken away before the king of Assyria.

அவன் ‘என் அப்பா’ அல்லது ‘என் அம்மா’ என்று சொல்ல அறியுமுன் தமஸ்குவின் செல்வமும், சமாரியாவின் கொள்ளைப்பொருளும், அசீரிய அரசனால் வாரிக்கொண்டு போகப்படும்” என்றார்.

5 The LORD spoke also to me again, saying,

யெகோவா மீண்டும் என்னிடம் பேசினதாவது:

6 For as much as this people refuses the waters of Shiloah that go softly, and rejoice in Rezin and Remaliah’s son;

“இந்த மக்கள், அமைதியாக ஓடும் ஷீலோவாமின் தண்ணீரை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ள மறுத்தார்கள். ரேத்சீனுக்கும் ரெமலியாவின் மகனுக்கும் என்ன நடக்கும் என்பதில் களிகூர்ந்தார்கள்.

7 Now therefore, behold, the Lord brings up on them the waters of the river, strong and many, even the king of Assyria, and all his glory: and he shall come up over all his channels, and go over all his banks:

ஆதலால் யெகோவா, ஐபிராத்து நதியின் பெருவெள்ளத்தை அவர்களுக்கு எதிராகக் கொண்டுவரப்போகிறார். அசீரிய அரசனே கம்பீரத்துடன் அந்த வெள்ளத்தைப்போல் வருவான். அது வாய்க்கால்களை நிரப்பி கரைபுரண்டு பாயும்.

8 And he shall pass through Judah; he shall overflow and go over, he shall reach even to the neck; and the stretching out of his wings shall fill the breadth of your land, O Immanuel.

அது யூதா நாட்டிற்குள் பாய்ந்து, அதற்கு மேலாகப் பெருக்கெடுத்து அதன் கழுத்தளவுக்குப் பாயும். இம்மானுயேலே, உனது நாட்டின் அகன்ற பரப்பை வெள்ளத்தின் அகல விரிந்த சிறகுகள் மூடுமே!”

9 Associate yourselves, O you people, and you shall be broken in pieces; and give ear, all you of far countries: gird yourselves, and you shall be broken in pieces; gird yourselves, and you shall be broken in pieces.

நாடுகளே, போர் முழக்கமிடுங்கள், ஆனாலும் சிதறுண்டு போவீர்கள்! தூர தேசங்களே, கேளுங்கள். போருக்கு ஆயத்தப்படுங்கள், ஆனாலும் சிதறுண்டு போவீர்கள்! போருக்கு ஆயத்தப்படுங்கள், ஆனாலும் சிதறுண்டு போவீர்கள்!

10 Take counsel together, and it shall come to nothing; speak the word, and it shall not stand: for God is with us.

உங்கள் போர் முறையைத் திட்டமிடுங்கள், ஆனால் அது முறியடிக்கப்படும்; கூடிப்பேசி முடிவெடுங்கள், ஆனால் அதுவும் நிலைக்காது; ஏனெனில் இறைவன் நம்மோடு இருக்கிறார்.

11 For the LORD spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying,

யெகோவா தமது பலத்த கரத்தை என்மீது வைத்து, என்னோடு பேசி, இந்த மக்களின் வழியைப் பின்பற்றவேண்டாம் என என்னை எச்சரித்துச் சொன்னதாவது:

12 Say you not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear you their fear, nor be afraid.

“இந்த மக்கள் சதி என்று சொல்லும் எல்லாவற்றையும் நீ சதி என்று சொல்லாதே; அவர்கள் அஞ்சுவதற்கு நீயும் அஞ்சாதே, அதற்கு நீ நடுங்காதே.

13 Sanctify the LORD of hosts himself; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.

சேனைகளின் யெகோவாவை மட்டுமே பரிசுத்தர் என போற்று, அவர் ஒருவருக்கே நீ அஞ்சவேண்டும்; அவர் ஒருவருக்கே நீ நடுங்கவேண்டும்.

14 And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of stumbling and for a rock of offense to both the houses of Israel, for a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

அவர் உனக்குப் பரிசுத்த இடமாயிருப்பார்; ஆனால் இஸ்ரயேல், யூதாவாகிய இரு குடும்பங்களுக்கும் அவர், இடறச்செய்யும் கல்லாகவும், அவர்களை வீழ்த்தும் கற்பாறையாகவும் இருப்பார். எருசலேம் மக்களுக்கு அவர் கண்ணியாகவும், பொறியாகவும் இருப்பார்.

15 And many among them shall stumble, and fall, and be broken, and be snared, and be taken.

அநேகர் அவைகளில் தடுமாறுவார்கள், அவர்கள் விழுந்து நொறுங்கிப் போவார்கள். அவர்கள் கண்ணியில் அகப்பட்டு பிடிக்கப்படுவார்கள்.”

16 Bind up the testimony, seal the law among my disciples.

சாட்சியின் ஆகமத்தை பத்திரமாய்க் கட்டிவை; இறைவனுடைய சட்டத்தை என் சீடர்களிடையே முத்திரையிட்டு வை.

17 And I will wait on the LORD, that hides his face from the house of Jacob, and I will look for him.

யாக்கோபின் வீட்டாருக்குத் தன் முகத்தை மறைக்கும் யெகோவாவுக்கு நான் காத்திருப்பேன். அவரிலேயே என் நம்பிக்கையை வைப்பேன்.

18 Behold, I and the children whom the LORD has given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwells in mount Zion.

நானும் யெகோவா எனக்குக் கொடுத்த பிள்ளைகளும் இங்கே இருக்கிறோம். நாங்கள் சீயோன் மலையில் வசிக்கும் எல்லாம் வல்ல யெகோவாவினால் இஸ்ரயேலில் அடையாளங்களும் அறிகுறிகளுமாய் இருக்கிறோம்.

19 And when they shall say to you, Seek to them that have familiar spirits, and to wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek to their God? for the living to the dead?

முணுமுணுத்து ஓதுகிற, ஆவிகளுடன் தொடர்புடையோரிடமும், குறிசொல்வோரிடமும் விசாரிக்கும்படி மனிதர் உங்களிடம் சொல்கிறார்கள். மக்கள் தங்கள் இறைவனிடம் அல்லவோ விசாரிக்கவேண்டும்? உயிருள்ளவர்களுக்காக மரித்தவர்களிடம் ஏன் விசாரிக்கவேண்டும்?

20 To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

சட்டத்தையும், சாட்சி ஆகமத்தையுமே நாடவேண்டும். அவர்கள் இந்த வார்த்தையின்படி பேசாவிட்டால் அவர்களுக்கு விடியற்காலத்து வெளிச்சமில்லை.

21 And they shall pass through it, hardly bestead and hungry: and it shall come to pass, that when they shall be hungry, they shall fret themselves, and curse their king and their God, and look upward.

மக்கள் துயரும் பசியும் உடையவர்களாய் நாட்டில் அலைந்து திரிவார்கள். பட்டினியால் அவதியுறும்போது கோபங்கொண்டு மேல்நோக்கிப் பார்த்து, தங்கள் இறைவனையும் அரசனையும் சபிப்பார்கள்.

22 And they shall look to the earth; and behold trouble and darkness, dimness of anguish; and they shall be driven to darkness.

பின்பு அவர்கள் பூமியை நோக்கிப்பார்த்து துன்பத்தையும், இருளையும், பயங்கர அந்தகாரத்தையும் மட்டுமே காண்பார்கள். அவர்கள் காரிருளுக்குள்ளே தள்ளப்படுவார்கள்.
