Esther 6
1 On that night could not the king sleep, and he commanded to bring the book of records of the chronicles; and they were read before the king.
Naquela noite o rei perdeu o sono. Então ele mandou trazer o livro das memórias das crônicas: e elas foram lidas na presença do rei.
2 And it was found written, that Mordecai had told of Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s chamberlains, the keepers of the door, who sought to lay hand on the king Ahasuerus.
E achou-se escrito que Mardoqueu havia denunciado Bigtã e de Teres, dois eunucos do rei, da guarda da porta, que tinham procurado matar o rei Assuero.
3 And the king said, What honor and dignity has been done to Mordecai for this? Then said the king’s servants that ministered to him, There is nothing done for him.
Então o rei disse: Que honra e que condecoração se fez a Mardoqueu por isto? E os servos do rei que o serviam disseram: Nada foi feito com ele.
4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king’s house, to speak to the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.
Então o rei disse: Quem está no pátio? (Pois Hamã tinha vindo ao pátio de fora da casa do rei, para dizer ao rei que enforcassem a Mardoqueu na forca que tinha preparado para ele).
5 And the king’s servants said to him, Behold, Haman stands in the court. And the king said, Let him come in.
E os servos do rei lhe responderam: Eis que Hamã está no pátio. E o rei mandou que ele entrasse.
6 So Haman came in. And the king said to him, What shall be done to the man whom the king delights to honor? Now Haman thought in his heart, To whom would the king delight to do honor more than to myself?
Quando Hamã entrou, o rei lhe perguntou: Que se fará ao homem a quem rei deseja honrar? Então Hamã pensou em seu coração: A quem o rei desejará mais dar honra que a mim?
7 And Haman answered the king, For the man whom the king delights to honor,
Por isso Hamã respondeu ao rei: Ao homem a quem o rei deseja honrar,
8 Let the royal apparel be brought which the king uses to wear, and the horse that the king rides on, and the crown royal which is set on his head:
Tragam o vestido real de que o rei costuma se vestir, o cavalo em que o rei costuma cavalgar, e ponha-se a coroa real sobre sua cabeça.
9 And let this apparel and horse be delivered to the hand of one of the king’s most noble princes, that they may array the man with whom the king delights to honor, and bring him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaim before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.
E entregue-se o vestido e o cavalo na mão de um dos mais importantes príncipes do rei, e vistam a tal homem a quem o rei deseja honrar, e levem-no a cavalo pelas ruas da cidade, e proclamem diante dele: Assim se fará ao homem a quem o rei deseja honrar!
10 Then the king said to Haman, Make haste, and take the apparel and the horse, as you have said, and do even so to Mordecai the Jew, that sits at the king’s gate: let nothing fail of all that you have spoken.
Então o rei disse a Hamã: Apressa-te, toma o vestido e o cavalo, como disseste, e faze assim para com o judeu Mardoqueu, que se senta à porta do rei; não omitas coisa alguma de tudo quanto disseste.
11 Then took Haman the apparel and the horse, and arrayed Mordecai, and brought him on horseback through the street of the city, and proclaimed before him, Thus shall it be done to the man whom the king delights to honor.
E Hamã tomou o vestido e o cavalo, e vestiu a Mardoqueu; e o levou a cavalo pelas ruas da cidade, e proclamou diante dele: Assim se fará ao homem a quem o rei deseja honrar!
12 And Mordecai came again to the king’s gate. But Haman hurried to his house mourning, and having his head covered.
Depois disto Mardoqueu voltou à porta do rei. Porém Hamã se retirou correndo para sua casa, aborrecido, e com sua cabeça coberta.
13 And Haman told Zeresh his wife and all his friends every thing that had befallen him. Then said his wise men and Zeresh his wife to him, If Mordecai be of the seed of the Jews, before whom you have begun to fall, you shall not prevail against him, but shall surely fall before him.
E Hamã contou a sua mulher Zeres e a todos seus amigos tudo o que tinha lhe acontecido; então seus sábios e sua mulher Zeres lhe disseram: Se Mardoqueu, diante de quem começaste a cair, é da semente dos judeus, tu não prevalecerás contra ele; ao contrário, certamente cairás diante dele.
14 And while they were yet talking with him, came the king’s chamberlains, and hurried to bring Haman to the banquet that Esther had prepared.
Enquanto eles ainda estavam falando com ele, os eunucos do rei chegaram, apressados, para levarem Hamã ao banquete que Ester havia preparado.
