Deuteronomy 23

1 He that is wounded in the stones, or has his privy member cut off, shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

कोई भी, जो नपुंसक है, जिसका लिंग काट डाला गया है, याहवेह की सभा में प्रवेश नहीं करेगा.

2 A bastard shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to his tenth generation shall he not enter into the congregation of the LORD.

कोई भी, जो अवैध जन्मा है, याहवेह की सभा में प्रवेश नहीं करेगा; दसवीं पीढ़ी तक उसके वंशज याहवेह की सभा में प्रवेश नहीं करेंगे.

3 An Ammonite or Moabite shall not enter into the congregation of the LORD; even to their tenth generation shall they not enter into the congregation of the LORD for ever:

कोई भी अम्मोनी अथवा मोआबी याहवेह की सभा में प्रवेश नहीं करेगा, दसवीं पीढ़ी तक उनके वंशज याहवेह की सभा में प्रवेश नहीं करेंगे.

4 Because they met you not with bread and with water in the way, when you came forth out of Egypt; and because they hired against you Balaam the son of Beor of Pethor of Mesopotamia, to curse you.

क्योंकि मिस्र देश से यहां आते हुए उन्होंने तुम्हारे लिए अन्‍न-जल का प्रावधान न होने दिया, और इसके अलावा, उन्होंने मेसोपोतामिया के पेथोर नगर के बेओर के पुत्र बिलआम को पारिश्रमिक देते हुए तुम्हें शाप देने के लिए बुलाया था.

5 Nevertheless the LORD your God would not listen to Balaam; but the LORD your God turned the curse into a blessing to you, because the LORD your God loved you.

फिर भी याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर ने बिलआम की ओर ध्यान देना सही न समझा, याहवेह तुम्हारे परमेश्वर ने बिलआम के शाप को तुम्हारे लिए समृद्धि में परिणत कर दिया; क्योंकि याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर को तुमसे प्रेम है.

6 You shall not seek their peace nor their prosperity all your days for ever.

तुम आजीवन न तो उनके भले की और न समृद्धि की कामना करोगे.

7 You shall not abhor an Edomite; for he is your brother: you shall not abhor an Egyptian; because you were a stranger in his land.

तुम किसी एदोमी से घृणा नहीं करोगे, क्योंकि वह तुम्हारा भाई ही है; तुम किसी मिस्रवासी से भी घृणा न करोगे, क्योंकि तुम उसके देश में प्रवासी होकर रहे थे.

8 The children that are begotten of them shall enter into the congregation of the LORD in their third generation.

उनकी तीसरी पीढ़ी के वंशज याहवेह की सभा में शामिल हो सकते हैं.

9 When the host goes forth against your enemies, then keep you from every wicked thing.

ज़रूरी है कि जब तुम युद्ध के लिए कूच करो, तुम सांस्कारिक रूप से शुद्ध रहो.

10 If there be among you any man, that is not clean by reason of uncleanness that chances him by night, then shall he go abroad out of the camp, he shall not come within the camp:

यदि छावनी में कोई ऐसा व्यक्ति है, जिसे रात में स्वाभाविक वीर्यपात हुआ है, वह छावनी के बाहर चला जाए; छावनी में प्रवेश न करे.

11 But it shall be, when evening comes on, he shall wash himself with water: and when the sun is down, he shall come into the camp again.

सायंकाल वह स्‍नान करे और सूर्यास्त पर वह छावनी में प्रवेश कर सकता है.

12 You shall have a place also without the camp, where you shall go forth abroad:

ज़रूरी है कि छावनी के बाहर ही शौच के लिए एक स्थान तय किया जाए.

13 And you shall have a paddle on your weapon; and it shall be, when you will ease yourself abroad, you shall dig therewith, and shall turn back and cover that which comes from you:

तुम्हारे उपकरण में एक बेलचा भी हो, कि जब तुम शौच के लिए वहां बैठो, इससे भूमि को खोदो और इसके बाद मल को भूमि में दबा दो.

14 For the LORD your God walks in the middle of your camp, to deliver you, and to give up your enemies before you; therefore shall your camp be holy: that he see no unclean thing in you, and turn away from you.

क्योंकि याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर तुम्हारे छावनी के बीच विचरण करते हैं, कि तुम्हें विजय प्रदान करें, तुम्हारे शत्रुओं को तुम्हारे सामने हराएं, तब ज़रूरी है कि छावनी में पवित्रता बनाई रखी जाए. याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर को तुम्हारे बीच कुछ भी अभद्र दिखाई न दे, नहीं तो वह तुमसे दूर चले जाएंगे.

15 You shall not deliver to his master the servant which is escaped from his master to you:

वह दास, जो अपने स्वामी के दासत्व से भागकर तुम्हारे आश्रय में आया हुआ है, तुम उसे उसके स्वामी को नहीं लौटाओगे.

16 He shall dwell with you, even among you, in that place which he shall choose in one of your gates, where it likes him best: you shall not oppress him.

वह तुम्हारे ही बीच में निवास करेगा, उसी स्थान पर जो अपने लिए उपयुक्त समझा है, तुम उसके साथ कोई दुर्व्यवहार नहीं करोगे.

17 There shall be no whore of the daughters of Israel, nor a sodomite of the sons of Israel.

इस्राएल राष्ट्र की पुत्रियां या पुत्र मंदिर वेश्या नहीं बनेंगे.

18 You shall not bring the hire of a whore, or the price of a dog, into the house of the LORD your God for any vow: for even both these are abomination to the LORD your God.

तुम याहवेह, अपने परमेश्वर को न तो वेश्यावृत्ति का वेतन भेंट करोगे और न ही पुरुष वेश्या द्वारा कमाई गई राशि को मन्नत की भेंट स्वरूप अर्पित करोगे. ये दोनों ही याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर की दृष्टि में घृणित हैं.

19 You shall not lend on usury to your brother; usury of money, usury of victuals, usury of any thing that is lent on usury:

तुम अपने स्वजातीय को कुछ भी ब्याज पर नहीं दोगे; न धन, न खाद्य पदार्थ और न कोई ऐसी वस्तु, जिस पर ब्याज लिया जा सकता है.

20 To a stranger you may lend on usury; but to your brother you shall not lend on usury: that the LORD your God may bless you in all that you set your hand to in the land where you go to possess it.

हां, किसी विदेशी से तुम ब्याज ले सकते हो, मगर अपने देशवासियों से नहीं, जिससे कि उस देश में, तुम जिस पर अधिकार करने के उद्देश्य से प्रवेश कर रहे हो, याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर तुम्हारे हर एक उपक्रम में तुम्हें समृद्धि प्रदान करें.

21 When you shall vow a vow to the LORD your God, you shall not slack to pay it: for the LORD your God will surely require it of you; and it would be sin in you.

जब कभी तुम याहवेह, अपने परमेश्वर के लिए मन्नत मानो, तुम उसे पूरा करने में विलंब नहीं करोगे. क्योंकि याहवेह, तुम्हारे परमेश्वर निश्चयतः तुमसे यह ले ही लेंगे, मगर तब तुम उनके सामने पापी बन जाओगे.

22 But if you shall forbear to vow, it shall be no sin in you.

फिर भी दूसरी स्थिति में तुम मन्नत ही न मानो तब तुम्हारे पक्ष में यह पाप नहीं होगा.

23 That which is gone out of your lips you shall keep and perform; even a freewill offering, according as you have vowed to the LORD your God, which you have promised with your mouth.

ठीक जिस प्रकार तुमने स्वेच्छानुरूप याहवेह, अपने परमेश्वर से मन्नत मानी थी, जो कुछ आपके मुख से मुखरित हो चुका है, तुमने जो शपथ की है, उसे पूरा करने के विषय में तुम सावधान रहना.

24 When you come into your neighbor’s vineyard, then you may eat grapes your fill at your own pleasure; but you shall not put any in your vessel.

जब कभी तुम अपने पड़ोसी के अंगूर के बगीचे में जाओ, तुम अपनी पूरी संतुष्टि तक अंगूर खा सकते हो, मगर तुम अंगूर को अपनी टोकरी में रखकर नहीं लाओगे.

25 When you come into the standing corn of your neighbor, then you may pluck the ears with your hand; but you shall not move a sickle to your neighbor’s standing corn.

जब कभी तुम अपने पड़ोसी के खेत में खड़ी उपज के अवसर पर प्रवेश करो, तो अपने हाथों में तुम बालें ज़रूर तोड़ सकते हो, मगर तुम उस उपज पर हंसिया नहीं चला सकते.
