2 Thessalonians 2
1 Now we beseech you, brothers, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together to him,
Or, frères, en ce qui concerne l'avènement de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ et notre rassemblement auprès de lui, nous vous demandons
2 That you be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand.
de ne pas être promptement ébranlés dans votre esprit ni troublés, soit par un esprit, soit par une parole, soit par une lettre, comme venant de nous, disant que le jour du Christ est déjà arrivé.
3 Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition;
Que personne ne vous séduise d'aucune manière. Car cela n'arrivera pas, à moins que la rébellion ne vienne d'abord, et que l'homme du péché ne soit révélé, le fils de la destruction.
4 Who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sits in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God.
Il s'oppose et s'élève contre tout ce qu'on appelle Dieu ou ce qu'on adore, de sorte qu'il s'assied comme Dieu dans le temple de Dieu, s'érigeant en Dieu.
5 Remember you not, that, when I was yet with you, I told you these things?
Ne vous souvenez-vous pas que, lorsque j'étais encore avec vous, je vous ai dit ces choses?
6 And now you know what withholds that he might be revealed in his time.
Vous savez maintenant ce qui le retient, afin qu'il se révèle en son temps.
7 For the mystery of iniquity does already work: only he who now lets will let, until he be taken out of the way.
Car le mystère de l'iniquité agit déjà. Seulement, il y en a un qui retient maintenant, jusqu'à ce qu'il soit ôté du chemin.
8 And then shall that Wicked be revealed, whom the Lord shall consume with the spirit of his mouth, and shall destroy with the brightness of his coming:
Alors paraîtra l'impie, que le Seigneur fera mourir par le souffle de sa bouche et qu'il détruira par la manifestation de son avènement,
9 Even him, whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,
celui dont l'avènement est conforme à l'œuvre de Satan, avec toute puissance, signes et prodiges mensongers,
10 And with all delusion of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
et avec toutes les séductions de la méchanceté pour ceux qui se perdent, parce qu'ils n'ont pas reçu l'amour de la vérité, afin d'être sauvés.
11 And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie:
A cause de cela, Dieu leur envoie une puissante illusion, pour qu'ils croient au mensonge,
12 That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
afin que tous ceux qui n'ont pas cru à la vérité, mais qui ont pris plaisir à l'injustice, soient jugés.
13 But we are bound to give thanks always to God for you, brothers beloved of the Lord, because God has from the beginning chosen you to salvation through sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth:
Mais nous sommes tenus de rendre toujours grâces à Dieu pour vous, frères aimés du Seigneur, parce que Dieu vous a choisis dès le commencement pour le salut par la sanctification de l'Esprit et la foi en la vérité,
14 Whereunto he called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.
auquel il vous a appelés par notre Bonne Nouvelle, pour l'obtention de la gloire de notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ.
15 Therefore, brothers, stand fast, and hold the traditions which you have been taught, whether by word, or our letter.
Ainsi donc, frères, tenez ferme et conservez les traditions que nous vous avons enseignées, soit par la parole, soit par la lettre.
16 Now our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and God, even our Father, which has loved us, and has given us everlasting consolation and good hope through grace, (aiōnios g166)
Or, notre Seigneur Jésus-Christ lui-même, et Dieu notre Père, qui nous a aimés et nous a donné par grâce une consolation éternelle et une bonne espérance, (aiōnios g166)
17 Comfort your hearts, and establish you in every good word and work.
réconfortent vos cœurs et vous affermissent en toute bonne œuvre et parole.
