2 Samuel 22
1 And David spoke to the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him out of the hand of all his enemies, and out of the hand of Saul:
David adressa à l’Éternel les paroles de ce cantique, lorsque l’Éternel l’eut délivré de la main de tous ses ennemis et de la main de Saül.
2 And he said, The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer;
Il dit: L’Éternel est mon rocher, ma forteresse, mon libérateur.
3 The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; you save me from violence.
Dieu est mon rocher, où je trouve un abri, Mon bouclier et la force qui me sauve, Ma haute retraite et mon refuge. O mon Sauveur! Tu me garantis de la violence.
4 I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from my enemies.
Je m’écrie: Loué soit l’Éternel! Et je suis délivré de mes ennemis.
5 When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid;
Car les flots de la mort m’avaient environné, Les torrents de la destruction m’avaient épouvanté;
Les liens du sépulcre m’avaient entouré, Les filets de la mort m’avaient surpris. (Sheol h7585)
7 In my distress I called on the LORD, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.
Dans ma détresse, j’ai invoqué l’Éternel, J’ai invoqué mon Dieu; De son palais, il a entendu ma voix, Et mon cri est parvenu à ses oreilles.
8 Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations of heaven moved and shook, because he was wroth.
La terre fut ébranlée et trembla, Les fondements des cieux frémirent, Et ils furent ébranlés, parce qu’il était irrité.
9 There went up a smoke out of his nostrils, and fire out of his mouth devoured: coals were kindled by it.
Il s’élevait de la fumée dans ses narines, Et un feu dévorant sortait de sa bouche: Il en jaillissait des charbons embrasés.
10 He bowed the heavens also, and came down; and darkness was under his feet.
Il abaissa les cieux, et il descendit: Il y avait une épaisse nuée sous ses pieds.
11 And he rode on a cherub, and did fly: and he was seen on the wings of the wind.
Il était monté sur un chérubin, et il volait, Il paraissait sur les ailes du vent.
12 And he made darkness pavilions round about him, dark waters, and thick clouds of the skies.
Il faisait des ténèbres une tente autour de lui, Il était enveloppé d’amas d’eaux et de sombres nuages.
13 Through the brightness before him were coals of fire kindled.
De la splendeur qui le précédait S’élançaient des charbons de feu.
14 The LORD thundered from heaven, and the most High uttered his voice.
L’Éternel tonna des cieux, Le Très-Haut fit retentir sa voix;
15 And he sent out arrows, and scattered them; lightning, and discomfited them.
Il lança des flèches et dispersa mes ennemis, La foudre, et les mit en déroute.
16 And the channels of the sea appeared, the foundations of the world were discovered, at the rebuking of the LORD, at the blast of the breath of his nostrils.
Le lit de la mer apparut, Les fondements du monde furent découverts, Par la menace de l’Éternel, Par le bruit du souffle de ses narines.
17 He sent from above, he took me; he drew me out of many waters;
Il étendit sa main d’en haut, il me saisit, Il me retira des grandes eaux;
18 He delivered me from my strong enemy, and from them that hated me: for they were too strong for me.
Il me délivra de mon adversaire puissant, De mes ennemis qui étaient plus forts que moi.
19 They prevented me in the day of my calamity: but the LORD was my stay.
Ils m’avaient surpris au jour de ma détresse, Mais l’Éternel fut mon appui.
20 He brought me forth also into a large place: he delivered me, because he delighted in me.
Il m’a mis au large, Il m’a sauvé, parce qu’il m’aime.
21 The LORD rewarded me according to my righteousness: according to the cleanness of my hands has he recompensed me.
L’Éternel m’a traité selon ma droiture, Il m’a rendu selon la pureté de mes mains;
22 For I have kept the ways of the LORD, and have not wickedly departed from my God.
Car j’ai observé les voies de l’Éternel, Et je n’ai point été coupable envers mon Dieu.
23 For all his judgments were before me: and as for his statutes, I did not depart from them.
Toutes ses ordonnances ont été devant moi, Et je ne me suis point écarté de ses lois.
24 I was also upright before him, and have kept myself from my iniquity.
J’ai été sans reproche envers lui, Et je me suis tenu en garde contre mon iniquité.
25 Therefore the LORD has recompensed me according to my righteousness; according to my cleanness in his eye sight.
Aussi l’Éternel m’a rendu selon ma droiture, Selon ma pureté devant ses yeux.
26 With the merciful you will show yourself merciful, and with the upright man you will show yourself upright.
Avec celui qui est bon tu te montres bon, Avec l’homme droit tu agis selon la droiture,
27 With the pure you will show yourself pure; and with the fraudulent you will show yourself unsavory.
Avec celui qui est pur tu te montres pur, Et avec le pervers tu agis selon sa perversité.
28 And the afflicted people you will save: but your eyes are on the haughty, that you may bring them down.
Tu sauves le peuple qui s’humilie, Et de ton regard, tu abaisses les orgueilleux.
29 For you are my lamp, O LORD: and the LORD will lighten my darkness.
Oui, tu es ma lumière, ô Éternel! L’Éternel éclaire mes ténèbres.
30 For by you I have run through a troop: by my God have I leaped over a wall.
Avec toi je me précipite sur une troupe en armes, Avec mon Dieu je franchis une muraille.
31 As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is tried: he is a buckler to all them that trust in him.
Les voies de Dieu sont parfaites, La parole de l’Éternel est éprouvée; Il est un bouclier pour tous ceux qui se confient en lui.
32 For who is God, save the LORD? and who is a rock, save our God?
Car qui est Dieu, si ce n’est l’Éternel? Et qui est un rocher, si ce n’est notre Dieu?
33 God is my strength and power: and he makes my way perfect.
C’est Dieu qui est ma puissante forteresse, Et qui me conduit dans la voie droite.
34 He makes my feet like hinds’ feet: and sets me on my high places.
Il rend mes pieds semblables à ceux des biches, Et il me place sur mes lieux élevés.
35 He teaches my hands to war; so that a bow of steel is broken by my arms.
Il exerce mes mains au combat, Et mes bras tendent l’arc d’airain.
36 You have also given me the shield of your salvation: and your gentleness has made me great.
Tu me donnes le bouclier de ton salut, Et je deviens grand par ta bonté.
37 You have enlarged my steps under me; so that my feet did not slip.
Tu élargis le chemin sous mes pas, Et mes pieds ne chancellent point.
38 I have pursued my enemies, and destroyed them; and turned not again until I had consumed them.
Je poursuis mes ennemis, et je les détruis; Je ne reviens pas avant de les avoir anéantis.
39 And I have consumed them, and wounded them, that they could not arise: yes, they are fallen under my feet.
Je les anéantis, je les brise, et ils ne se relèvent plus; Ils tombent sous mes pieds.
40 For you have girded me with strength to battle: them that rose up against me have you subdued under me.
Tu me ceins de force pour le combat, Tu fais plier sous moi mes adversaires.
41 You have also given me the necks of my enemies, that I might destroy them that hate me.
Tu fais tourner le dos à mes ennemis devant moi, Et j’extermine ceux qui me haïssent.
42 They looked, but there was none to save; even to the LORD, but he answered them not.
Ils regardent autour d’eux, et personne pour les sauver! Ils crient à l’Éternel, et il ne leur répond pas!
43 Then did I beat them as small as the dust of the earth, I did stamp them as the mire of the street, and did spread them abroad.
Je les broie comme la poussière de la terre, Je les écrase, je les foule, comme la boue des rues.
44 You also have delivered me from the strivings of my people, you have kept me to be head of the heathen: a people which I knew not shall serve me.
Tu me délivres des dissensions de mon peuple; Tu me conserves pour chef des nations; Un peuple que je ne connaissais pas m’est asservi.
45 Strangers shall submit themselves to me: as soon as they hear, they shall be obedient to me.
Les fils de l’étranger me flattent, Ils m’obéissent au premier ordre.
46 Strangers shall fade away, and they shall be afraid out of their close places.
Les fils de l’étranger sont en défaillance, Ils tremblent hors de leurs forteresses.
47 The LORD lives; and blessed be my rock; and exalted be the God of the rock of my salvation.
Vive l’Éternel, et béni soit mon rocher! Que Dieu, le rocher de mon salut, soit exalté,
48 It is God that avenges me, and that brings down the people under me.
Le Dieu qui est mon vengeur, Qui m’assujettit les peuples,
49 And that brings me forth from my enemies: you also have lifted me up on high above them that rose up against me: you have delivered me from the violent man.
Et qui me fait échapper à mes ennemis! Tu m’élèves au-dessus de mes adversaires, Tu me délivres de l’homme violent.
50 Therefore I will give thanks to you, O LORD, among the heathen, and I will sing praises to your name.
C’est pourquoi je te louerai parmi les nations, ô Éternel! Et je chanterai à la gloire de ton nom.
51 He is the tower of salvation for his king: and shows mercy to his anointed, to David, and to his seed for ever more.
Il accorde de grandes délivrances à son roi, Et il fait miséricorde à son oint, A David, et à sa postérité, pour toujours.
