2 Peter 1
1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us through the righteousness of God and our Savior Jesus Christ:
Simeón Pedro, un esclavo y apóstol de Jesucristo, a los que obtuvieron una fe igual a la nuestra por medio de [la] justicia de nuestro Dios y Salvador Jesucristo.
2 Grace and peace be multiplied to you through the knowledge of God, and of Jesus our Lord,
Gracia y paz les sean multiplicadas a ustedes en el conocimiento de Dios y de nuestro Señor Jesús.
3 According as his divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that has called us to glory and virtue:
Por cuanto todas las cosas que pertenecen a [la] vida y [la] piedad nos fueron concedidas mediante su divino poder a través del pleno conocimiento del que nos llamó por su propia gloria y virtud,
4 Whereby are given to us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these you might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
por medio de las cuales se nos regalaron grandísimas y preciosas promesas, a fin de que por medio de ellas seamos participantes de la naturaleza divina y escapemos de la depravación del mundo.
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
Por esto mismo, apliquen toda diligencia, añadan a su fe virtud, a la virtud conocimiento,
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
al conocimiento dominio propio, al dominio propio paciencia, a la paciencia, piedad,
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
a la piedad afecto fraternal, y al afecto fraternal amor.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that you shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Porque si estas [virtudes] están presentes y abundan en ustedes, no serán ociosos ni infructíferos en el conocimiento pleno de nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
9 But he that lacks these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and has forgotten that he was purged from his old sins.
Pero el que no tiene estas [virtudes] es ciego [o] muy corto de vista, porque olvidó [la] purificación de sus pecados pasados.
10 Why the rather, brothers, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if you do these things, you shall never fall:
Por tanto, hermanos, procuren mucho más afirmar su llamamiento y elección, pues cuando hagan esto, ¡que de ningún modo tropiecen jamás!
11 For so an entrance shall be ministered to you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (aiōnios g166)
Porque de esta manera se les proveerá amplia entrada en el reino eterno de nuestro Señor y Salvador Jesucristo. (aiōnios g166)
12 Why I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though you know them, and be established in the present truth.
Por esto, siempre les recordaré esto, aunque ustedes lo saben y están confirmados en la verdad presente.
13 Yes, I think it meet, as long as I am in this tabernacle, to stir you up by putting you in remembrance;
Mientras estoy en este cuerpo, considero justo despertarlos por medio del recuerdo,
14 Knowing that shortly I must put off this my tabernacle, even as our Lord Jesus Christ has showed me.
pues sé que pronto debo abandonar mi cuerpo, como me [lo] declaró nuestro Señor Jesucristo.
15 Moreover I will endeavor that you may be able after my decease to have these things always in remembrance.
También procuraré que ustedes recuerden siempre estas cosas después de mi partida.
16 For we have not followed cunningly devised fables, when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but were eyewitnesses of his majesty.
Cuando les proclamamos el poder y la venida de nuestro Señor Jesucristo no seguimos fábulas artificiosas, sino fuimos testigos oculares de su majestad.
17 For he received from God the Father honor and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.
Pues cuando recibió honra y gloria de Dios el Padre, se le dirigió una voz desde la majestuosa gloria: Éste es mi Hijo Amado, en Quien Yo me deleito.
18 And this voice which came from heaven we heard, when we were with him in the holy mount.
Nosotros, quienes estuvimos con Él en la Montaña Santa, escuchamos esta voz dirigida desde el cielo.
19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; to which you do well that you take heed, as to a light that shines in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:
También tenemos la Palabra profética más confiable. Hacen bien en estar atentos a esta Palabra como a una antorcha que alumbra en un lugar oscuro hasta que el día amanezca y el lucero de la mañana salga en sus corazones.
20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.
Entendemos primero que toda profecía de [la] Escritura no es de interpretación privada,
21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.
porque la profecía nunca vino por voluntad humana, sino [los ]hombres de Dios hablaron cuando fueron inspirados por el Espíritu Santo.
