2 Chronicles 16
1 In the six and thirtieth year of the reign of Asa Baasha king of Israel came up against Judah, and built Ramah, to the intent that he might let none go out or come in to Asa king of Judah.

2 Then Asa brought out silver and gold out of the treasures of the house of the LORD and of the king’s house, and sent to Benhadad king of Syria, that dwelled at Damascus, saying,
Ngakho u-Asa wathatha isiliva legolide esiphaleni senotho sethempeli likaThixo lakwesakhe esigodlweni sakhe wakuthumela kuBheni-Hadadi inkosi yase-Aramu, owayebusa eDamaseko.
3 There is a league between me and you, as there was between my father and your father: behold, I have sent you silver and gold; go, break your league with Baasha king of Israel, that he may depart from me.
Wathi, “Kasenze isivumelwano mina lawe njengalokho okwakwenziwe ngubaba loyihlo. Uyabona, nanku mina ngikuthumele isiliva legolide. Wena yesula isivumelwano sakho loBhasha inkosi yako-Israyeli yikho ezahlehla angiyekele.”
4 And Benhadad listened to king Asa, and sent the captains of his armies against the cities of Israel; and they smote Ijon, and Dan, and Abelmaim, and all the store cities of Naphtali.
UBheni-Hadadi wavumelana lenkosi u-Asa wahle wathumela abalawuli bamabutho akhe ukuba bayehlasela imizi yako-Israyeli. Banqoba elako-Ijoni, lelakoDani le-Abheli-Mayimi kanye layo yonke imizi yeziphala zakoNafithali.
5 And it came to pass, when Baasha heard it, that he left off building of Ramah, and let his work cease.
UBhasha wathi ekuzwa lokhu wema ukwakha iRama wahle wayekela umsebenzi wakhe.
6 Then Asa the king took all Judah; and they carried away the stones of Ramah, and the timber thereof, with which Baasha was building; and he built therewith Geba and Mizpah.
Ngakho inkosi u-Asa yaletha wonke amadoda akoJuda athutha amatshe lezigodo eRama okwakusetshenziswa nguBhasha. Wakha ngakho iGebha leMizipha.
7 And at that time Hanani the seer came to Asa king of Judah, and said to him, Because you have relied on the king of Syria, and not relied on the LORD your God, therefore is the host of the king of Syria escaped out of your hand.
Ngalesosikhathi uHanani umboni wafika ku-Asa inkosi yakoJuda wathi kuye: “Ngenxa yokuthi wethembele enkosini yase-Aramu wadela ukwethembela kuThixo uNkulunkulu wakho, ibutho lenkosi yase-Aramu seliphunyukile esandleni sakho.
8 Were not the Ethiopians and the Lubims a huge host, with very many chariots and horsemen? yet, because you did rely on the LORD, he delivered them into your hand.
Kanti amaKhushi lamaLibhiya babengelabutho elilamandla amakhulu lamanani amanengi ezinqola zokulwa lamadoda alwa ngamabhiza na? Kodwa-ke kwathi usuthembele kuThixo, wabanikela esandleni sakho.
9 For the eyes of the LORD run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect toward him. Herein you have done foolishly: therefore from now on you shall have wars.
Ngoba amehlo kaThixo athungatha umhlaba wonke ukuze aqinise labo abanhliziyo zabo zizimisele kuye. Usuwenze ubuwula, ngakho kusukela khathesi uzahlala usempini.”
10 Then Asa was wroth with the seer, and put him in a prison house; for he was in a rage with him because of this thing. And Asa oppressed some of the people the same time.
U-Asa wazondela umboni ngenxa yalokho; wathukuthela wahle wamfaka entolongweni. Kusenjalo u-Asa waphatha abanye babantu ngochuku.
11 And, behold, the acts of Asa, first and last, see, they are written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
Izehlakalo zombuso ka-Asa, kusukela ekuqaleni kuze kube sekupheleni, zilotshwe egwalweni lwamakhosi akoJuda lawako-Israyeli.
12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians.
Ngomnyaka wamatshumi amathathu layisificamunwemunye wokubusa kwakhe u-Asa wahlaselwa ngumkhuhlane ezinyaweni zakhe. Loba umkhuhlane wakhe wawubuhlungu kakhulu, kazange adinge usizo kuThixo, kodwa wayesiya ezinyangeni.
13 And Asa slept with his fathers, and died in the one and fortieth year of his reign.
Kwathi ngomnyaka wamatshumi amane lowodwa u-Asa wafa walala kunye laboyise.
14 And they buried him in his own sepulchers, which he had made for himself in the city of David, and laid him in the bed which was filled with sweet odors and divers kinds of spices prepared by the apothecaries’ are: and they made a very great burning for him.
Bamngcwaba ethuneni ayezenzele lona eMzini kaDavida. Bambeka phezu kwethala elaligcwele amakha enhlobo ngenhlobo ayexutshwe ngokuhlakanipha kwezingcitshi zamakha, babasa umlilo omkhulu wokumhlonipha.
