< 1 Samuel 22 >
1 David therefore departed there, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brothers and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him.
Daawit Gaatii kaʼee gara holqa Adulaamitti baqate. Obboloonni isaatii fi maatiin abbaa isaa hundi yeroo waan kana dhagaʼanitti gara isaa dhaqan.
2 And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves to him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

3 And David went there to Mizpeh of Moab: and he said to the king of Moab, Let my father and my mother, I pray you, come forth, and be with you, till I know what God will do for me.
Daawit achii kaʼee Miisphaa ishee biyya Moʼaabitti argamtuu dhaqee mooticha Moʼaabiin, “Hamma ani waan Waaqni naaf godhu beekutti akka abbaan koo fi haati koo dhufanii si bira jiraatan ni eeyyamtaa?” jedhe.
4 And he brought them before the king of Moab: and they dwelled with him all the while that David was in the hold.
Innis mootii Moʼaab biratti isaan dhiise; isaanis yeroo Daawit iddoo daʼannoo keessa turetti mooticha bira jiraatan.
5 And the prophet Gad said to David, Abide not in the hold; depart, and get you into the land of Judah. Then David departed, and came into the forest of Hareth.
Taʼus Gaad raajichi Daawitiin, “Daʼannoo keessa hin turin. Biyya Yihuudaatti gali” jedhe. Kanaafuu Daawit achii baʼee bosona Hereeti seene.
6 When Saul heard that David was discovered, and the men that were with him, (now Saul stayed in Gibeah under a tree in Ramah, having his spear in his hand, and all his servants were standing about him; )

7 Then Saul said to his servants that stood about him, Hear now, you Benjamites; will the son of Jesse give every one of you fields and vineyards, and make you all captains of thousands, and captains of hundreds;
Saaʼolis akkana isaaniin jedhe; “Yaa namoota Beniyaam dhagaʼaa! Dhugumaan ilmi Isseey lafa qotiisaatii fi iddoo dhaabaa wayinii hunda keessaniif ni kennaa? Hunda keessanis ajajjuuwwan kumaatii fi ajajjuuwwan dhibbaa ni godhaa?
8 That all of you have conspired against me, and there is none that shows me that my son has made a league with the son of Jesse, and there is none of you that is sorry for me, or shows to me that my son has stirred up my servant against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
Sababiin isin hundi natti malattaniif kanaa? Yeroo ilmi koo ilma Isseey wajjin kakuu galutti namni tokko iyyuu natti hin himu. 9 Then answered Doeg the Edomite, which was set over the servants of Saul, and said, I saw the son of Jesse coming to Nob, to Ahimelech the son of Ahitub.
Garuu Dooʼeeg Edoomichi kan qondaaltota Saaʼol wajjin dhaabachaa ture sun akkana jedhee deebise; “Ani ilma Isseey isaa gara Noob Ahiimelek ilma Ahiixuub bira dhufuu nan arge.
10 And he inquired of the LORD for him, and gave him victuals, and gave him the sword of Goliath the Philistine.
Abiimelekis Waaqayyoon isaaf kadhate; akkasumas galaa fi goraadee Gooliyaad Filisxeemichaa kenneef.”
11 Then the king sent to call Ahimelech the priest, the son of Ahitub, and all his father’s house, the priests that were in Nob: and they came all of them to the king.

Saaʼolis, “Yaa ilma Ahiixuub dhagaʼi” jedhe. Innis, “Yaa gooftaa, ani kunoo ti” jedhee deebise.
13 And Saul said to him, Why have you conspired against me, you and the son of Jesse, in that you have given him bread, and a sword, and have inquired of God for him, that he should rise against me, to lie in wait, as at this day?
Saaʼolis akkana isaan jedhe; “Ati maaliif buddeenaa fi goraadee kenniteefii Waaqa kadhachuufiidhaan akka inni natti fincilee akkuma harʼa gochaa jiru kana riphee na eeggatu isa gootee ilma Isseey wajjin natti malatte?”
14 Then Ahimelech answered the king, and said, And who is so faithful among all your servants as David, which is the king’s son in law, and goes at your bidding, and is honorable in your house?
Ahiimelekis deebisee mootichaan akkana jedhe; “Dhirsi intala mootichaa, ajajaa loltoota si eeganiitii fi namni mana kee keessatti akka malee kabajamu tajaajiltoota kee hunda keessaa amanamaan akka Daawit eenyu?
15 Did I then begin to inquire of God for him? be it far from me: let not the king impute any thing to his servant, nor to all the house of my father: for your servant knew nothing of all this, less or more.
Waaqa isaaf kadhachuun koo harʼa guyyaa jalqabaatii? Miti! Mootichi garbicha kee yookaan maatii abbaa isaa keessaa nama tokko illee yakkamaa hin godhin; garbichi kee waaʼee waan kana hundaa homaa hin beekuutii.”

Mootichi garuu, “Yaa Ahiimelek, dhugumaan ati ni duuta; atis, maatiin abbaa keetii hundinuus ni duutu” jedhe.
17 And the king said to the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not show it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall on the priests of the LORD.
Ergasiis mootichi waardiyyoota isa bira turaniin, “Sababii luboonni Waaqayyoo kunneen Daawitiif tumsaniif, itti garagalaatii isaan fixaa. 18 And the king said to Doeg, Turn you, and fall on the priests. And Doeg the Edomite turned, and he fell on the priests, and slew on that day fourscore and five persons that did wear a linen ephod.
