1 Corinthians 1
1 Paul called to be an apostle of Jesus Christ through the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
Paavali, kutsuttu Jesuksen Kristuksen apostoliksi Jumalan tahdon kautta, ja Sostenes veli,
2 To the church of God which is at Corinth, to them that are sanctified in Christ Jesus, called to be saints, with all that in every place call on the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, both theirs and ours:
Sille Jumalan seurakunnalle, joka on Korintossa, pyhitetyille Kristuksessa Jesuksessa, kutsutuille pyhille ynnä kaikkein niiden kanssa, jotka meidän Herran Jesuksen Kristuksen nimeä avuksensa huutavat, jokaisessa heidän ja meidän siassamme.
3 Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
Armo olkoon teille ja rauha Jumalalta, meidän isältämme, ja Herralta Jesukselta Kristukselta.
4 I thank my God always on your behalf, for the grace of God which is given you by Jesus Christ;
Minä kiitän Jumalaani aina teidän tähtenne, sen Jumalan armon edestä, joka teille Jesuksessa Kristuksessa annettu on:
5 That in every thing you are enriched by him, in all utterance, and in all knowledge;
Että te olette kaikissa rikkaaksi tehdyt hänessä, kaikessa opissa ja kaikessa tuntemisessa.
6 Even as the testimony of Christ was confirmed in you:
Sillä todistus Kristuksesta on teissä vahvistettu,
7 So that you come behind in no gift; waiting for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ:
Niin ettei teiltä jossakussa lahjassa mitään puutu, jotka odotatte meidän Herran Jesuksen Kristuksen ilmoitusta,
8 Who shall also confirm you to the end, that you may be blameless in the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Joka myös teitä loppuun asti vahvistaa, että te olisitte nuhteettomat meidän Herran Jesuksen Kristuksen päivänä.
9 God is faithful, by whom you were called to the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.
Sillä Jumala on uskollinen, jonka kautta te kutsutut olette hänen Poikansa Jesuksen Kristuksen, meidän Herramme yhteyteen.
10 Now I beseech you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you; but that you be perfectly joined together in the same mind and in the same judgment.
Mutta minä neuvon teitä, rakkaat veljet, meidän Herran Jesuksen Kristuksen nimen kautta, että te kaikki yhdenkaltaisen puheen pitäisitte, ja ettei teidän seassanne eriseuroja olisi, vaan olkaat sovitetut yhdessä mielessä ja yhdessä neuvossa.
11 For it has been declared to me of you, my brothers, by them which are of the house of Chloe, that there are contentions among you.
Sillä minun korvilleni on tullut teistä, rakkaat veljet, Kloen perheen kautta, että riidat ovat teillä keskenänne.
12 Now this I say, that every one of you says, I am of Paul; and I of Apollos; and I of Cephas; and I of Christ.
Niin minä sanon sitä, että kukin teistä sanoo: minä olen Paavalin, minä olen Apollon, minä Kephaan, minä Kristuksen.
13 Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
Lieneekö Kristus jaettu, vai onko Paavali teidän edestänne ristiinnaulittu? eli oletteko te Paavalin nimeen kastetut?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, but Crispus and Gaius;
Minä kiitän Jumalaa, etten minä ole yhtään teistä kastanut, vaan Krispuksen ja Gajuksen:
15 Lest any should say that I had baptized in my own name.
Ettei kenkään saa sanoa, että minä minun nimeeni ketään kastin.
16 And I baptized also the household of Stephanas: besides, I know not whether I baptized any other.
Minä kastin myös Stephanaan perheen; sitte en minä tiedä, jos minä jonkun muun kastanut olen.
17 For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.
Sillä ei Kristus minua lähettänyt kastamaan, vaan evankeliumia saarnaamaan, ei sanan viisaudella, ettei Kristuksen risti turhaan menisi.
18 For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but to us which are saved it is the power of God.
Sillä se puhe rististä on niille hulluus, jotka kadotetaan; mutta meille, jotka autuaaksi tulemme, on se Jumalan voima.
19 For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent.
Sillä kirjoitettu on: minä kadotan viisasten viisauden, ja ymmärtäväisten ymmärryksen minä hylkään.
20 Where is the wise? where is the scribe? where is the disputer of this world? has not God made foolish the wisdom of this world? (aiōn g165)
Kussas on viisas? kussas on kirjanoppinut? kussas tämän maailman tutkia on? Eikö Jumala ole tämän maailman viisautta hulluudeksi tehnyt? (aiōn g165)
21 For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.
Sillä että Jumalan viisaudessa ei maailma tuntenut Jumalaa viisauden kautta, niin kelpasi Jumalalle tyhmän saarnan kautta niitä vapahtaa, jotka sen uskovat,
22 For the Jews require a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom:
Sentähden että Juudalaiset merkkiä anovat ja Grekiläiset viisautta etsivät;
23 But we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness;
Mutta me saarnaamme ristiinnaulitun Kristuksen Juudalaisille pahennukseksi ja Grekiläisille hulluudeksi.
24 But to them which are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God, and the wisdom of God.
Mutta kutsutuille sekä Juudalaisille että Grekiläisille saarnaamme me Kristuksen Jumalan voimaksi ja Jumalan viisaudeksi.
25 Because the foolishness of God is wiser than men; and the weakness of God is stronger than men.
Sillä Jumalan hulluus on viisaampi kuin ihmiset, ja Jumalan heikkous on väkevämpi kuin ihmiset.
26 For you see your calling, brothers, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:
Te näette, rakkaat veljet, teidän kutsumisenne, ettei monta lihallista viisasta, ei monta voimallista, ei myös monta suuresta suvusta,
27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;
Vaan ne, jotka maailman edessä hullut ovat, on Jumala valinnut, että hän viisaat häpiään saattais; ja ne, jotka heikot ovat maailman edessä, on Jumala valinnut, että hän väkevät häpiään saattais;
28 And base things of the world, and things which are despised, has God chosen, yes, and things which are not, to bring to nothing things that are:
Ja ne alimmaisesta suvusta ja ylönkatsotut maailmassa on Jumala valinnut, ja ne, jotka ei mitään ole, että hän ne, jotka jotakin ovat, turhaksi tekis;
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
Ettei hänen edessänsä yksikään liha kerskaisi.
30 But of him are you in Christ Jesus, who of God is made to us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Mutta te olette hänestä Kristuksessa Jesuksessa, joka meille on Jumalalta tehty viisaudeksi, ja vanhurskaudeksi, ja pyhitykseksi ja lunastukseksi:
31 That, according as it is written, He that glories, let him glory in the Lord.
Että niinkuin kirjoitettu on: joka itsiänsä kerskaa, hän kerskatkaan itsiänsä Herrassa.
