Zechariah 7
1 And it came to pass in the fourth year of king Darius, that the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah in the fourth day of the ninth month, even in Chislev;
Y sucedió que en el cuarto año del rey Darío, la palabra del Señor vino a Zacarías el cuarto día del noveno mes, el mes de Quisleu.
2 When Bethel-sarezer, and Regem-melech and his men, had sent to entreat the favour of the LORD,
Ahora ellos de Betel habían enviado a Sarezer y Regem-melec para pedirle al Señor que les de favor.
3 and to speak unto the priests of the house of the LORD of hosts, and to the prophets, saying: 'Should I weep in the fifth month, separating myself, as I have done these so many years?'
Y para decir a los sacerdotes de la casa del Señor de los ejércitos y a los profetas: ¿Debemos seguir llorando en el quinto mes, abstenernos como lo hemos hecho en los últimos años?
4 Then came the word of the LORD of hosts unto me, saying:
Entonces vino a mí la palabra del Señor de los ejércitos, diciendo:
5 'Speak unto all the people of the land, and to the priests, saying: When ye fasted and mourned in the fifth and in the seventh month, even these seventy years, did ye at all fast unto Me, even to Me?
Di a toda la gente de la tierra y a los sacerdotes: Cuando hiciste ayuno y guardan luto en el quinto y séptimo mes durante estos setenta años, ¿alguna vez lo hiciste por mi?
6 And when ye eat, and when ye drink, are ye not they that eat, and they that drink?
Y cuando festejan y beben, ¿no lo hacen solo para ustedes mismos?
7 Should ye not hearken to the words which the LORD hath proclaimed by the former prophets, when Jerusalem was inhabited and in prosperity, and the cities thereof round about her, and the South and the Lowland were inhabited?'
¿No son estas las palabras que el Señor les dijo por los profetas anteriores, cuando Jerusalén estaba llena de gente y riqueza, y las ciudades alrededor de ella, el sur y las tierras bajas estaban pobladas?
8 And the word of the LORD came unto Zechariah, saying:
Y la palabra del Señor vino a Zacarías, diciendo:
9 'Thus hath the LORD of hosts spoken, saying: Execute true judgment, and show mercy and compassion every man to his brother;
Esto es lo que el Señor de los ejércitos ha dicho: Que tu juicio sea recto y de buena fe, que cada hombre tenga misericordia y compasión de su hermano:
10 and oppress not the widow, nor the fatherless, the stranger, nor the poor; and let none of you devise evil against his brother in your heart.
No oprimas a la viuda, o el huérfano, al extranjero, a los pobres; y ni tramen él mal en sus corazones unos contra otros.
11 But they refused to attend, and turned a stubborn shoulder, and stopped their ears, that they might not hear.
Pero no prestaron atención, volvieron la espalda y se hicieron los sordos;
12 Yea, they made their hearts as an adamant stone, lest they should hear the law, and the words which the LORD of hosts had sent by His spirit by the hand of the former prophets; therefore came there great wrath from the LORD of hosts.
E hicieron sus corazones duros como un diamante, para no oír la ley y las palabras que el Señor de los ejércitos había dicho por él Espíritu Santo y los profetas anteriores; y vino gran ira del Señor de los ejércitos.
13 And it came to pass that, as He called, and they would not hear; so they shall call, and I will not hear, said the LORD of hosts;
Y sucedió que como no escucharon mi voz, yo tampoco los escucharé, dice el Señor de los ejércitos.
14 but I will scatter them with a whirlwind among all the nations whom they have not known. Thus the land was desolate after them, so that no man passed through nor returned; for they laid the pleasant land desolate.'
Pero con un viento de tormenta los envié huyendo entre todas las naciones las cuales conocían. De modo que la tierra fue arruinada tras ellos, de modo que ningún hombre fuese ni viniese, porque convirtieron en desolación la tierra deseada.
