Zechariah 2
1 And I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and behold a man with a measuring line in his hand.
Et je levai les yeux et regardai, et voici un homme ayant dans sa main un cordeau à mesurer.
2 Then said I: 'Whither goest thou?' And he said unto me: 'To measure Jerusalem, to see what is the breadth thereof, and what is the length thereof.'
Et je dis: Où vas-tu? Et il me dit: Prendre la mesure de Jérusalem, voir quelle en sera la largeur, et quelle en sera la longueur.
3 And, behold, the angel that spoke with me went forth, and another angel went out to meet him,
Et voici, l'ange qui parlait avec moi s'avança, et un autre ange s'avança au-devant de lui.
4 and said unto him: 'Run, speak to this young man, saying: 'Jerusalem shall be inhabited without walls for the multitude of men and cattle therein.
Et il dit à celui-ci: Cours! et parle ainsi à ce jeune homme-là: Jérusalem sera habitée comme ville ouverte, tant il y aura d'hommes et de bestiaux en son sein;
5 For I, saith the LORD, will be unto her a wall of fire round about, and I will be the glory in the midst of her.
et moi je serai pour elle, dit l'Éternel, un mur de feu qui l'entoure, et je serai une gloire au milieu d'elle.
6 Ho, ho, flee then from the land of the north, saith the LORD; for I have spread you abroad as the four winds of the heaven, saith the LORD.
Sus! sus! fuyez du pays du nord, dit l'Éternel, car je vous ai disséminés aux quatre vents des Cieux, dit l'Éternel.
7 Ho, Zion, escape, thou that dwellest with the daughter of Babylon.'
Sus, ô Sion! sauve-toi, toi qui habites chez la fille de Babel!
8 For thus saith the LORD of hosts who sent me after glory unto the nations which spoiled you: 'Surely, he that toucheth you toucheth the apple of his eye.
Car ainsi parle l'Éternel des armées: C'est après la gloire qu'il m'a envoyé chez les peuples qui vous ont dépouillés (car qui vous touche, touche à la prunelle de son œil).
9 For, behold, I will shake My hand over them, and they shall be a spoil to those that served them'; and ye shall know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me.
En effet voici, je brandis ma main sur eux et ils seront la proie de ceux qui leur furent asservis, et vous saurez que l'Éternel des armées m'a envoyé.
10 'Sing and rejoice, O daughter of Zion; for, lo, I come, and I will dwell in the midst of thee, saith the LORD.
Sois dans la joie et l'allégresse, fille de Sion! car voici, je viens et j'habiterai dans ton sein, dit l'Éternel.
11 And many nations shall join themselves to the LORD in that day, and shall be My people, and I will dwell in the midst of thee'; and thou shalt know that the LORD of hosts hath sent me unto thee.
Et beaucoup de peuples s'attacheront à l'Éternel en ce jour-là, et deviendront mon peuple, et j'habiterai dans ton sein et tu sauras que l'Éternel des armées m'a envoyé auprès de toi.
12 And the LORD shall inherit Judah as His portion in the holy land, and shall choose Jerusalem again.
Et l'Éternel possédera Juda comme son lot dans la terre sainte, et fera encore choix de Jérusalem.
13 Be silent, all flesh, before the LORD; for He is aroused out of His holy habitation.
Silence, vous tous qui êtes chair, en présence de l'Éternel! car II se lève de sa demeure sainte.
