Zechariah 1
1 IN THE eighth month, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying:
I den åttende måned i Darius' annet år kom Herrens ord til profeten Sakarias, sønn av Berekias, sønn av Iddo, og det lød så:
2 'The LORD hath been sore displeased with your fathers.
Stor var Herrens vrede mot eders fedre.
3 Therefore say thou unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Return unto Me, saith the LORD of hosts, and I will return unto you, saith the LORD of hosts.
Og du skal si til dem: Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Vend om til mig, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, så vil jeg vende om til eder, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud.
4 Be ye not as your fathers, unto whom the former prophets proclaimed, saying: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: Return ye now from your evil ways, and from your evil doings; but they did not hear, nor attend unto Me, saith the LORD.
Vær ikke lik eders fedre, som de forrige profeter formante med disse ord: Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Vend om fra eders onde veier og eders onde gjerninger! Men de hørte ikke og aktet ikke på mig, sier Herren.
5 Your fathers, where are they? and the prophets, do they live for ever?
Eders fedre, hvor er de? Og profetene, kan de leve til evig tid?
6 But My words and My statutes, which I commanded My servants the prophets, did they not overtake your fathers? so that they turned and said: Like as the LORD of hosts purposed to do unto us, according to our ways, and according to our doings, so hath He dealt with us.'
Men mine ord og mine råd, som jeg bød mine tjenere profetene å forkynne, har ikke de nådd eders fedre, så de vendte om og sa: Som Herren, hærskarenes Gud, hadde i sinne å gjøre med oss efter våre veier og våre gjerninger, således har han gjort med oss?
7 Upon the four and twentieth day of the eleventh month, which is the month Shebat, in the second year of Darius, came the word of the LORD unto Zechariah the son of Berechiah, the son of Iddo, the prophet, saying —
På den fire og tyvende dag i den ellevte måned, det er måneden sebat, i Darius' annet år, kom Herrens ord til profeten Sakarias, sønn av Berekias, sønn av Iddo, og det lød så:
8 I saw in the night, and behold a man riding upon a red horse, and he stood among the myrtle-trees that were in the bottom; and behind him there were horses, red, sorrel, and white.
Jeg hadde et syn om natten: Jeg så en mann som red på en rød hest, og han holdt stille blandt myrtetrærne i dalbunnen; og bak ham var det røde, blakke og hvite hester.
9 Then said I: 'O my lord, what are these?' And the angel that spoke with me said unto me: 'I will show thee what these are.'
Da sa jeg: Hvad er dette, herre? Og engelen som talte med mig, sa til mig: Jeg vil la dig se hvad dette er.
10 And the man that stood among the myrtle-trees answered and said: 'These are they whom the LORD hath sent to walk to and fro through the earth.'
Da tok mannen som holdt stille blandt myrtetrærne, til orde og sa: Dette er de som Herren har sendt ut for å fare omkring på jorden.
11 And they answered the angel of the LORD that stood among the myrtle-trees, and said: 'We have walked to and fro through the earth, and, behold, all the earth sitteth still, and is at rest.'
Og de svarte Herrens engel, som holdt stille blandt myrtetrærne, og sa: Vi har faret omkring på jorden og sett at hele jorden er rolig og stille.
12 Then the angel of the LORD spoke and said: 'O LORD of hosts, how long wilt Thou not have compassion on Jerusalem and on the cities of Judah, against which Thou hast had indignation these threescore and ten years?
Da tok Herrens engel til orde og sa: Herre, hærskarenes Gud! Hvor lenge skal det vare før du forbarmer dig over Jerusalem og Judas byer, som du har vært vred på nu i sytti år?
13 And the LORD answered the angel that spoke with me with good words, even comforting words —
Og Herren svarte engelen som talte med mig, gode og trøstefulle ord.
14 so the angel that spoke with me said unto me: 'Proclaim thou, saying: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: I am jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great jealousy;
Og engelen som talte med mig, sa til mig: Rop ut disse ord: Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Jeg er såre nidkjær for Jerusalem og Sion,
15 and I am very sore displeased with the nations that are at ease; for I was but a little displeased, and they helped for evil.
og såre vred er jeg på de trygge hedningefolk; for jeg var bare litt vred, men de hjalp med til ulykken.
16 Therefore thus saith the LORD: I return to Jerusalem with compassions: My house shall be built in it, saith the LORD of hosts, and a line shall be stretched forth over Jerusalem.
Derfor sier Herren så: Jeg vender mig atter til Jerusalem med miskunnhet; mitt hus skal bygges der, sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud, og målesnoren skal strekkes ut over Jerusalem.
17 Again, proclaim, saying: Thus saith the LORD of hosts: My cities shall again overflow with prosperity; and the LORD shall yet comfort Zion, and shall yet choose Jerusalem.'
Rop atter og si: Så sier Herren, hærskarenes Gud: Ennu en gang skal mine byer flyte over av det som godt er, og Herren skal ennu en gang trøste Sion og ennu en gang utvelge Jerusalem.
18 And I lifted up mine eyes, and saw, and behold four horns.
Og jeg løftet mine øine op og fikk se fire horn.
19 And I said unto the angel that spoke with me: 'What are these?' And he said unto me: 'These are the horns which have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.'
Da spurte jeg engelen som talte med mig: Hvad er dette? Og han sa til mig: Dette er de horn som har adspredt Juda, Israel og Jerusalem.
20 And the LORD showed me four craftsmen.
Så lot Herren mig se fire smeder.
21 Then said I: 'What come these to do?' And he spoke, saying: 'These — the horns which scattered Judah, so that no man did lift up his head — these then are come to frighten them, to cast down the horns of the nations, which lifted up their horn against the land of Judah to scatter it.'
Da spurte jeg: Hvad kommer disse her for? Han svarte: Hornene har adspredt Juda, således at ingen vågde å løfte sitt hode, og nu er disse kommet for å forferde dem og slå av hornene på de hedningefolk som har løftet horn mot Juda land for å adsprede det.
