Psalms 89
1 Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever; to all generations will I make known Thy faithfulness with my mouth.
Ngizahlabela ngezisa zeNkosi, kuze kube nininini; ngomlomo wami ngizakwazisa ukuthembeka kwakho kusizukulwana lesizukulwana.
2 For I have said: 'For ever is mercy built; in the very heavens Thou dost establish Thy faithfulness.
Ngoba ngithe: Umusa uzakwakhiwa kuze kube phakade; emazulwini ngokwawo uzaqinisa uthembeko lwakho.
3 I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn unto David My servant:
Ngenze isivumelwano lomkhethwa wami, ngifungile kuDavida inceku yami.
4 For ever will I establish thy seed, and build up thy throne to all generations.' (Selah)
Ngizaqinisa inzalo yakho kuze kube nininini, ngakhe isihlalo sakho sobukhosi esizukulwaneni lesizukulwana. (Sela)
5 So shall the heavens praise Thy wonders, O LORD, Thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.
Lamazulu azadumisa izimangaliso zakho, Nkosi, lalo uthembeko lwakho ebandleni labangcwele.
6 For who in the skies can be compared unto the LORD, who among the sons of might can be likened unto the LORD,
Ngoba ngubani esibhakabhakeni ongafananiswa leNkosi? Ngubani ofanana leNkosi phakathi kwamadodana abalamandla?
7 A God dreaded in the great council of the holy ones, and feared of all them that are about Him?
UNkulunkulu uyesabeka kakhulu emhlanganweni wabangcwele, njalo umele ukuhlonitshwa phezu kwabo bonke abamhanqileyo.
8 O LORD God of hosts, who is a mighty one, like unto Thee, O LORD? And Thy faithfulness is round about Thee.
Nkosi Nkulunkulu wamabandla, ngubani olamandla njengawe, Nkosi? Lothembeko lwakho lukuhanqile.
9 Thou rulest the proud swelling of the sea; when the waves thereof arise, Thou stillest them.
Wena uyabusa ukukhukhumala kolwandle; lapho amagagasi alo ephakama wena uyawathulisa.
10 Thou didst crush Rahab, as one that is slain; Thou didst scatter Thine enemies with the arm of Thy strength.
Wena wamchoboza uRahabi njengobuleweyo, wazihlakaza izitha zakho ngengalo yamandla akho.
11 Thine are the heavens, Thine also the earth; the world and the fulness thereof, Thou hast founded them.
Amazulu ngawakho, lomhlaba ngowakho; ilizwe lokugcwala kwalo, wena wakusekela.
12 The north and the south, Thou hast created them; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Thy name.
Inyakatho leningizimu wakudala wena; iThabhori leHermoni kuzajabula ngebizo lakho.
13 Thine is an arm with might; strong is Thy hand, and exalted is Thy right hand.
Ulengalo elamandla, isandla sakho siqinile, isandla sakho sokunene siphakeme.
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Thy throne; mercy and truth go before Thee.
Ukulunga lesahlulelo kuyisisekelo sesihlalo sakho sobukhosi; umusa leqiniso kuhamba phambi kobuso bakho.
15 Happy is the people that know the joyful shout; they walk, O LORD, in the light of Thy countenance.
Babusisiwe abantu abawaziyo umsindo wentokozo; bazahamba ekukhanyeni kobuso bakho, Nkosi.
16 In Thy name do they rejoice all the day; and through Thy righteousness are they exalted.
Ebizweni lakho bazathokoza usuku lonke, langokulunga kwakho bazaphakanyiswa.
17 For Thou art the glory of their strength; and in Thy favour our horn is exalted.
Ngoba wena uludumo lwamandla abo; langomusa wakho uphondo lwethu luzaphakanyiswa.
18 For of the LORD is our shield; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.
Ngoba isihlangu sethu singeseNkosi, lenkosi yethu ingeyoNgcwele kaIsrayeli.
19 Then Thou spokest in vision to Thy godly ones, and saidst: 'I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
Khona wakhuluma ngombono kongcwele wakho, wathi: Ngibekile usizo phezu kweqhawe, ngimphakamisile okhethiweyo phakathi kwabantu.
20 I have found David My servant; with My holy oil have I anointed him;
Ngithole uDavida inceku yami, ngamafutha ami angcwele ngimgcobile,
21 With whom My hand shall be established; Mine arm also shall strengthen him.
osandla sami sizakuba laye siqinile, ingalo yami layo izamqinisa.
22 The enemy shall not exact from him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
Isitha kasiyikumcindezela, lendodana yenkohlakalo kayiyikumhlupha.
23 And I will beat to pieces his adversaries before him, and smite them that hate him.
Ngizazichoboza izitha zakhe phambi kobuso bakhe, ngihluphe abamzondayo.
24 But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him; and through My name shall his horn be exalted.
Kodwa uthembeko lwami lomusa wami kuzakuba laye, lebizweni lami luzaphakanyiswa uphondo lwakhe.
25 I will set his hand also on the sea, and his right hand on the rivers.
Njalo ngizabeka isandla sakhe olwandle, lesandla sakhe sokunene emifuleni.
26 He shall call unto Me: Thou art my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
Yena uzangibiza ngokuthi: Wena ungubaba wami, uNkulunkulu wami, ledwala losindiso lwami.
27 I also will appoint him first-born, the highest of the kings of the earth.
Njalo mina ngizammisa abe lizibulo, aphakame kakhulu kulamakhosi omhlaba.
28 For ever will I keep for him My mercy, and My covenant shall stand fast with him.
Ngizaligcinela umusa wami kuze kube nininini, lesivumelwano sami sizaqina kuye.
29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
Njalo ngizamisa inzalo yakhe kuze kube nininini, lesihlalo sakhe sobukhosi njengensuku zamazulu.
30 If his children forsake My law, and walk not in Mine ordinances;
Uba abantwana bakhe betshiya umlayo wami, bangahambi ngezahlulelo zami,
31 If they profane My statutes, and keep not My commandments;
uba besephula izimiso zami, bengagcini imithetho yami,
32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with strokes.
ngizaphindisela iziphambeko zabo ngenduku, lesono sabo ngenswazi.
33 But My mercy will I not break off from him, nor will I be false to My faithfulness.
Kodwa kangiyikulususa du uthandolomusa wami kuye, ngingakhohlisi ngothembeko lwami.
34 My covenant will I not profane, nor alter that which is gone out of My lips.
Kangiyikwephula isivumelwano sami, lalokho okuphuma endebeni zami kangiyikukuguqula.
35 Once have I sworn by My holiness: Surely I will not be false unto David;
Ngafunga kwaba kanye ngobungcwele bami: Kangiyikuqamba amanga kuDavida.
36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before Me.
Inzalo yakhe izakuba khona kuze kube nininini, lesihlalo sakhe sobukhosi njengelanga phambi kwami.
37 It shall be established for ever as the moon; and be stedfast as the witness in sky.' (Selah)
Sizaqiniswa njengenyanga kuze kube nininini, lobufakazi emayezini bumi buqinile. (Sela)
38 But Thou hast cast off and rejected, Thou hast been wroth with Thine anointed.
Kodwa wena usulahlile wala, wamthukuthelela ogcotshiweyo wakho.
39 Thou hast abhorred the covenant of Thy servant; Thou hast profaned his crown even to the ground.
Usenze ize isivumelwano senceku yakho; wangcolisa umqhele wakhe emhlabathini.
40 Thou hast broken down all his fences; Thou hast brought his strongholds to ruin.
Uyibhobozile yonke imithangala yakhe, wazenza inqaba zakhe amanxiwa.
41 All that pass by the way spoil him; he is become a taunt to his neighbours.
Bonke abadlula ngendlela bayamphanga; ulihlazo kubomakhelwane bakhe.
42 Thou hast exalted the right hand of his adversaries; Thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
Usiphakamisile isandla sokunene sabamelene laye; wazithokozisa zonke izitha zakhe.
43 Yea, Thou turnest back the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.
Futhi ubuyisele emuva ubukhali benkemba yakhe; kawumenzanga ame empini.
44 Thou hast made his brightness to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.
Uyiqedile inkazimulo yakhe, lesihlalo sakhe sobukhosi wasiphosela emhlabathini.
45 The days of his youth hast Thou shortened; Thou hast covered him with shame. (Selah)
Ufinyezile insuku zobutsha bakhe, wamembesa ihlazo. (Sela)
46 How long, O LORD, wilt Thou hide Thyself for ever? How long shall Thy wrath burn like fire?
Koze kube nini, Nkosi, ucatsha kuze kube phakade? Ulaka lwakho luvutha njengomlilo yini?
47 O remember how short my time is; for what vanity hast Thou created all the children of men!
Khumbula ukuthi isikhathi sempilo yami singakanani; kungani wadalela ize bonke abantwana babantu?
48 What man is he that liveth and shall not see death, that shall deliver his soul from the power of the grave? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Ngubani umuntu ophilayo ongaboni ukufa? Akhulule umphefumulo wakhe esandleni sengcwaba na? (Sela) (Sheol h7585)
49 Where are Thy former mercies, O Lord, which Thou didst swear unto David in Thy faithfulness?
Zingaphi izisa zakho zakuqala, Nkosi, owazifunga kuDavida ngothembeko lwakho?
50 Remember, Lord, the taunt of Thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the taunt of so many peoples;
Khumbula, Nkosi, ihlazo lezinceku zakho, engilithwele esifubeni sami, elazo zonke izizwe ezinengi,
51 Wherewith Thine enemies have taunted, O LORD, wherewith they have taunted the footsteps of Thine anointed.
izitha zakho ezithuke ngalo, Nkosi, ezithuke ngalo izinyathelo zogcotshiweyo wakho.
52 Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.
