Psalms 89
1 Maschil of Ethan the Ezrahite. I will sing of the mercies of the LORD for ever; to all generations will I make known Thy faithfulness with my mouth.
Ihubo lika-Ethani umEzira Ngizahlabelela ngothando lukaThixo olukhulu lanininini; ngomlomo wami ngizakwenza ukuthembeka kwakho kwaziwe ezizukulwaneni zonke.
2 For I have said: 'For ever is mercy built; in the very heavens Thou dost establish Thy faithfulness.
Ngizamemezela ukuthi uthando lwakho lumi luqinile laphakade, ukuthi ukuthembeka kwakho wakugxilisa ezulwini uqobo.
3 I have made a covenant with My chosen, I have sworn unto David My servant:
Wathi, “Sengenze isivumelwano lalowo okhethiweyo wami, sengifungile kuDavida inceku yami,
4 For ever will I establish thy seed, and build up thy throne to all generations.' (Selah)
‘Ngizawumisa umndeni wakho laphakade, ngisiqinise isihlalo sakho sobukhosi kuzozonke izizukulwane.’”
5 So shall the heavens praise Thy wonders, O LORD, Thy faithfulness also in the assembly of the holy ones.
Amazulu ayazidumisa izimanga zakho, Oh Thixo, lokuthembeka kwakho emhlanganweni wabangcwele.
6 For who in the skies can be compared unto the LORD, who among the sons of might can be likened unto the LORD,
Phela ngubani onjengoThixo phakathi kwabaphilayo ezulwini na? Ngubani onjengoThixo phakathi kwabaphilayo ezulwini na?
7 A God dreaded in the great council of the holy ones, and feared of all them that are about Him?
Enhlanganisweni yabangcwele uNkulunkulu uyesatshwa kakhulu; uyesabeka kulabo bonke abahlezi laye.
8 O LORD God of hosts, who is a mighty one, like unto Thee, O LORD? And Thy faithfulness is round about Thee.
Yebo Thixo Nkulunkulu Somandla, ngubani onjengawe na? Ulamandla, Oh Thixo, ukuthembeka kwakho kukuhonqolozele.
9 Thou rulest the proud swelling of the sea; when the waves thereof arise, Thou stillest them.
Uyabusa phezu kolwandle olugubhazelayo; lapho amavinqo alo equbuka, uyawathulisa.
10 Thou didst crush Rahab, as one that is slain; Thou didst scatter Thine enemies with the arm of Thy strength.
Wamchoboza uRahabi njengomunye wababuleweyo; ngengalo yakho elamandla wazichitha izitha.
11 Thine are the heavens, Thine also the earth; the world and the fulness thereof, Thou hast founded them.
Ngawakho amazulu, ngowakho njalo lomhlaba; wawudala umhlaba lakho konke okukuwo.
12 The north and the south, Thou hast created them; Tabor and Hermon rejoice in Thy name.
Wayidala inyakatho kanye leningizimu; iThabhori leHemoni zihlabelela ibizo lakho ngentokozo.
13 Thine is an arm with might; strong is Thy hand, and exalted is Thy right hand.
Ingalo yakho igcwele amandla; isandla sakho siqinile, esokunene siphakeme.
14 Righteousness and justice are the foundation of Thy throne; mercy and truth go before Thee.
Ukulunga lokwahlulela kuhle yikho okuyinsika yesihlalo sakho sobukhosi; uthando lokuthembeka kuhamba phambili kwakho.
15 Happy is the people that know the joyful shout; they walk, O LORD, in the light of Thy countenance.
Babusisiwe labo asebekufundile ukukubabaza, abahamba ekukhanyeni kobukhona bakho, Oh Thixo.
16 In Thy name do they rejoice all the day; and through Thy righteousness are they exalted.
Bayathokoza ngebizo lakho ilanga lonke; bayagubhazela ngokulunga kwakho.
17 For Thou art the glory of their strength; and in Thy favour our horn is exalted.
Ngoba uyibukhosi babo lamandla abo, kuthi ngomusa wakho uphakamise uphondo lwethu.
18 For of the LORD is our shield; and the Holy One of Israel is our king.
Ngempela isihlangu sethu ngesikaThixo, iNkosi yethu Kuye oYedwa oNgcwele ka-Israyeli.
19 Then Thou spokest in vision to Thy godly ones, and saidst: 'I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people.
Endulo wakhuluma ngombono, ebantwini bakho abathembekileyo wathi: “Sengiwehlisele amandla phezu kweqhawe; sengiphakamise insizwa phakathi kwabantu.
20 I have found David My servant; with My holy oil have I anointed him;
Sengifumane uDavida inceku yami; ngamafutha ami angcwele sengimgcobile.
21 With whom My hand shall be established; Mine arm also shall strengthen him.
Isandla sami sizamsekela; ngempela ingalo yami izamqinisa.
22 The enemy shall not exact from him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him.
Akulasitha esizamncindezela ukuthi athele kuso; kakho umuntu omubi ozamcindezela.
23 And I will beat to pieces his adversaries before him, and smite them that hate him.
Ngizazichoboza izitha zakhe phambi kwakhe ngibalahlele phansi abalwa laye.
24 But My faithfulness and My mercy shall be with him; and through My name shall his horn be exalted.
Uthando lwami oluthembekileyo luzaba laye, ukuthi ngebizo lami luphakanyiswe uphondo lwakhe.
25 I will set his hand also on the sea, and his right hand on the rivers.
Ngizabeka isandla sakhe phezu kolwandle, isandla sakhe sokunene phezu kwemifula.
26 He shall call unto Me: Thou art my Father, my God, and the rock of my salvation.
Uzamemeza kimi athi, ‘UnguBaba, Nkulunkulu wami, iDwala elinguMsindisi wami.’
27 I also will appoint him first-born, the highest of the kings of the earth.
Njalo ngizamisa abe lizibulo lami, inkosi ephakeme ngaphezu kwawo wonke amakhosi omhlaba.
28 For ever will I keep for him My mercy, and My covenant shall stand fast with him.
Ngizalugcina uthando lwami kuye laphakade, lesivumelwano sami laye kasiyikuphela.
29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
Inzalo yakhe ngizayimisa nini lanini, lesihlalo sakhe sobukhosi kasiyikufa saphela.
30 If his children forsake My law, and walk not in Mine ordinances;
Aluba amadodana akhe edela umlayo wami angalandeli izimiso zami,
31 If they profane My statutes, and keep not My commandments;
nxa besephula izimemezelo zami behluleke ukugcina imiyalo yami,
32 Then will I visit their transgression with the rod, and their iniquity with strokes.
ngizajezisa isono sabo ngoswazi, lesiphambeko sabo ngokubatshaya;
33 But My mercy will I not break off from him, nor will I be false to My faithfulness.
kodwa kangiyikulususa uthando lwami kuye, njalo kangisoze ngiguqule ukuthembeka kwami.
34 My covenant will I not profane, nor alter that which is gone out of My lips.
Kangiyikusephula isivumelwano sami kumbe ngiguqule lokho okuphume ezindebeni zami.
35 Once have I sworn by My holiness: Surely I will not be false unto David;
Ngavele ngafunga kanye ngobungcwele bami angiyikuqamba amanga kuDavida,
36 His seed shall endure for ever, and his throne as the sun before Me.
ukuthi inzalo yakhe izaqhubeka laphakade lesihlalo sakhe sobukhosi sizakuma phambi kwami njengelanga;
37 It shall be established for ever as the moon; and be stedfast as the witness in sky.' (Selah)
sizakuma laphakade njengenyanga, ufakazi othembekileyo yisibhakabhaka.”
38 But Thou hast cast off and rejected, Thou hast been wroth with Thine anointed.
Kodwa usumalile, usumlahlile, ubumthukuthelela kakhulu ogcotshiweyo wakho.
39 Thou hast abhorred the covenant of Thy servant; Thou hast profaned his crown even to the ground.
Ususikhalele isivumelwano lenceku yakho wawubhuqela othulini umqhele wakhe.
40 Thou hast broken down all his fences; Thou hast brought his strongholds to ruin.
Usuyibhidlizile yonke imiduli yakhe, izinqaba zakhe wazenza amanxiwa.
41 All that pass by the way spoil him; he is become a taunt to his neighbours.
Bonke abedlula khona bamphangile; useyinhlekisa yabomakhelwane.
42 Thou hast exalted the right hand of his adversaries; Thou hast made all his enemies to rejoice.
Usuphakamisile isandla sokunene sezitha zakhe; usuwenze zonke izitha zakhe zathokoza.
43 Yea, Thou turnest back the edge of his sword, and hast not made him to stand in the battle.
Uyibuyisele emuva inkemba yakhe ebukhali awaze wamsekela empini.
44 Thou hast made his brightness to cease, and cast his throne down to the ground.
Usuyiqedile inkazimulo yakhe wadilizela phansi isihlalo sakhe sobukhosi.
45 The days of his youth hast Thou shortened; Thou hast covered him with shame. (Selah)
Uluqumile lwaba lufitshane usuku lobutsha bakhe; usumembese ingubo yehlazo.
46 How long, O LORD, wilt Thou hide Thyself for ever? How long shall Thy wrath burn like fire?
Koze kube nini, Oh Thixo? Uzazifihla kokuphela na? Koze kube nini ulaka lwakho luvutha njengomlilo?
47 O remember how short my time is; for what vanity hast Thou created all the children of men!
Khumbula ukwedlula masinyane kwempilo yami. Ngoba wabadalela ize nje abantu!
48 What man is he that liveth and shall not see death, that shall deliver his soul from the power of the grave? (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Ngumuntu bani ongaphila angaze abona ukufa, loba azisindise emandleni eliba na? (Sheol h7585)
49 Where are Thy former mercies, O Lord, which Thou didst swear unto David in Thy faithfulness?
Oh Thixo, lungaphi uthando lwakho lwakudala olukhulu, okwathi ngokuthembeka kwakho wafunga ngalo kuDavida?
50 Remember, Lord, the taunt of Thy servants; how I do bear in my bosom the taunt of so many peoples;
Khumbula, Thixo ukuthi inceku yakho iklolodelwa njani, ukuthi enhliziyweni yami ngithwele izigcono zezizwe,
51 Wherewith Thine enemies have taunted, O LORD, wherewith they have taunted the footsteps of Thine anointed.
izigcono izitha zakho eziklolode ngazo, Oh Thixo, okuthe ngazo zaklolodela ogcotshiweyo wakho kukho konke akwenzayo.
52 Blessed be the LORD for evermore. Amen, and Amen.
