Psalms 83
1 A Song, a Psalm of Asaph. O God, keep not Thou silence; hold not Thy peace, and be not still, O God.
Ein Lied. Ein Psalm Asafs.
2 For, lo, Thine enemies are in an uproar; and they that hate Thee have lifted up the head.
Elohim, schaue nicht ruhig zu, / Schweige doch nicht und raste nicht, Gott!
3 They hold crafty converse against Thy people, and take counsel against Thy treasured ones.
Denn sieh, deine Feinde toben, / Und deine Hasser erheben das Haupt.
4 They have said: 'Come, and let us cut them off from being a nation; that the name of Israel may be no more in remembrance.'
Wider dein Volk ersinnen sie listigen Anschlag, / Beraten sich gegen die, die du bewahrst.
5 For they have consulted together with one consent; against Thee do they make a covenant;
"Auf", sagen sie, "laßt uns als Volk sie vernichten, / Daß Israels Name für immer verschwinde!"
6 The tents of Edom and the Ishmaelites; Moab, and the Hagrites;
Denn einmütig haben sie sich beraten, / Wider dich einen Bund geschlossen:
7 Gebal, and Ammon, and Amalek; Philistia with the inhabitants of Tyre;
Edoms Zelte, die Ismaeliter, / Moab und die Hagriter,
8 Assyria also is joined with them; they have been an arm to the children of Lot. (Selah)
Gebâl und Ammon und Amalek, / Die Philister samt denen zu Tyrus.
9 Do Thou unto them as unto Midian; as to Sisera, as to Jabin, at the brook Kishon;
Auch Assur hat sich zu ihnen gesellt, / Es leiht seinen Arm den Söhnen Lots. (Sela)
10 Who were destroyed at En-dor; they became as dung for the earth.
Tu ihnen so wie Midian, / Wie Sisera, wie Jabin am Bache Kison!
11 Make their nobles like Oreb and Zeeb, and like Zebah and Zalmunna all their princes;
Sie wurden bei Endor vertilgt, / Wurden Dünger auf Ackerland.
12 Who said: 'Let us take to ourselves in possession the habitations of God.'
Ihre Edlen mache wie Oreb und Seeb, / wie Sébach und Zalmúnna all ihre Fürsten,
13 O my God, make them like the whirling dust; as stubble before the wind.
Weil sie gesprochen: "Wir wollen für uns / Einnehmen die Auen Gottes."
14 As the fire that burneth the forest, and as the flame that setteth the mountains ablaze;
Mein Gott, mache sie wie Laub, / Wie Stoppeln, die der Wind wegtreibt,
15 So pursue them with Thy tempest, and affright them with Thy storm.
Wie Feuer, das einen Wald verbrennt, / Wie die Flamme, die Berge entzündet!
16 Fill their faces with shame; that they may seek Thy name, O LORD.
Verfolge sie so mit deinem Sturm, / Und mit deiner Windsbraut schrecke sie!
17 Let them be ashamed and affrighted for ever; yea, let them be abashed and perish;
Mach ihr Antlitz voll Schmach, / Damit sie nach deinem Namen fragen, o Jahwe!
18 That they may know that it is Thou alone whose name is the LORD, the Most High over all the earth.
Sie sollen zuschanden werden, erschrecken für immer, / Erröten vor Scham und vergehen! Dann laß sie erkennen, daß du, des Name Jahwe heißt, / Allein der Höchste bist auf der ganzen Erde.
