Psalms 81
1 For the Leader; upon the Gittith. A Psalm of Asaph. Sing aloud unto God our strength; shout unto the God of Jacob.
Al maestro del coro. Su «I torchi...». Di Asaf. Esultate in Dio, nostra forza, acclamate al Dio di Giacobbe.
2 Take up the melody, and sound the timbrel, the sweet harp with the psaltery.
Intonate il canto e suonate il timpano, la cetra melodiosa con l'arpa.
3 Blow the horn at the new moon, at the full moon for our feast-day.
Suonate la tromba nel plenilunio, nostro giorno di festa.
4 For it is a statute for Israel, an ordinance of the God of Jacob.
Questa è una legge per Israele, un decreto del Dio di Giacobbe.
5 He appointed it in Joseph for a testimony, when He went forth against the land of Egypt. The speech of one that I knew not did I hear:
Lo ha dato come testimonianza a Giuseppe, quando usciva dal paese d'Egitto. Un linguaggio mai inteso io sento:
6 'I removed his shoulder from the burden; His hands were freed from the basket.
«Ho liberato dal peso la sua spalla, le sue mani hanno deposto la cesta.
7 Thou didst call in trouble, and I rescued thee; I answered thee in the secret place of thunder; I proved thee at the waters of Meribah. (Selah)
Hai gridato a me nell'angoscia e io ti ho liberato, avvolto nella nube ti ho dato risposta, ti ho messo alla prova alle acque di Meriba.
8 Hear, O My people, and I will admonish thee: O Israel, if thou wouldest hearken unto Me!
Ascolta, popolo mio, ti voglio ammonire; Israele, se tu mi ascoltassi!
9 There shall no strange god be in thee; neither shalt thou worship any foreign god.
Non ci sia in mezzo a te un altro dio e non prostrarti a un dio straniero.
10 I am the LORD thy God, who brought thee up out of the land of Egypt; open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it.
Sono io il Signore tuo Dio, che ti ho fatto uscire dal paese d'Egitto; apri la tua bocca, la voglio riempire.
11 But My people hearkened not to My voice; and Israel would none of Me.
Ma il mio popolo non ha ascoltato la mia voce, Israele non mi ha obbedito.
12 So I let them go after the stubbornness of their heart, that they might walk in their own counsels.
L'ho abbandonato alla durezza del suo cuore, che seguisse il proprio consiglio.
13 Oh that My people would hearken unto Me, that Israel would walk in My ways!
Se il mio popolo mi ascoltasse, se Israele camminasse per le mie vie!
14 I would soon subdue their enemies, and turn My hand against their adversaries.
Subito piegherei i suoi nemici e contro i suoi avversari porterei la mia mano.
15 The haters of the LORD should dwindle away before Him; and their punishment should endure for ever.
I nemici del Signore gli sarebbero sottomessi e la loro sorte sarebbe segnata per sempre;
16 They should also be fed with the fat of wheat; and with honey out of the rock would I satisfy thee.'
li nutrirei con fiore di frumento, li sazierei con miele di roccia».
