Psalms 8

1 For the Leader; upon the Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how glorious is Thy name in all the earth! whose majesty is rehearsed above the heavens.

Untuk pemimpin kor. Menurut lagu Gitit. Mazmur Daud. Ya TUHAN, Allah kami, kuasa-Mu termasyhur di seluruh bumi! Keagungan-Mu yang mengatasi langit

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou founded strength, because of Thine adversaries; that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

dinyanyikan oleh anak-anak dan bayi. Pemerintahan-Mu teguh tak tergoyahkan untuk membungkamkan musuh dan lawan.

3 When I behold Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast established;

Bila kupandang langit yang Kauciptakan, bulan dan bintang-bintang yang Kaupasang,

4 What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that Thou thinkest of him?

apakah manusia itu, sehingga Kauingat dia, siapakah dia, sehingga Kaupelihara?

5 Yet Thou hast made him but little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Tetapi Kauangkat dia hampir setara dengan Allah, kaumahkotai dia dengan keagungan dan kehormatan.

6 Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under His feet:

Kauberi dia kuasa atas alam raya, seluruh ciptaan-Mu Kautundukkan kepadanya:

7 Sheep and oxen, all of them, yea, and the beasts of the field;

domba, sapi dan ternak semuanya, juga binatang di padang belantara;

8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea; whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

burung-burung dan ikan-ikan, semua makhluk di dalam lautan.

9 O LORD, our Lord, how glorious is Thy name in all the earth!

Ya TUHAN, Tuhan kami, keagungan-Mu termasyhur di seluruh bumi!
