Psalms 8

1 For the Leader; upon the Gittith. A Psalm of David. O LORD, our Lord, how glorious is Thy name in all the earth! whose majesty is rehearsed above the heavens.

Dem Sangmeister auf der Githith. Ein Psalm Davids. Jehovah, unser Herr, wie herrlich ist Dein Name auf der ganzen Erde, Der Du Deine Majestät hast gegeben über die Himmel.

2 Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings hast Thou founded strength, because of Thine adversaries; that Thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.

Aus dem Munde der Kindlein und der Säuglinge hast Du Dir Stärke gegründet, um Deiner Dränger willen, daß der Feind und der Rachgierige zu Ende komme!

3 When I behold Thy heavens, the work of Thy fingers, the moon and the stars, which Thou hast established;

Wenn Deine Himmel ich sehe, Deiner Finger Werk, Mond und Gestirne, die Du bereitet hast:

4 What is man, that Thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that Thou thinkest of him?

Was ist der Mensch, daß seiner Du gedenkst? Und des Menschen Sohn, daß Du ihn heimsuchst?

5 Yet Thou hast made him but little lower than the angels, and hast crowned him with glory and honour.

Ein wenig lässest Du ihm zu einem Engel mangeln und krönest ihn mit Herrlichkeit und Ehre.

6 Thou hast made him to have dominion over the works of Thy hands; Thou hast put all things under His feet:

Du machst ihn zum Herrscher über Deiner Hände Werk, alles hast Du unter seine Füße gelegt.

7 Sheep and oxen, all of them, yea, and the beasts of the field;

Kleinvieh und Rinder, alle von ihnen, und auch das Vieh des Feldes.

8 The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea; whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.

Den Vogel der Himmel und des Meeres Fische, was der Meere Pfade durchzieht.

9 O LORD, our Lord, how glorious is Thy name in all the earth!

Jehovah, unser Herr, wie herrlich ist Dein Name auf der ganzen Erde.
