< Psalms 78 >
1 Maschil of Asaph. Give ear, O my people, to my teaching; incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
Asaf dwom. Me nkurɔfo, muntie me nkyerɛkyerɛ; monyɛ aso mma mʼanom nsɛm.
2 I will open my mouth with a parable; I will utter dark sayings concerning days of old;
Mɛkasa wɔ abebu mu, mɛka ahintasɛm, teteete nneɛma no,
3 That which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us,
nneɛma a yɛate na yɛahu; nneɛma a yɛn agyanom aka ho asɛm akyerɛ yɛn.
4 We will not hide from their children, telling to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and His strength, and His wondrous works that He hath done.
Yɛremfa nkame wɔn mma; yɛbɛka akyerɛ nkyirimma Awurade nneyɛe a ɛfata nkamfo no, ne tumi ne anwonwade a wayɛ no.
5 For He established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which He commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children;
Ɔyɛɛ ahyɛde maa Yakob na ɔyɛɛ mmara wɔ Israel, nea ɔhyɛɛ yɛn nenanom sɛ wɔnkyerɛ wɔn mma,
6 That the generation to come might know them, even the children that should be born; who should arise and tell them to their children,
sɛnea ɛbɛyɛ a nkyirimma besua, mpo mmofra a wonnya nwoo wɔn, na wɔn nso akyerɛkyerɛ wɔn mma.
7 That they might put their confidence in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep His commandments;
Afei wɔde wɔn ho bɛto Onyankopɔn so, na wɔn werɛ remfi ne nneyɛe, na wobedi nʼahyɛde so.
8 And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
Wɔrenyɛ sɛ wɔn nenanom, a na wɔyɛ asoɔdenfo ne atuatewfo, wɔn a wonni Onyankopɔn nokware wɔ wɔn koma mu na woyɛ honhom mu atorofo ma no no.
9 The children of Ephraim were as archers handling the bow, that turned back in the day of battle.
Ɛwɔ mu sɛ na Efraim mmarima kurakura agyan, nanso ɔko da no woguanee;
10 They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in His law;
Wɔanni Onyankopɔn apam no so, wɔampɛ sɛ wodi ne mmara no so.
11 And they forgot His doings, and His wondrous works that He had shown them.
Wɔn werɛ fii nea wayɛ, anwonwade a wayɛ akyerɛ wɔn no.
12 Marvellous things did He in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
Ɔyɛɛ anwonwade wɔ wɔn nenanom anim, wɔ Soan mantam a ɛwɔ Misraim asase so.
13 He cleaved the sea, and caused them to pass through; and He made the waters to stand as a heap.
Ɔkyɛɛ po mu na ɔde wɔn faa mu. Ɔmaa nsu no gyinaa sɛ afasu.
14 By day also He led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
Ɔde omununkum dii wɔn anim awia na ɔde ogyatɛn dii wɔn anim anadwo nyinaa.
15 He cleaved rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink abundantly as out of the great deep.
Ɔpaee ɔbotan mu wɔ sare so, na ɔmaa wɔn nsu a ɛdɔɔso sɛ po;
16 He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
Ɔmaa asuti fii abotan mu na ɔmaa nsu sen sɛ nsubɔnten.
17 Yet went they on still to sin against Him, to rebel against the Most High in the desert.
Nanso wɔkɔɔ so yɛɛ bɔne tiaa no, wɔsɔre tiaa Ɔsorosoroni no wɔ sare no so.
18 And they tried God in their heart by asking food for their craving.
Wɔhyɛɛ da kaa aduan a wɔpɛ, de sɔɔ Onyankopɔn hwɛe.
19 Yea, they spoke against God; they said: 'Can God prepare a table in the wilderness?
Wɔkasa tiaa Onyankopɔn se, “Onyankopɔn betumi ato pon wɔ sare so ana?
20 Behold, He smote the rock, that waters gushed out, and streams overflowed; can He give bread also? or will He provide flesh for His people?'
Ɔde ade bɔɔ ɔbotan mu no, nsu tue fii mu, na nsuwa sen buu so. Na obetumi ama yɛn aduan nso? Obetumi ama ne nkurɔfo nam ana?”
21 Therefore the LORD heard, and was wroth; and a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also went up against Israel;
Bere a Awurade tee nea wɔreka no, ne bo fuw yiye; ne gya beguu Yakob so, na nʼabufuwhyew sɔre tiaa Israel,
22 Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in His salvation.
efisɛ na wonni Onyankopɔn mu gyidi anaasɛ ne nkwagye mu ahotoso.
23 And He commanded the skies above, and opened the doors of heaven;
Nanso ɔkasa kyerɛɛ ɔsoro wɔ ɔhyɛ so; na obuee ɔsorosoro apon.
24 And He caused manna to rain upon them for food, and gave them of the corn of heaven.
Ɔtɔɔ mana guu fam maa nnipa no sɛ wunni, ɔmaa wɔn ɔsoro aduan.
25 Man did eat the bread of the mighty; He sent them provisions to the full.
Nnipa dii abɔfo aduan; ɔmaa wɔn aduan a wobetumi adi nyinaa.
26 He caused the east wind to set forth in heaven; and by His power He brought on the south wind.
Ogyaa apuei mframa fi ɔsoro, na ofi ne tumi mu bɔɔ atɔe mframa.
27 He caused flesh also to rain upon them as the dust, and winged fowl as the sand of the seas;
Ɔtɔɔ nam sɛ mfutuma guu wɔn so, nnomaa a wotu bebree sɛ mpoano nwea.
28 And He let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their dwellings.
Ɔma wɔbaa fam kɔɔ wɔn atenae, ne wɔn ntamadan ho nyinaa.
29 So they did eat, and were well filled; and He gave them that which they craved.
Wodidi maa aduan no boroo wɔn so efisɛ ɔmaa wɔn nea wɔhwehwɛ.
30 They were not estranged from their craving, their food was yet in their mouths,
Nanso ansa na wobefi aduan a wɔhwehwɛ no ho, bere a ɛhyehyɛ wɔn anom mpo no,
31 When the anger of God went up against them, and slew of the lustieth among them, and smote down the young men of Israel.
Onyankopɔn abufuw sɔree wɔn so; okum ahoɔdenfo a wɔwɔ wɔn mu twitwaa Israel mmerante gui.
32 For all this they sinned still, and believed not in His wondrous works.
Eyinom nyinaa akyi, wɔkɔɔ so yɛɛ bɔne; nʼanwonwade akyi no, wɔannye anni.
33 Therefore He ended their days as a breath, and their years in terror.
Enti otwaa wɔn nna so te sɛ ahuru yɛɛ wɔn mfe awiei huhuuhu.
34 When He slew them, then they would inquire after Him, and turn back and seek God earnestly.
Bere biara a Onyankopɔn bekum wɔn no, wɔhwehwɛ no na wɔpere wɔn ho san ba ne nkyɛn.
35 And they remembered that God was their Rock, and the Most High God their redeemer.
Wɔkaee sɛ Onyankopɔn yɛ wɔn botan, sɛ Ɔsorosoro Nyankopɔn no yɛ wɔn Gyefo.
36 But they beguiled Him with their mouth, and lied unto Him with their tongue.
Nanso wɔde wɔn ano bɛdaadaa no, na wɔde wɔn tɛkrɛma atwa atoro akyerɛ no;
37 For their heart was not stedfast with Him, neither were they faithful in His covenant.
wɔn koma nni no nokware, na wonni nʼapam no so.
38 But He, being full of compassion, forgiveth iniquity, and destroyeth not; yea, many a time doth He turn His anger away, and doth not stir up all His wrath.
Nanso na ɔyɛ ahummɔbɔ; ɔde wɔn amumɔyɛ kyɛɛ wɔn a wansɛe wɔn. Mpɛn pii, ɔtwentwɛn nʼabufuw so na wanhwie nʼabufuwhyew nyinaa.
39 So He remembered that they were but flesh, a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
Ɔkaee sɛ wɔyɛ ɔhonam ara kwa, mframa bi a ɛbɔ twa mu na ɛnsan nʼakyi.
40 How oft did they rebel against Him in the wilderness, and grieve Him in the desert!
Mpɛn ahe na wɔansɔre antia no wɔ sare no so hɔ, na mpɛn ahe na wɔamma ne werɛ anhow wɔ asase wosee no so!
41 And still again they tried God, and set bounds to the Holy One of Israel.
Wɔsɔɔ Onyankopɔn hwɛɛ bere biara; na woyii Israel Ɔkronkronni no abufuw.
42 They remembered not His hand, nor the day when He redeemed them from the adversary.
Wɔn werɛ fii ne tumi no, da a ogyee wɔn fii wɔn nhyɛsofo nsam no,
43 How He set His signs in Egypt, and His wonders in the field of Zoan;
da a ɔyɛɛ nsɛnkyerɛnne nwonwaso wɔ Misraim no ne nʼanwonwade wɔ Soan mantam mu no.
44 And turned their rivers into blood, so that they could not drink their streams.
Ɔmaa wɔn nsubɔnten dan mogya; wɔantumi annom wɔn nsuten mu nsu.
45 He sent among them swarms of flies, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
Ɔmaa nwansenadɔm baa wɔn so bɛhaw wɔn na mpɔtorɔ nso bɛsɛee wɔn asase.
46 He gave also their increase unto the caterpillar, and their labour unto the locust.
Ɔmaa tɛwtɛw bedii wɔn mfuw so aduan na ɔde wɔn nnɔbae nso maa mmoadabi.
47 He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycamore-trees with frost.
Ɔde mparuwbo sɛee wɔn bobe na ɔde sukyerɛmma sɛee wɔn ankye nnua.
48 He gave over their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to fiery bolts.
Ɔde sukyerɛmma kum wɔn anantwi ɔde anyinam kum wɔn nyɛmmoa.
49 He sent forth upon them the fierceness of His anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, a sending of messengers of evil.
Ohwiee nʼabufuwhyew guu wɔn so, abufuw, anibere ne ɔtan; abɔfo asɛefo kuw no.
50 He levelled a path for His anger; He spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
Ɔbɔɔ kwan maa nʼabufuw; na wamfa wɔn nkwa ankyɛ wɔn, mmom, ɔde wɔn maa ɔyaredɔm.
51 And smote all the first-born in Egypt, the first-fruits of their strength in the tents of Ham;
Okunkum Misraimfo mmakan nyinaa, Ham ntamadan mu nnipa mu abakan.
52 But He made His own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
Nanso oyii ne nkurɔfo fii mu sɛ nguankuw; odii wɔn anim sɛ nguan wɔ sare no so.
53 And He led them safely, and they feared not; but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
Odii wɔn anim dwoodwoo, enti wɔansuro; nanso wɔn atamfo de, po asorɔkye bu faa wɔn so.
54 And He brought them to His holy border, to the mountain, which His right hand had gotten.
Sɛɛ na ɔyɛ de wɔn baa nʼasase kronkron no ahye so, bepɔw asase a ɔde ne nsa nifa gyee no.
55 He drove out the nations also before them, and allotted them for an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
Ɔpam amanaman a wɔwɔ wɔn anim no na ɔkyekyɛɛ wɔn nsase no mu maa wɔn sɛ wɔn agyapade; ɔbɔɔ Israel mmusuakuw no atenase wɔ wɔn afi mu.
56 Yet they tried and provoked God, the Most High, and kept not His testimonies;
Nanso wɔsɔɔ Onyankopɔn hwɛe, na wɔsɔre tiaa Ɔsorosoroni no; na wɔanni ne mmara so.
57 But turned back, and dealt treacherously like their fathers; they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
Wɔyɛɛ sɛ wɔn agyanom, wɔanni nokware na wɔannya gyidi, ahotoso nni wɔn mu na wɔte sɛ agyan a asɛe.
58 For they provoked Him with their high places, and moved Him to jealousy with their graven images.
Wɔde wɔn sorɔnsorɔmmea hyɛɛ no abufuw na wɔn ahoni maa ne ninkutwe mu yɛɛ den.
59 God heard, and was wroth, and He greatly abhorred Israel;
Onyankopɔn tee wɔn nka no, ne bo fuwii; na ɔpoo Israel korakora.
60 And He forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which He had made to dwell among men;
Ogyaw nʼatenae a ɛwɔ Silo no, ntamadan a wasi wɔ nnipa mu no.
61 And delivered His strength into captivity, and His glory into the adversary's hand.
Ɔde Apam Adaka a ɛyɛ ne tumi no kɔɔ nnommum mu, nʼanuonyam kɔɔ atamfo nsam.
62 He gave His people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with His inheritance.
Ɔde ne nkurɔfo maa afoa; ne bo fuw nʼagyapade yiye.
63 Fire devoured their young men; and their virgins had no marriage-song.
Ogya hyew wɔn mmerante kum wɔn, na wɔn mmabaa annya ayeforohyia dwom anto;
64 Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.
Wɔn asɔfo wuwuu afoa ano, na wɔn akunafo antumi ansu.
65 Then the Lord awaked as one asleep, like a mighty man recovering from wine.
Afei Awurade sɔree sɛnea ofi nna mu no, sɛnea ɔbarima a wabow nsa nyan fi nnahɔɔ mu no.
66 And He smote His adversaries backward; He put upon them a perpetual reproach.
Ɔbobɔɔ nʼatamfo ma woguan kɔɔ wɔn akyi; ɔhyɛɛ wɔn aniwu afebɔɔ.
67 Moreover He abhorred the tent of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim;
Afei ɔpoo Yosef ntamadan no, na wamfa Efraim abusuakuw no nso;
68 But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which He loved.
Na mmom, ɔfaa Yuda abusuakuw no, Bepɔw Sion a ɔdɔ no no.
69 And He built His sanctuary like the heights, like the earth which He hath founded for ever.
Osii ne kronkronbea te sɛ sorɔnsorɔmmea, te sɛ asase a etim hɔ daa.
70 He chose David also His servant, and took him from the sheepfolds;
Oyii ne somfo Dawid, ɔfrɛɛ no fii nguannan mu;
71 From following the ewes that give suck He brought him, to be shepherd over Jacob His people, and Israel His inheritance.
fii nguan akyi na ɔde no bae se ɔmmɛyɛ oguanhwɛfo mma ne nkurɔfo Yakob, mma Israel a wɔyɛ nʼagyapade.
72 So he shepherded them according to the integrity of his heart; and lead them by the skilfulness of his hands.
Na Dawid de koma pa hwɛɛ wɔn so na ɔde ne nimdeɛ dii wɔn anim.
