Psalms 76
1 For the Leader; with string-music. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song. In Judah is God known; His name is great in Israel.
[Dem Vorsänger, mit Saitenspiel. Ein Psalm von Asaph, ein Lied.] Bekannt ist Gott in Juda, in Israel groß sein Name.
2 In Salem also is set His tabernacle, and His dwelling-place in Zion.
Und in Salem ist [Eig. ward] seine Hütte, und seine Wohnung in Zion.
3 There He broke the fiery shafts of the bow; the shield, and the sword, and the battle. (Selah)
Dort zerbrach er des Bogens Blitze, Schild und Schwert und Krieg. (Sela)
4 Glorious art Thou and excellent, coming down from the mountains of prey.
Glanzvoller bist du, herrlicher als die Berge des Raubes. [O. Glanzvoll bist du, herrlich von den Bergen des Raubes her]
5 The stout-hearted are bereft of sense, they sleep their sleep; and none of the men of might have found their hands.
Zur Beute sind geworden die Starkherzigen, sie schlafen ihren Schlaf; und keiner der tapferen Männer fand seine Hände.
6 At Thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, they are cast into a dead sleep, the riders also and the horses.
Vor deinem Schelten, Gott Jakobs, sind in tiefen Schlaf gesunken sowohl Wagen als Roß.
7 Thou, even Thou, art terrible; and who may stand in Thy sight when once Thou art angry?
Du, du bist furchtbar, und wer kann vor dir bestehen, sobald du erzürnst!
8 Thou didst cause sentence to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
Du ließest Gericht hören [d. h. kündigtest Gericht an] von den Himmeln her; die Erde fürchtete sich und ward stille.
9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the humble of the earth. (Selah)
Als Gott aufstand zum Gericht, um zu retten alle Sanftmütigen des Landes. [O. der Erde] (Sela)
10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise Thee; the residue of wrath shalt Thou gird upon Thee.
Denn der Grimm des Menschen wird dich preisen; mit dem Rest des Grimmes wirst du dich gürten.
11 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God; let all that are round about Him bring presents unto Him that is to be feared;
Tut und bezahlet Gelübde Jehova, eurem Gott; mögen alle, die rings um ihn her sind, Geschenke bringen dem Furchtbaren!
12 He minisheth the spirit of princes; He is terrible to the kings of the earth.
Er wird abmähen den Geist [O. das Schnauben] der Fürsten, er ist furchtbar den Königen der Erde.
