Psalms 76
1 For the Leader; with string-music. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song. In Judah is God known; His name is great in Israel.
Au maître-chantre. — Avec instruments à cordes. — Psaume d'Asaph — Cantique. Dieu s'est fait connaître en Juda; Son nom est grand en Israël.
2 In Salem also is set His tabernacle, and His dwelling-place in Zion.
Son tabernacle est à Salem, Et sa résidence à Sion.
3 There He broke the fiery shafts of the bow; the shield, and the sword, and the battle. (Selah)
Là il a brisé les flèches rapides comme l'éclair. Le bouclier, le glaive et les armes de guerre. (Pause)
4 Glorious art Thou and excellent, coming down from the mountains of prey.
O Tout-Puissant, tu surpasses en majesté Les conquérants les plus glorieux!
5 The stout-hearted are bereft of sense, they sleep their sleep; and none of the men of might have found their hands.
Ils ont été dépouillés, les hommes au coeur fort; Et tous ces hommes vaillants n'ont plus retrouvé La vigueur de leurs bras.
6 At Thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, they are cast into a dead sleep, the riders also and the horses.
A ta seule menace, ô Dieu de Jacob, Conducteurs de chars et coursiers ont été frappés de torpeur.
7 Thou, even Thou, art terrible; and who may stand in Thy sight when once Thou art angry?
Mais toi, tu es redoutable! Qui peut tenir devant toi, dès que ta colère éclate?
8 Thou didst cause sentence to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,
Du haut des cieux, tu fais entendre; La terre est effrayée, et elle se tait,
9 When God arose to judgment, to save all the humble of the earth. (Selah)
Quand tu te lèves, ô Dieu, pour juger. Pour délivrer tous les opprimés de la terre. (Pause)
10 Surely the wrath of man shall praise Thee; the residue of wrath shalt Thou gird upon Thee.
La fureur même de l'homme tourne à ta louange, Et ton propre courroux est le glaive dont tu restes armé.
11 Vow, and pay unto the LORD your God; let all that are round about Him bring presents unto Him that is to be feared;
Faites des voeux, acquittez-les envers l'Éternel, votre Dieu; Que tous les peuples d'alentour viennent offrir Des présents à ce Dieu Redoutable!
12 He minisheth the spirit of princes; He is terrible to the kings of the earth.
Dieu abat l'orgueil des princes; Il est redouté par les rois de la terre.
