< Psalms 75 >
1 For the Leader; Al-tashheth. A Psalm of Asaph, a Song. We give thanks unto Thee, O God, we give thanks, and Thy name is near; men tell of Thy wondrous works.
[For the Chief Musician. To the tune of "Do Not Destroy." A Psalm by Asaph. A song.] We give thanks to you, God. We give thanks, for your Name is near. Men tell about your wondrous works.
2 'When I take the appointed time, I Myself will judge with equity.
When I choose the appointed time, I will judge blamelessly.
3 When the earth and all the inhabitants thereof are dissolved, I Myself establish the pillars of it.' (Selah)
The earth and all its inhabitants quake. I firmly hold its pillars. (Selah)
4 I say unto the arrogant: 'Deal not arrogantly'; and to the wicked: 'Lift not up the horn.'
I said to the arrogant, "Do not boast." I said to the wicked, "Do not lift up the horn.
5 Lift not up your horn on high; speak not insolence with a haughty neck.
Do not lift up your horn on high. Do not speak with a stiff neck."
6 For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor yet from the wilderness, cometh lifting up.
For neither from the east, nor from the west, nor yet from the south, comes exaltation.
7 For God is judge; He putteth down one, and lifteth up another.
But God is the judge. He puts down one, and lifts up another.
8 For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, with foaming wine, full of mixture, and He poureth out of the same; surely the dregs thereof, all the wicked of the earth shall drain them, and drink them.
For in the hand of the LORD there is a cup, full of foaming wine mixed with spices. He pours it out. Indeed the wicked of the earth drink and drink it to its very dregs.
9 But as for me, I will declare for ever, I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
But I will declare this forever: I will sing praises to the God of Jacob.
10 All the horns of the wicked also will I cut off; but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.
I will cut off all the horns of the wicked, but the horns of the righteous shall be lifted up.
