Psalms 73
1 BOOK III A Psalm of Asaph. Surely God is good to Israel, even to such as are pure in heart.
Salmo de Asafe: Sim, certamente Deus [é] bom para Israel, para os limpos de coração.
2 But as for me, my feet were almost gone; my steps had well nigh slipped.
Eu porém, quase que meus pés se desviaram; quase nada [faltou] para meus passos escorregarem.
3 For I was envious at the arrogant, when I saw the prosperity of the wicked.
Porque eu tinha inveja dos arrogantes, quando via a prosperidade dos perversos.
4 For there are no pangs at their death, and their body is sound.
Porque não há problemas para eles até sua morte, e o vigor deles continua firme.
5 In the trouble of man they are not; neither are they plagued like men.
Não são tão oprimidos como o homem comum, nem são afligidos como os outros homens;
6 Therefore pride is as a chain about their neck; violence covereth them as a garment.
Por isso eles são rodeados de arrogância como um colar; estão cobertos de violência como [se fosse] um vestido.
7 Their eyes stand forth from fatness; they are gone beyond the imaginations of their heart.
Seus olhos incham de gordura; são excessivos os desejos do coração deles.
8 They scoff, and in wickedness utter oppression; they speak as if there were none on high.
Eles são escarnecedores e oprimem falando mal e falando arrogantemente.
9 They have set their mouth against the heavens, and their tongue walketh through the earth.
Elevam suas bocas ao céu, e suas línguas andam na terra.
10 Therefore His people return hither; and waters of fullness are drained out by them.
Por isso seu povo volta para cá, e as águas lhes são espremidas por completo.
11 And they say: 'How doth God know? And is there knowledge in the Most High?'
E dizem: Como Deus saberia? Será que o Altíssimo tem conhecimento [disto]?
12 Behold, such are the wicked; and they that are always at ease increase riches.
Eis que estes [são] perversos, sempre estão confortáveis e aumentam seus bens.
13 Surely in vain have I cleansed my heart, and washed my hands in innocency;
[Cheguei a pensar]: Certamente purifiquei meu coração e lavei minhas mãos na inocência inutilmente,
14 For all the day have I been plagued, and my chastisement came every morning.
Porque sou afligido o dia todo, e castigado toda manhã.
15 If I had said: 'I will speak thus', behold, I had been faithless to the generation of Thy children.
Se eu tivesse dito [isto], eu falaria dessa maneira; eis que teria decepcionado a geração de teus filhos.
16 And when I pondered how I might know this, it was wearisome in mine eyes;
Quando tentei entender, isto me pareceu trabalhoso.
17 Until I entered into the sanctuary of God, and considered their end.
Até que entrei nos santuários de Deus, [e] entendi o fim de tais pessoas.
18 Surely Thou settest them in slippery places; Thou hurlest them down to utter ruin.
Certamente tu os fazes escorregarem, [e] os lança em assolações.
19 How are they become a desolation in a moment! They are wholly consumed by terrors.
Como eles foram assolados tão repentinamente! Eles se acabaram, [e] se consumiram de medo.
20 As a dream when one awaketh, so, O Lord, when Thou arousest Thyself, Thou wilt despise their semblance.
Como o sonho depois de acordar, ó Senhor, quando tu acordares desprezarás a aparência deles;
21 For my heart was in a ferment, and I was pricked in my reins.
Porque meu coração tem se amargurado, e meus rins têm sentido dolorosas picadas.
22 But I was brutish, and ignorant; I was as a beast before Thee.
Então me comportei como tolo, e nada sabia; tornei-me como um animal para contigo.
23 Nevertheless I am continually with Thee; Thou holdest my right hand.
Porém [agora estarei] continuamente contigo; tu tens segurado minha mão direita.
24 Thou wilt guide me with Thy counsel, and afterward receive me with glory.
Tu me guiarás com teu conselho, e depois me receberás [em] glória.
25 Whom have I in heaven but Thee? And beside Thee I desire none upon earth.
A quem tenho no céu [além de ti]? E [quando estou] contigo, nada há na terra que eu deseje.
26 My flesh and my heart faileth; but God is the rock of my heart and my portion for ever.
Minha carne e meu coração desfalecem; [porém] Deus [será] a rocha do meu coração e minha porção para sempre.
27 For, lo, they that go far from Thee shall perish; Thou dost destroy all them that go astray from Thee.
Porque eis que os que ficaram longe de ti perecerão; tu destróis todo infiel a ti.
28 But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, that I may tell of all Thy works.
Mas [quanto] a mim, bom me é me aproximar de Deus; ponho minha confiança no Senhor DEUS, para que eu conte todas as tuas obras.
