< Psalms 64 >
1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David. Hear my voice, O God, in my complaint; preserve my life from the terror of the enemy.
To the Chief Musician. A Melody of David. Hear, O God, my voice when I complain, From dread peril by the foe, wilt thou guard my life.
2 Hide me from the council of evil-doers; from the tumult of the workers of iniquity;
Wilt thou hide me, From the conclave of evil-doers, From the crowd of workers of iniquity.
3 Who have whet their tongue like a sword, and have aimed their arrow, a poisoned word;
Who have sharpened, like a sword, their tongue, Have made ready their arrow—a bitter word;
4 That they may shoot in secret places at the blameless; suddenly do they shoot at him, and fear not.
To shoot, in secret places, at the blameless one, Suddenly they shoot at him, and fear not.
5 They encourage one another in an evil matter; they converse of laying snares secretly; they ask, who would see them.
They strengthen for them a wicked word, They talk of hiding snares, They have said, Who can see them?
6 They search out iniquities, they have accomplished a diligent search; even in the inward thought of every one, and the deep heart.
They devise perverse things, They have completed the device well devised, Both the intent of each one, and the mind, are unsearchable.
7 But God doth shoot at them with an arrow suddenly; thence are their wounds.
Once let God have shot at them an arrow, Suddenly have appeared their own wounds!
8 So they make their own tongue a stumbling unto themselves; all that see them shake the head.
When they were to have ruined another, their tongue smote themselves, All who observe them take flight.
9 And all men fear; and they declare the work of God, and understand His doing.
Therefore have all men feared, —And have told the doing of God, And, his work, have considered.
10 The righteous shall be glad in the LORD, and shall take refuge in Him; and all the upright in heart shall glory.
The righteous man shall rejoice in Yahweh, and seek refuge in him, Then shall glory—all who are upright in heart.
