Psalms 61

1 For the Leader; with string-music. A Psalm of David. Hear my cry, O God; attend unto my prayer.

Au chef des chantres. Sur les instruments à cordes. De David. Ecoute, ô Dieu, ma supplication, sois attentif à ma prière.

2 From the end of the earth will I call unto Thee, when my heart fainteth; lead me to a rock that is too high for me.

De l’extrémité du pays je crie vers toi, alors que mon cœur tombe en défaillance: puisses-tu me mener sur un rocher qui domine de haut!

3 For Thou hast been a refuge for me, a tower of strength in the face of the enemy.

Car tu es pour moi un refuge, une tour fortifiée protégeant contre l’ennemi.

4 I will dwell in Thy Tent for ever; I will take refuge in the covert of Thy wings. (Selah)

Je voudrais séjourner à jamais sous ta tente, me mettre à couvert à l’abri de tes ailes. (Sélah)

5 For Thou, O God, hast heard my vows; Thou hast granted the heritage of those that fear Thy name.

Certes toi, ô Dieu, tu accueilles favorablement mes vœux; tu m’accordes les biens réservés à ceux qui vénèrent ton nom.

6 Mayest Thou add days unto the king's days! May his years be as many generations!

Daigne ajouter de nouveaux jours aux jours du Roi! que ses années se prolongent d’âge en âge!

7 May he be enthroned before God for ever! Appoint mercy and truth, that they may preserve him.

Qu’il trône éternellement devant Dieu, que la grâce et la bienveillance le protègent!

8 So will I sing praise unto Thy name for ever, that I may daily perform my vows.

De la sorte, je célébrerai ton nom à jamais, afin de m’acquitter de mes vœux jour par jour.
