Psalms 58
1 For the Leader; Al-tashheth. A Psalm of David; Michtam. Do ye indeed speak as a righteous company? Do ye judge with equity the sons of men?
Au chef de musique. Al-Tashkheth. De David. Mictam. Est-ce que vraiment la justice se tait? Prononcez-vous [ce qui est juste]? Vous, fils des hommes, jugez-vous avec droiture?
2 Yea, in heart ye work wickedness; ye weigh out in the earth the violence of your hands.
Bien plutôt, dans le cœur, vous commettez des iniquités; dans le pays, vous pesez la violence de vos mains.
3 The wicked are estranged from the womb; the speakers of lies go astray as soon as they are born.
Les méchants se sont égarés dès la matrice; ils errent dès le ventre, parlant le mensonge.
4 Their venom is like the venom of a serpent; they are like the deaf asp that stoppeth her ear;
Ils ont un venin semblable au venin d’un serpent, comme l’aspic sourd qui se bouche l’oreille,
5 Which hearkeneth not to the voice of charmers, or of the most cunning binder of spells.
Qui n’entend pas la voix des charmeurs, du sorcier expert en sorcelleries.
6 Break their teeth, O God, in their mouth; break out the cheek-teeth of the young lions, O LORD.
Ô Dieu! dans leur bouche brise leurs dents; Éternel! arrache les grosses dents des jeunes lions.
7 Let them melt away as water that runneth apace; when he aimeth his arrows, let them be as though they were cut off.
Qu’ils se fondent comme des eaux qui s’écoulent! S’il ajuste ses flèches, qu’elles soient comme cassées!
8 Let them be as a snail which melteth and passeth away; like the untimely births of a woman, that have not seen the sun.
Qu’ils soient comme une limace qui va se fondant! Comme l’avorton d’une femme, qu’ils ne voient pas le soleil!
9 Before your pots can feel the thorns, He will sweep it away with a whirlwind, the raw and the burning alike.
Avant que vos chaudières aient senti les épines, vertes ou enflammées, le tourbillon les emportera.
10 The righteous shall rejoice when he seeth the vengeance; he shall wash his feet in the blood of the wicked.
Le juste se réjouira quand il verra la vengeance; il lavera ses pieds dans le sang du méchant.
11 And men shall say: 'Verily there is a reward for the righteous; verily there is a God that judgeth in the earth.'
Et l’homme dira: Certainement il y a un fruit pour le juste, certainement il y a un Dieu qui juge sur la terre.
