Psalms 51

1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David; When Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba. Be gracious unto me, O God, according to Thy mercy; according to the multitude of Thy compassions blot out my transgressions.

Smiluj se na me, Bože, po milosti svojoj, i po velikoj dobroti svojoj oèisti bezakonje moje.

2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.

Operi me dobro od bezakonja mojega, i od grijeha mojega oèisti me.

3 For I know my transgressions; and my sin is ever before me.

Jer ja znam prijestupe svoje, i grijeh je moj jednako preda mnom.

4 Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in Thy sight; that Thou mayest be justified when Thou speakest, and be in the right when Thou judgest.

Samome tebi zgriješih, i na tvoje oèi zlo uèinih, a ti si pravedan u rijeèima svojim i èist u sudu svojem.

5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.

Gle, u bezakonju rodih se, i u grijehu zatrudnje mati moja mnom.

6 Behold, Thou desirest truth in the inward parts; make me, therefore, to know wisdom in mine inmost heart.

Gle, istinu ljubiš u srcu, i iznutra javljaš mi mudrost.

7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.

Pokropi me isopom, i oèistiæu se; umij me, i biæu bjelji od snijega.

8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which Thou hast crushed may rejoice.

Daj mi da slušam radost i veselje, da se prenu kosti koje si potro.

9 Hide Thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.

Odvrati lice svoje od grijeha mojih, i sva bezakonja moja oèisti.

10 Create me a clean heart, O God; and renew a stedfast spirit within me.

Uèini mi, Bože, èisto srce, i duh prav ponovi u meni.

11 Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy holy spirit from me.

Nemoj me odvrgnuti od lica svojega, i svetoga duha svojega nemoj uzeti od mene.

12 Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation; and let a willing spirit uphold me.

Vrati mi radost spasenja svojega, i duh vladalaèki neka me potkrijepi.

13 Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways; and sinners shall return unto Thee.

Nauèiæu bezakonike putovima tvojim, i grješnici k tebi æe se obratiti.

14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, Thou God of my salvation; so shall my tongue sing aloud of Thy righteousness.

Izbavi me od krvi, Bože, Bože, spasitelju moj, i jezik æe moj glasiti pravdu tvoju.

15 O Lord, open Thou my lips; and my mouth shall declare Thy praise.

Gospode! otvori usta moja, i ona æe kazati hvalu tvoju.

16 For Thou delightest not in sacrifice, else would I give it; Thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering.

Jer žrtve neæeš: ja bih je prinio; za žrtve paljenice ne mariš.

17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.

Žrtva je Bogu duh skrušen, srca skrušena i poništena ne odbacuješ, Bože.

18 Do good in Thy favour unto Zion; build Thou the walls of Jerusalem.

Po dobroti svojoj, Gospode, èini dobro Sionu, podigni zidove Jerusalimske.

19 Then wilt Thou delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt-offering and whole offering; then will they offer bullocks upon Thine altar.

Onda æe ti biti mile žrtve pravde, prinosi i žrtve paljenice; onda æe metati na žrtvenik tvoj teoce.
