Psalms 51
1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David; When Nathan the prophet came unto him, after he had gone in to Bath-sheba. Be gracious unto me, O God, according to Thy mercy; according to the multitude of Thy compassions blot out my transgressions.
Przewodnikowi chóru. Psalm Dawida, gdy do niego przyszedł prorok Natan po tym, jak on wszedł do Batszeby. Zmiłuj się nade mną, Boże, według twojego miłosierdzia; według twojej wielkiej litości zgładź moje występki.
2 Wash me thoroughly from mine iniquity, and cleanse me from my sin.
Obmyj mnie zupełnie z mojej nieprawości i oczyść mnie z mego grzechu.
3 For I know my transgressions; and my sin is ever before me.
Uznaję bowiem moje występki, a mój grzech zawsze jest przede mną.
4 Against Thee, Thee only, have I sinned, and done that which is evil in Thy sight; that Thou mayest be justified when Thou speakest, and be in the right when Thou judgest.
Przeciw tobie, tobie samemu, zgrzeszyłem i zło uczyniłem na twoich oczach, abyś okazał się sprawiedliwy w swoich słowach i czysty w swoim sądzie.
5 Behold, I was brought forth in iniquity, and in sin did my mother conceive me.
Oto zostałem zrodzony w nieprawości i w grzechu poczęła mnie moja matka.
6 Behold, Thou desirest truth in the inward parts; make me, therefore, to know wisdom in mine inmost heart.
Oto miłujesz prawdę wewnętrzną i w głębi serca dasz mi poznać mądrość.
7 Purge me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
Oczyść mnie hizopem, a będę oczyszczony; obmyj mnie, a stanę się bielszy od śniegu.
8 Make me to hear joy and gladness; that the bones which Thou hast crushed may rejoice.
Daj mi usłyszeć radość i wesele; niech się rozradują kości, które skruszyłeś.
9 Hide Thy face from my sins, and blot out all mine iniquities.
Odwróć swe oblicze od moich grzechów i zgładź wszystkie moje nieprawości.
10 Create me a clean heart, O God; and renew a stedfast spirit within me.
Stwórz we mnie serce czyste, o Boże, i odnów we mnie ducha prawego.
11 Cast me not away from Thy presence; and take not Thy holy spirit from me.
Nie odrzucaj mnie sprzed twego oblicza i nie odbieraj mi swego Ducha Świętego.
12 Restore unto me the joy of Thy salvation; and let a willing spirit uphold me.
Przywróć mi radość twego zbawienia i wesprzyj mnie duchem ochoczym.
13 Then will I teach transgressors Thy ways; and sinners shall return unto Thee.
[Wtedy] będę nauczał przestępców twoich dróg i grzesznicy nawrócą się do ciebie.
14 Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, Thou God of my salvation; so shall my tongue sing aloud of Thy righteousness.
Uwolnij mnie od winy [za przelanie] krwi, o Boże, Boże mego zbawienia, a mój język będzie wysławiał twoją sprawiedliwość.
15 O Lord, open Thou my lips; and my mouth shall declare Thy praise.
Panie, otwórz moje wargi, a moje usta będą głosić twoją chwałę.
16 For Thou delightest not in sacrifice, else would I give it; Thou hast no pleasure in burnt-offering.
Ty bowiem nie pragniesz ofiar, choćbym ci je dał, ani nie przyjmiesz całopalenia.
17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and a contrite heart, O God, Thou wilt not despise.
Ofiary dla Boga [to] duch skruszony; sercem skruszonym i zgnębionym nie wzgardzisz, o Boże!
18 Do good in Thy favour unto Zion; build Thou the walls of Jerusalem.
Okaż dobroć Syjonowi według twego upodobania; odbuduj mury Jeruzalem.
19 Then wilt Thou delight in the sacrifices of righteousness, in burnt-offering and whole offering; then will they offer bullocks upon Thine altar.
Wtedy przyjmiesz ofiary sprawiedliwości, ofiary ogniste i całopalenia; wtedy będą składać cielce na twoim ołtarzu.
