< Psalms 5 >

1 For the Leader; upon the Nehiloth. A Psalm of David. Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my (meditation)
To the Overseer, 'Concerning the Inheritances.' — A Psalm of David. My sayings hear, O Jehovah, Consider my (meditation)
2 Hearken unto the voice of my cry, my King, and my God; for unto Thee do I pray.
Be attentive to the voice of my cry, My king and my God, For unto Thee I pray habitually.
3 O LORD, in the morning shalt Thou hear my voice; in the morning will I order my prayer unto Thee, and will look forward.
Jehovah, [at] morning Thou hearest my voice, [At] morning I set in array for Thee, And I look out.
4 For Thou art not a God that hath pleasure in wickedness; evil shall not sojourn with Thee.
For not a God desiring wickedness [art] Thou, Evil inhabiteth Thee not.
5 The boasters shall not stand in Thy sight; Thou hatest all workers of iniquity.
The boastful station not themselves before Thine eyes: Thou hast hated all working iniquity.
6 Thou destroyest them that speak falsehood; the LORD abhorreth the man of blood and of deceit.
Thou destroyest those speaking lies, A man of blood and deceit Jehovah doth abominate.
7 But as for me, in the abundance of Thy lovingkindness will I come into Thy house; I will bow down toward Thy holy temple in the fear of Thee.
And I, in the abundance of Thy kindness, I enter Thy house, I bow myself toward Thy holy temple in Thy fear.
8 O LORD, lead me in Thy righteousness because of them that lie in wait for me; make Thy way straight before my face.
O Jehovah, lead me in Thy righteousness, Because of those observing me, Make straight before me Thy way,
9 For there is no sincerity in their mouth; their inward part is a yawning gulf, their throat is an open sepulchre; they make smooth their tongue.
For there is no stability in their mouth. Their heart [is] mischiefs, An open grave [is] their throat, Their tongue they make smooth.
10 Hold them guilty, O God, let them fall by their own counsels; cast them down in the multitude of their transgressions; for they have rebelled against Thee.
Declare them guilty, O God, Let them fall from their own counsels, In the abundance of their transgressions Drive them away, Because they have rebelled against Thee.
11 So shall all those that take refuge in Thee rejoice, they shall ever shout for joy, and Thou shalt shelter them; let them also that love Thy name exult in Thee.
And rejoice do all trusting in Thee, To the age they sing, and Thou coverest them over, And those loving Thy name exult in Thee.
12 For Thou dost bless the righteous; O LORD, Thou dost encompass him with favour as with a shield.
For Thou blessest the righteous, O Jehovah, As a buckler with favour dost compass him!
