Psalms 49
1 For the Leader; a Psalm of the sons of Korah. Hear this, all ye peoples; give ear, all ye inhabitants of the world,
«Εις τον πρώτον μουσικόν. Ψαλμός διά τους υιούς Κορέ.» Ακούσατε ταύτα, πάντες οι λαοί· ακροάσθητε, πάντες οι κάτοικοι της οικουμένης·
2 Both low and high, rich and poor together.
μικροί τε και μεγάλοι, πλούσιοι ομού και πένητες.
3 My mouth shall speak wisdom, and the meditation of my heart shall be understanding.
Το στόμα μου θέλει λαλήσει σοφίαν· και η μελέτη της καρδίας μου είναι σύνεσις.
4 I will incline mine ear to a parable; I will open my dark saying upon the harp.
Θέλω κλίνει εις παραβολήν το ωτίον μου· θέλω εκθέσει εν κιθάρα το αίνιγμά μου.
5 Wherefore should I fear in the days of evil, when the iniquity of my supplanters compasseth me about,
Διά τι να φοβώμαι εν ημέραις συμφοράς, όταν με περικυκλώση η ανομία των ενεδρευόντων με;
6 Of them that trust in their wealth, and boast themselves in the multitude of their riches?
Οίτινες ελπίζουσιν εις τα αγαθά αυτών και καυχώνται εις το πλήθος του πλούτου αυτών·
7 No man can by any means redeem his brother, nor give to God a ransom for him —
ουδείς δύναται ποτέ να εξαγοράση αδελφόν, μηδέ να δώση εις τον Θεόν λύτρον δι' αυτόν·
8 For too costly is the redemption of their soul, and must be let alone for ever —
διότι πολύτιμος είναι η απολύτρωσις της ψυχής αυτών, και ανεύρητος διαπαντός,
9 That he should still live alway, that he should not see the pit.
ώστε να ζη αιωνίως, να μη ίδη διαφθοράν.
10 For he seeth that wise men die, the fool and the brutish together perish, and leave their wealth to others.
Διότι βλέπει τους σοφούς αποθνήσκοντας, καθώς και τον άφρονα και τον ανόητον απολλυμένους και καταλείποντας εις άλλους τα αγαθά αυτών.
11 Their inward thought is, that their houses shall continue for ever, and their dwelling-places to all generations; they call their lands after their own names.
Ο εσωτερικός λογισμός αυτών είναι ότι οι οίκοι αυτών θέλουσιν υπάρχει εις τον αιώνα, αι κατοικίαι αυτών εις γενεάν και γενεάν· ονομάζουσι τα υποστατικά αυτών με τα ίδια αυτών ονόματα.
12 But man abideth not in honour; he is like the beasts that perish.
Πλην ο άνθρωπος ο εν τιμή δεν διαμένει, ωμοιώθη με τα κτήνη τα φθειρόμενα.
13 This is the way of them that are foolish, and of those who after them approve their sayings. (Selah)
Αύτη η οδός αυτών είναι μωρία αυτών· και όμως οι απόγονοι αυτών ηδύνονται εις τα λόγια αυτών. Διάψαλμα.
14 Like sheep they are appointed for the nether-world; death shall be their shepherd; and the upright shall have dominion over them in the morning; and their form shall be for the nether-world to wear away, that there be no habitation for it. (Sheol h7585)
Ως πρόβατα εβλήθησαν εις τον άδην· θάνατος θέλει ποιμάνει αυτούς· και οι ευθείς θέλουσι κατακυριεύσει αυτούς το πρωΐ· η δε δύναμις αυτών θέλει παλαιωθή εν τω άδη, αφού έκαστος αφήση την κατοικίαν αυτού. (Sheol h7585)
15 But God will redeem my soul from the power of the nether-world; for He shall receive me. (Selah) (Sheol h7585)
Αλλ' ο Θεός θέλει λυτρώσει την ψυχήν μου εκ χειρός άδου· διότι θέλει με δεχθή. Διάψαλμα. (Sheol h7585)
16 Be not thou afraid when one waxeth rich, when the wealth of his house is increased;
Μη φοβού όταν πλουτήση άνθρωπος, όταν αυξήση η δόξα της οικίας αυτού·
17 For when he dieth he shall carry nothing away; his wealth shall not descend after him.
διότι εν τω θανάτω αυτού, δεν θέλει συμπαραλάβει ουδέν, ουδέ θέλει καταβή κατόπιν αυτού η δόξα αυτού.
18 Though while he lived he blessed his soul: 'Men will praise thee, when thou shalt do well to thyself';
Αν και ηυλόγησε την ψυχήν αυτού εν τη ζωή αυτού, και οι άνθρωποι θέλωσι σε επαινεί αγαθοποιούντα σεαυτόν,
19 It shall go to the generation of his fathers; they shall never see the light.
Θέλει υπάγει εις την γενεάν των πατέρων αυτού· εις τον αιώνα δεν θέλουσιν ιδεί φως.
20 Man that is in honour understandeth not; he is like the beasts that perish.
Ο άνθρωπος ο εν τιμή και μη εννοών ωμοιώθη με τα κτήνη τα φθειρόμενα.
