Psalms 48

1 A Song; a Psalm of the sons of Korah. Great is the LORD, and highly to be praised, in the city of our God, His holy mountain,

Ein Lied, ein Psalm für die Söhne Korachs. Groß ist Jehovah, und sehr zu loben in unseres Gottes Stadt, auf dem Berge Seiner Heiligkeit.

2 Fair in situation, the joy of the whole earth; even mount Zion, the uttermost parts of the north, the city of the great King.

Schön erstreckt sich der ganzen Erde Freude, der Berg Zion von den Seiten der Mitternacht, die Stadt des großen Königs.

3 God in her palaces hath made Himself known for a stronghold.

Gott ist in ihren Palästen bekannt als Burg.

4 For, lo, the kings assembled themselves, they came onward together.

Denn siehe, die Könige taten sich zusammen, sie gingen allesamt vorüber.

5 They saw, straightway they were amazed; they were affrighted, they hasted away.

Sie sahen, so staunten sie, sie waren bestürzt, sie enteilten.

6 Trembling took hold of them there, pangs, as of a woman in travail.

Beben ergriff sie da, ein Kreißen wie die Gebärerin.

7 With the east wind Thou breakest the ships of Tarshish.

Durch den Ostwind zerbrichst Du die Schiffe von Tharschisch.

8 As we have heard, so have we seen in the city of the LORD of hosts, in the city of our God — God establish it for ever. (Selah)

Wie wir es gehört hatten, so sahen wir es in der Stadt Jehovahs der Heerscharen, in unseres Gottes Stadt; Gott festigt sie ewiglich. (Selah)

9 We have thought on Thy lovingkindness, O God, in the midst of Thy temple.

Gott, wir bedenken Deine Barmherzigkeit inmitten Deines Tempels.

10 As is Thy name, O God, so is Thy praise unto the ends of the earth; Thy right hand is full of righteousness.

Wie Dein Name, o Gott, so ist Dein Lob bis an die Enden der Erde. Voller Gerechtigkeit ist Deine Rechte.

11 Let mount Zion be glad, let the daughters of Judah rejoice, because of Thy judgments.

Es sei fröhlich der Berg Zion, frohlocken sollen Judahs Töchter um Deiner Gerichte willen.

12 Walk about Zion, and go round about her; count the towers thereof.

Ziehet um Zion, umringet es, zählt seine Türme.

13 Mark ye well her ramparts, traverse her palaces; that ye may tell it to the generation following.

Und richtet euer Herz auf seine Vormauer, durchforscht seine Paläste, daß ihr es einem späteren Geschlechte erzählt,

14 For such is God, our God, for ever and ever; He will guide us eternally.

Daß dieser Gott ist unser Gott ewig und immerfort, Er geleitet uns bis zum Tode.
