Psalms 45
1 For the Leader; upon Shoshannim; a Psalm of the sons of Korah. Maschil. A Song of loves. My heart overfloweth with a goodly matter; I say: 'My work is concerning a king'; my tongue is the pen of a ready writer.
Pour le chef musicien. Réglé sur « The Lilies ». Une contemplation par les fils de Korah. Un chant de mariage. Mon cœur déborde d'un thème noble. Je récite mes vers pour le roi. Ma langue est comme la plume d'un habile écrivain.
2 Thou art fairer than the children of men; grace is poured upon thy lips; therefore God hath blessed thee for ever.
Tu es le plus excellent des fils de l'homme. La grâce a oint vos lèvres, donc Dieu vous a béni pour toujours.
3 Gird thy sword upon thy thigh, O mighty one, thy glory and thy majesty.
Attache ton épée à ta cuisse, ô puissant, dans ta splendeur et ta majesté.
4 And in thy majesty prosper, ride on, in behalf of truth and meekness and righteousness; and let thy right hand teach thee tremendous things.
Dans ta majesté, monte victorieusement au nom de la vérité, de l'humilité et de la droiture. Laissez votre main droite afficher des actions impressionnantes.
5 Thine arrows are sharp — the peoples fall under thee — they sink into the heart of the king's enemies.
Tes flèches sont acérées. Les nations tombent sous toi, avec des flèches dans le cœur des ennemis du roi.
6 Thy throne given of God is for ever and ever; a sceptre of equity is the sceptre of thy kingdom.
Ton trône, Dieu, est éternel et permanent. Un sceptre d'équité est le sceptre de votre royaume.
7 Thou hast loved righteousness, and hated wickedness; therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows.
Tu as aimé la justice, et tu as haï la méchanceté. C'est pourquoi Dieu, ton Dieu, t'a oint d'une huile d'allégresse au-dessus de tes semblables.
8 Myrrh, and aloes, and cassia are all thy garments; out of ivory palaces stringed instruments have made thee glad.
Tous tes vêtements sentent la myrrhe, l'aloès et la casse. Des palais d'ivoire, des instruments à cordes vous ont réjoui.
9 Kings' daughters are among thy favourites; at thy right hand doth stand the queen in gold of Ophir.
Les filles des rois sont parmi vos femmes d'honneur. A votre droite, la reine se tient en or d'Ophir.
10 'Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house;
Écoute, ma fille, réfléchis, et prête l'oreille. Oublie ton propre peuple, et aussi la maison de ton père.
11 So shall the king desire thy beauty; for he is thy lord; and do homage unto him.
Ainsi le roi désirera ta beauté, honorez-le, car il est votre seigneur.
12 And, O daughter of Tyre, the richest of the people shall entreat thy favour with a gift.'
La fille de Tyr vient avec un présent. Les riches parmi le peuple implorent votre faveur.
13 All glorious is the king's daughter within the palace; her raiment is of chequer work inwrought with gold.
La princesse à l'intérieur est toute glorieuse. Ses vêtements sont tissés d'or.
14 She shall be led unto the king on richly woven stuff; the virgins her companions in her train being brought unto thee.
Elle sera conduite au roi dans un ouvrage brodé. Les vierges, ses compagnes qui la suivent, te seront amenées.
15 They shall be led with gladness and rejoicing; they shall enter into the king's palace.
Ils seront conduits avec joie et allégresse. Ils entreront dans le palais du roi.
16 Instead of thy fathers shall be thy sons, whom thou shalt make princes in all the land.
Vos fils prendront la place de vos pères. Tu en feras des princes sur toute la terre.
17 I will make thy name to be remembered in all generations; therefore shall the peoples praise thee for ever and ever.
Je ferai en sorte qu'on se souvienne de ton nom dans toutes les générations. C'est pourquoi les peuples te rendront grâce pour toujours et à jamais.
