Psalms 44
1 For the Leader; a Psalm of the sons of Korah. Maschil. O God, we have heard with our ears, our fathers have told us; a work Thou didst in their days, in the days of old.
Керівнику хору. Повчання синів Корея. Боже, ми чули своїми вухами, батьки наші розповідали нам про величні діяння, що вчинив Ти у давні дні.
2 Thou with Thy hand didst drive out the nations, and didst plant them in; Thou didst break the peoples, and didst spread them abroad.
Ти вигнав Своєю рукою народи, а предків наших насадив [на цій землі], Ти вразив племена і вислав їх геть.
3 For not by their own sword did they get the land in possession, neither did their own arm save them; but Thy right hand, and Thine arm, and the light of Thy countenance, because Thou wast favourable unto them.
Адже не мечем своїм [батьки наші] взяли у спадок землю і не їхня міцна рука принесла їм перемогу, а Твоя правиця, Твоя міць і світло Твого обличчя, бо Ти вподобав їх.
4 Thou art my King, O God; command the salvation of Jacob.
Ти – Цар мій, Боже. Накажи дати перемогу Якову!
5 Through Thee do we push down our adversaries; through Thy name do we tread them under that rise up against us.
З Тобою ми здолаємо в битві супротивників наших, в ім’я Твоє потопчемо тих, хто повстав проти нас.
6 For I trust not in my bow, neither can my sword save me.
Бо не на лук свій я покладаю надію і не меч мій дарує мені перемогу.
7 But Thou hast saved us from our adversaries, and hast put them to shame that hate us.
Але Ти рятуєш нас від супротивників наших і ненависників наших вкриваєш ганьбою.
8 In God have we gloried all the day, and we will give thanks unto Thy name for ever. (Selah)
Богом ми хвалимось цілий день і Твоє ім’я прославлятимемо повік. (Села)
9 Yet Thou hast cast off, and brought us to confusion; and goest not forth with our hosts.
Тепер же Ти покинув і посоромив нас, і більше не виходиш разом із воїнствами нашими [на битву].
10 Thou makest us to turn back from the adversary; and they that hate us spoil at their will.
Ти змусив нас втікати назад від супротивника, і ненависники наші грабують нас.
11 Thou hast given us like sheep to be eaten; and hast scattered us among the nations.
Ти віддав нас, як овець, на поїдання і розсіяв нас серед народів.
12 Thou sellest Thy people for small gain, and hast not set their prices high.
Ти продав народ Твій за безцінь, не отримавши від його продажу жодного зиску.
13 Thou makest us a taunt to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.
Ти вкрив нас ганьбою перед сусідами нашими, глузуванням і знущанням перед усіма, хто оточує нас.
14 Thou makest us a byword among the nations, a shaking of the head among the peoples.
Приказкою [глузливою] Ти зробив нас серед народів, племена хитають [насмішливо] головами в наш бік.
15 All the day is my confusion before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,
Щодня безчестя моє переді мною, і сором вкриває моє обличчя
16 For the voice of him that taunteth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and the revengeful.
через те, що голос лихослова й глузія [я чую], через ворога й месника.
17 All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten Thee, neither have we been false to Thy covenant.
Усе це лихо спіткало нас, хоча ми не забули Тебе й не зрадили Завіту Твого.
18 Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from Thy path;
Серця наші не відступили назад, і наші стопи не збочили з Твоєї стежки.
19 Though Thou hast crushed us into a place of jackals, and covered us with the shadow of death.
Але Ти вразив нас у [пустельному] місці, де мешкають шакали, і вкрив нас тінню смерті.
20 If we had forgotten the name of our God, or spread forth our hands to a strange god;
Якби ми забули ім’я Бога нашого й простягнули долоні наші до чужого бога,
21 Would not God search this out? For He knoweth the secrets of the heart.
хіба Бог не виявив би цього? Адже Він знає приховані глибини серця.
22 Nay, but for Thy sake are we killed all the day; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.
Однак заради Тебе нас убивають щодня, вважають нас за овець, призначених на заколення.
23 Awake, why sleepest Thou, O Lord? Arouse Thyself, cast not off for ever.
Прокинься! Чому Ти спиш, Владико? Пробудись! Не покидай нас навіки.
24 Wherefore hidest Thou Thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?
Чому Ти ховаєш Своє обличчя, забуваючи про приниження й гніт наш?
25 For our soul is bowed down to the dust; our belly cleaveth unto the earth.
Адже до пороху земного зведена душа наша, до землі прилинуло нутро наше.
26 Arise for our help, and redeem us for Thy mercy's sake.
Повстань, будь нам допомогою! Визволи нас заради милості Твоєї.
