Psalms 40
1 For the Leader. A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and He inclined unto me, and heard my cry.
聖歌隊の指揮者によってうたわせたダビデの歌 わたしは耐え忍んで主を待ち望んだ。主は耳を傾けて、わたしの叫びを聞かれた。
2 He brought me up also out of the tumultuous pit, out of the miry clay; and He set my feet upon a rock, He established my goings.
主はわたしを滅びの穴から、泥の沼から引きあげて、わたしの足を岩の上におき、わたしの歩みをたしかにされた。
3 And He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God; many shall see, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD.
主は新しい歌をわたしの口に授け、われらの神にささげるさんびの歌をわたしの口に授けられた。多くの人はこれを見て恐れ、かつ主に信頼するであろう。
4 Happy is the man that hath made the LORD his trust, and hath not turned unto the arrogant, nor unto such as fall away treacherously.
主をおのが頼みとする人、高ぶる者にたよらず、偽りの神に迷う者にたよらない人はさいわいである。
5 Many things hast Thou done, O LORD my God, even Thy wonderful works, and Thy thoughts toward us; there is none to be compared unto Thee! If I would declare and speak of them, they are more than can be told.
わが神、主よ、あなたのくすしきみわざと、われらを思うみおもいとは多くて、くらべうるものはない。わたしはこれを語り述べようとしても多くて数えることはできない。
6 Sacrifice and meal-offering Thou hast no delight in; mine ears hast Thou opened; burnt-offering and sin-offering hast Thou not required.
あなたはいけにえと供え物とを喜ばれない。あなたはわたしの耳を開かれた。あなたは燔祭と罪祭とを求められない。
7 Then said I: 'Lo, I am come with the roll of a book which is prescribed for me;
その時わたしは言った、「見よ、わたしはまいります。書の巻に、わたしのためにしるされています。
8 I delight to do Thy will, O my God; yea, Thy law is in my inmost parts.'
わが神よ、わたしはみこころを行うことを喜びます。あなたのおきてはわたしの心のうちにあります」と。
9 I have preached righteousness in the great congregation, lo, I did not refrain my lips; O LORD, Thou knowest.
わたしは大いなる集会で、救についての喜びのおとずれを告げ示しました。見よ、わたしはくちびるを閉じませんでした。主よ、あなたはこれをご存じです。
10 I have not hid Thy righteousness within my heart; I have declared Thy faithfulness and Thy salvation; I have not concealed Thy mercy and Thy truth from the great congregation.
わたしはあなたの救を心のうちに隠しおかず、あなたのまことと救とを告げ示しました。わたしはあなたのいつくしみとまこととを大いなる集会に隠しませんでした。
11 Thou, O LORD, wilt not withhold Thy compassions from me; let Thy mercy and Thy truth continually preserve me.
主よ、あなたのあわれみをわたしに惜しまず、あなたのいつくしみとまこととをもって常にわたしをお守りください。
12 For innumerable evils have compassed me about, mine iniquities have overtaken me, so that I am not able to look up; they are more than the hairs of my head, and my heart hath failed me.
数えがたい災がわたしを囲み、わたしの不義がわたしに追い迫って、物見ることができないまでになりました。それはわたしの頭の毛よりも多く、わたしの心は消えうせるばかりになりました。
13 Be pleased, O LORD, to deliver me; O LORD, make haste to help me.
主よ、みこころならばわたしをお救いください。主よ、すみやかにわたしをお助けください。
14 Let them be ashamed and abashed together that seek after my soul to sweep it away; let them be turned backward and brought to confusion that delight in my hurt.
わたしのいのちを奪おうと尋ね求める者どもをことごとく恥じあわてさせてください。わたしのそこなわれることを願う者どもをうしろに退かせ、恥を負わせてください。
15 Let them be appalled by reason of their shame that say unto me: 'Aha, aha.'
わたしにむかって「あはぁ、あはぁ」と言う者どもを自分の恥によって恐れおののかせてください。
16 Let all those that seek Thee rejoice and be glad in Thee; let such as love Thy salvation say continually: 'The LORD be magnified.'
しかし、すべてあなたを尋ね求める者はあなたによって喜び楽しむように。あなたの救を愛する者は常に「主は大いなるかな」ととなえるように。
17 But, as for me, that am poor and needy, the Lord will account it unto me; Thou art my help and my deliverer; O my God, tarry not.
わたしは貧しく、かつ乏しい。しかし主はわたしをかえりみられます。あなたはわが助け、わが救主です。わが神よ、ためらわないでください。
