Psalms 4
1 For the Leader; with string-music. A Psalm of David. Answer me when I call, O God of my righteousness, Thou who didst set me free when I was in distress; be gracious unto me, and hear my prayer.
Au maître de chant, sur les instruments à cordes. Psaume de David. Quand je t’invoque, réponds-moi, Dieu de ma justice, toi qui dans ma détresse, me mets au large. Aie pitié de moi et entends ma prière!
2 O ye sons of men, how long shall my glory be put to shame, in that ye love vanity, and seek after falsehood? (Selah)
Fils des hommes, jusques à quand ma gloire sera-t-elle outragée? Jusques à quand aimerez-vous la vanité, et rechercherez-vous le mensonge? — Séla.
3 But know that the LORD hath set apart the godly man as His own; the LORD will hear when I call unto Him.
Sachez que Yahweh s’est choisi un homme pieux; Yahweh entend quand je l’invoque.
4 Tremble, and sin not; commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. (Selah)
Tremblez, et ne péchez plus! Parlez-vous à vous-mêmes sur votre couche, et cessez! — Séla.
5 Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.
Offrez des sacrifices de justice, et confiez-vous en Yahweh.
6 Many there are that say: 'Oh that we could see some good!' LORD, lift Thou up the light of Thy countenance upon us.
Beaucoup disent: « Qui nous fera voir le bonheur? » Fais lever sur nous la lumière de ta face, Yahweh!
7 Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than when their corn and their wine increase.
Tu as mis dans mon cœur plus de joie qu’ils n’en ont au temps où abondent leur froment et leur vin nouveau.
8 In peace will I both lay me down and sleep; for Thou, LORD, makest me dwell alone in safety.
En paix je me coucherai et je m’endormirai aussitôt; car toi, Yahweh, toi seul, tu me fais habiter dans la sécurité.
