Psalms 37
1 A Psalm of David. Fret not thyself because of evil-doers, neither be thou envious against them that work unrighteousness.
Von David. Entrüste dich nicht über die Bösen
2 For they shall soon wither like the grass, and fade as the green herb.
denn schnell wie das Gras verwelken sie und verdorren wie grünender Rasen.
3 Trust in the LORD, and do good; dwell in the land, and cherish faithfulness.
Vertrau auf den HERRN und tu das Gute, bleib wohnen im Lande und übe Redlichkeit
4 So shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and He shall give thee the petitions of thy heart.
und habe deine Lust am HERRN: so wird er dir geben, was dein Herz begehrt.
5 Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in Him, and He will bring it to pass.
Befiehl dem HERRN deine Wege und vertraue auf ihn: er wird’s wohl machen
6 And He will make thy righteousness to go forth as the light, and thy right as the noonday.
und deine Gerechtigkeit strahlen lassen wie das Licht und dein Recht wie den hellen Mittag.
7 Resign thyself unto the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; fret not thyself because of him who prospereth in his way, because of the man who bringeth wicked devices to pass.
Sei stille dem HERRN und harre auf ihn, entrüste dich nicht über den, der Glück hat bei seinem Tun, über den Mann, der Ränke übt!
8 Cease from anger, and forsake wrath; fret not thyself, it tendeth only to evil-doing.
Steh ab vom Zorn und entsage dem Grimm, entrüste dich nicht: es führt nur zum Bösestun!
9 For evil-doers shall be cut off; but those that wait for the LORD, they shall inherit the land.
Denn die Übeltäter werden ausgerottet, doch die da harren des HERRN, die werden das Land besitzen.
10 And yet a little while, and the wicked is no more; yea, thou shalt look well at his place, and he is not.
Nur noch ein Weilchen, so wird der Frevler nicht mehr sein, und siehst du dich um nach seiner Stätte, so ist er nicht mehr da;
11 But the humble shall inherit the land, and delight themselves in the abundance of peace.
die stillen Dulder aber werden das Land besitzen und sich freun an der Fülle des Friedens.
12 The wicked plotteth against the righteous, and gnasheth at him with his teeth.
Böses sinnt der Frevler gegen den Gerechten und knirscht mit den Zähnen gegen ihn;
13 The Lord doth laugh at him; for He seeth that his day is coming.
der Allherr aber lacht über ihn, denn er sieht, daß sein Tag kommt.
14 The wicked have drawn out the sword, and have bent their bow; to cast down the poor and needy, to slay such as are upright in the way;
Die Frevler zücken das Schwert und spannen den Bogen, um den Dulder und Armen niederzustrecken und die redlich Wandelnden hinzumorden;
15 Their sword shall enter into their own heart, and their bows shall be broken.
doch ihr Schwert dringt ihnen ins eigne Herz, und ihre Bogen werden zerbrochen.
16 Better is a little that the righteous hath than the abundance of many wicked.
Das geringe Gut des Gerechten ist besser als der Überfluß vieler Gottlosen;
17 For the arms of the wicked shall be broken; but the LORD upholdeth the righteous.
denn die Arme der Gottlosen werden zerbrochen, die Gerechten aber stützt der HERR.
18 The LORD knoweth the days of them that are wholehearted; and their inheritance shall be for ever.
Der HERR kennt wohl die Tage der Frommen, und ihr Besitz ist für immer gesichert;
19 They shall not be ashamed in the time of evil; and in the days of famine they shall be satisfied.
sie werden nicht zuschanden in böser Zeit, nein, in den Tagen des Hungers werden sie satt.
20 For the wicked shall perish, and the enemies of the LORD shall be as the fat of lambs — they shall pass away in smoke, they shall pass away.
Dagegen die Gottlosen gehen zugrunde, und die Feinde des HERRN sind wie die Pracht der Auen: sie vergehen wie Rauch, sie vergehen!
21 The wicked borroweth, and payeth not; but the righteous dealeth graciously, and giveth.
Der Gottlose muß borgen und kann nicht zahlen, der Gerechte aber schenkt und gibt;
22 For such as are blessed of Him shall inherit the land; and they that are cursed of Him shall be cut off.
denn die vom HERRN Gesegneten erben das Land, aber die von ihm Verfluchten werden vernichtet.
23 It is of the LORD that a man's goings are established; and He delighted in his way.
Vom HERRN her werden die Schritte des Mannes gefestigt, und zwar wenn Gefallen er hat an seinem Wandel;
24 Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the LORD upholdeth his hand.
wenn er strauchelt, stürzt er nicht völlig nieder, denn der HERR stützt ihm die Hand.
25 I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread.
Ich bin jung gewesen und alt geworden, doch hab’ ich nie den Gerechten verlassen gesehn, noch seine Kinder betteln um Brot.
26 All the day long he dealeth graciously, and lendeth; and his seed is blessed.
Allzeit kann er schenken und darleihn, und auch noch seine Kinder sind zum Segen.
27 Depart from evil, and do good; and dwell for evermore.
Halte dich fern vom Bösen und tu das Gute, so wirst du für immer wohnen bleiben;
28 For the LORD loveth justice, and forsaketh not His saints; they are preserved for ever; but the seed of the wicked shall be cut off.
Denn der HERR hat das Recht lieb und verläßt seine Frommen nicht: ewiglich werden sie behütet, doch der Gottlosen Nachwuchs wird ausgerottet.
29 The righteous shall inherit the land, and dwell therein for ever.
Die Gerechten werden das Land besitzen und bleiben in ihm wohnen für immer.
30 The mouth of the righteous uttereth wisdom, and his tongue speaketh justice.
Des Gerechten Mund läßt Weisheit hören, und seine Zunge redet Recht;
31 The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps slide.
das Gesetz seines Gottes wohnt ihm im Herzen, und seine Schritte wanken nicht.
32 The wicked watcheth the righteous, and seeketh to slay him.
Der Gottlose lauert dem Gerechten auf und sucht ihn ums Leben zu bringen;
33 The LORD will not leave him in his hand, nor suffer him to be condemned when he is judged.
doch der HERR läßt ihn nicht fallen in seine Hand und läßt ihn nicht verdammen vor Gericht.
34 Wait for the LORD, and keep His way, and He will exalt thee to inherit the land; when the wicked are cut off, thou shalt see it.
Harre des HERRN und halte dich an seinen Weg, so wird er dich erhöhn zum Besitz des Landes; an der Gottlosen Vernichtung wirst du deine Freude sehn.
35 I have seen the wicked in great power, and spreading himself like a leafy tree in its native soil.
Ich hab’ einen Frevler gesehen, der trat gar trotzig auf und spreizte sich stolz wie ein grünender, ragender Baum;
36 But one passed by, and, lo, he was not; yea, I sought him, but he could not be found.
doch als ich (wieder) vorüberging, da war er verschwunden, und als ich ihn suchte, war er nicht mehr zu finden.
37 Mark the man of integrity, and behold the upright; for there is a future for the man of peace.
Bleibe (also) fromm und halte dich recht, denn solchen wird es zuletzt wohl ergehn;
38 But transgressors shall be destroyed together; the future of the wicked shall be cut off.
die Frevler aber werden allesamt vertilgt, und der Gottlosen Nachwuchs wird ausgerottet.
39 But the salvation of the righteous is of the LORD; He is their stronghold in the time of trouble.
Die Hilfe der Gerechten kommt vom HERRN: er ist ihre Schutzwehr zur Zeit der Not;
40 And the LORD helpeth them, and delivereth them; He delivereth them from the wicked, and saveth them, because they have taken refuge in Him.
denn der HERR steht ihnen bei und rettet sie; er rettet sie von den Frevlern und bringt ihnen Hilfe, weil auf ihn sie ihr Vertrauen setzen.
