Psalms 33
1 Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous, praise is comely for the upright.
Jubelt, Gerechte, in Jahwe! / Den Redlichen ziemet Lobgesang.
2 Give thanks unto the LORD with harp, sing praises unto Him with the psaltery of ten strings.
Dankt Jahwe auf der Zither, / Auf zehnsaitiger Harfe spielet ihm!
3 Sing unto Him a new song; play skilfully amid shouts of joy.
Singt ihm ein neues Lied, / Spielt schön und kräftig mit Jubelgetön!
4 For the word of the LORD is upright; and all His work is done in faithfulness.
Denn Jahwes Wort ist wahrhaftig, / Und all sein Tun vollzieht sich in Treue.
5 He loveth righteousness and justice; the earth is full of the lovingkindness of the LORD.
Er liebet Gerechtigkeit und Recht, / Jahwes Güte erfüllt die Erde.
6 By the word of the LORD were the heavens made; and all the host of them by the breath of His mouth.
Durch Jahwes Wort sind die Himmel gemacht, / Durch den Hauch seines Mundes ihr ganzes Heer.
7 He gathereth the waters of the sea together as a heap; He layeth up the deeps in storehouses.
Er sammelt als Haufen des Meeres Wasser, / Er legt die Fluten in Vorratskammern.
8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of Him.
Vor Jahwe fürchte sich alle Welt, / Alle Erdbewohner erbeben vor ihm!
9 For He spoke, and it was; He commanded, and it stood.
Denn er hat gesprochen — da ward es; / Er hat geboten — und es stand da.
10 The LORD bringeth the counsel of the nations to nought; He maketh the thoughts of the peoples to be of no effect.
Jahwe vernichtet der Heiden Plan, / Vereitelt der Völker Gedanken.
11 The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of His heart to all generations.
Jahwes Plan bleibt ewig bestehn, / Seines Herzens Gedanken für alle Geschlechter.
12 Happy is the nation whose God is the LORD; the people whom He hath chosen for His own inheritance.
Heil dem Volke, des Gott ist Jahwe, / Dem Volk, das er sich zum Erbe erwählt!
13 The LORD looketh from heaven; He beholdeth all the sons of men;
Vom Himmel blicket Jahwe herab, / Er sieht alle Menschenkinder.
14 From the place of His habitation He looketh intently upon all the inhabitants of the earth;
Von seiner Wohnstatt schauet er / Auf alle Bewohner der Erde.
15 He that fashioneth the hearts of them all, that considereth all their doings.
Er bildet allen ihr Herz, / Er achtet auf all ihr Tun.
16 A king is not saved by the multitude of a host; a mighty man is not delivered by great strength.
Nicht siegt ein König durch große Macht, / Nicht rettet ein Held sich durch große Kraft.
17 A horse is a vain thing for safety; neither doth it afford escape by its great strength.
Nichts nützen Rosse zum Siege, / Ihre große Stärke hilft nicht entrinnen.
18 Behold, the eye of the LORD is toward them that fear Him, toward them that wait for His mercy;
Auf die, die ihn fürchten, blickt Jahwes Auge, / Auf die, die harren auf seine Huld,
19 To deliver their soul from death, and to keep them alive in famine.
Daß er ihr Leben vom Tode errette / Und sie erhalte in Hungersnot.
20 Our soul hath waited for the LORD; He is our help and our shield.
Unsre Seele wartet auf Jahwe, / Er ist uns Hilfe und Schild.
21 For in Him doth our heart rejoice, because we have trusted in His holy name.
Ja, in ihm freuet sich unser Herz. / Seinem heiligen Namen vertrauen wir.
22 Let Thy mercy, O LORD, be upon us, according as we have waited for Thee.
Deine Gnade, Jahwe, sei über uns, / Gleichwie wir auf dich harren!
