Psalms 27

1 A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

Von David. / Jahwe ist mein Licht und mein Heil! / Vor wem sollt ich mich fürchten? / Jahwe ist meines Lebens Schutz! / Vor wem sollt ich zagen?

2 When evil-doers came upon me to eat up my flesh, even mine adversaries and my foes, they stumbled and fell.

Dringen Frevler auf mich ein, / Mein Fleisch zu fressen; / Kommen meine Dränger und Feinde heran: / Sie müssen straucheln und fallen.

3 Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear; though war should rise up against me, even then will I be confident.

Lagert sich auch ein Heer wider mich — / Mein Herz ist ohne Furcht. / Erhebt sich Krieg gegen mich — / Auch dann bin ich getrost.

4 One thing have I asked of the LORD, that will I seek after: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the graciousness of the LORD, and to visit early in His temple.

Eins nur erbitt ich von Jahwe, / Dies wäre mein Wunsch: / Daß ich in Jahwes Hause bleiben darf / Mein Leben lang, / Um Jahwes Huld zu schauen / Und immer seinen Tempel zu besuchen.

5 For He concealeth me in His pavilion in the day of evil; He hideth me in the covert of His tent; He lifteth me up upon a rock.

Denn er bringt mich in seine Hütte / Am Unglückstage, / Schirmt mich in seines Zeltes Schirm, / Auf einen Fels erhöht er mich.

6 And now shall my head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me; and I will offer in His tabernacle sacrifices with trumpet-sound; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

So erhebt sich mein Haupt über meine Feinde ringsum. / Opfer des Jubels will ich opfern in seinem Zelt, / Will Jahwe singen und spielen.

7 Hear, O LORD, when I call with my voice, and be gracious unto me, and answer me.

Höre, Jahwe, ich rufe laut! / Sei mir denn gnädig, erhöre mich!

8 In Thy behalf my heart hath said: 'Seek ye My face'; Thy face, LORD, will I seek.

Zu dir spricht mein Herz: (da du geboten: ) 'Suchet mein Antlitz!' / "Dein Antlitz, Jahwe, such ich auch."

9 Hide not Thy face from me; put not Thy servant away in anger; Thou hast been my help; cast me not off, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

Verbirg dein Antlitz nicht vor mir! / Weise nicht ab im Zorn deinen Knecht! / Meine Hilfe bist du. So verwirf mich nicht / Und verlaß mich nicht, Gott meines Heils!

10 For though my father and my mother have forsaken me, the LORD will take me up.

Wenn mich Vater und Mutter verlassen, / Nimmt Jahwe mich auf.

11 Teach me Thy way, O LORD; and lead me in an even path, because of them that lie in wait for me.

Zeige mir, Jahwe, deinen Weg, / Leit mich auf ebner Bahn / Um meiner Feinde willen.

12 Deliver me not over unto the will of mine adversaries; for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out violence.

Gib mich nicht preis meiner Dränger Wut; / Denn es erheben sich gegen mich falsche Zeugen, / Leute, die Frevel schnauben.

13 If I had not believed to look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living! —

Glaubte ich nicht, noch Jahwes Güte zu schauen / In der Lebendigen Land — (ich wäre vergangen in meinem Elend.)

14 Wait on the LORD; be strong, and let thy heart take courage; yea, wait thou for the LORD.

Hoff auf Jahwe! Sei getrost und unverzagt! / Ja, hoff auf Jahwe!
